Yes, because that's exactly the same thing as selling pretend currency online.Originally Posted by Stellar

You can't really keep arguing the morals thing. Morals are personal, indepenant and can't be transferred onto someone else. Just because Raineer see's the situation differently doesn't make him wrong, and it doesn't make you wrong either.
Sure everyone has friends that they are going to leave behind, that's called life. I graduated with 95 people in high school and i dont' talk to a single one of them. If I could have sold every group project i worked on in my high school career for money you bet your ass i would have. It's no different here except the people in this game i've never actually met, except for two, and my brother(obviously). As i've believed from the beginning it's not the people who sell gil, or farm gil that are the problem, it's the people who buy it. And while me or anyone else selling gil might add to the supply, it's sure as hell not going to make or break the system.
I'm not a rich person, i'm not even moderately well off. I have rent, car insurance, other bills, soon college loans to start paying back, car repairs that need to be taken care of. I'd be an absolute idiot, not to get 2-3 grand out of a game i've put 2 years into to alleviate some of those costs. If you have plenty of money and it's no concern to you then do whatever you want, hell if you have a girlfriend just sell a little and take her out on a little vacation for all the time you spent neglecting her while playing.
When it's time for me to go you can bet i'll get what i can for my gil, and my account will either be given to my brother, or someone in the LS to make use of, i won't sell that as it'll have all the r/e stuff and possibly 95-100 goldsmithing for someone to make use off.
What school did you give your character money to? Did you buy little boys and girls Science books?!Originally Posted by Raineer

I just pointed out some of the things people can do if they had more money and didn't assume that ANYONE who wanted more money is greedy.
If you want to go through life and only make yourself happy, that's your decision. If you want to make no contribution to society beyond just "exisiting" then lol...idk what to tell you... However that's well-derailed from any RMT discussion and I know that, I wasn't trying to mix the two. I was only addressing the "money doesn't buy happiness" lazyass arguement.
You would have paid for the college tution anyway. I don't see how that is how that helped anyone else but yourself. (PS, I was being sarcastic, what he is saying is an exageration, just like you saying people would donate money to schools and ect is exaggerated, which I brought up earlier).
Wanting more money is not greedy(unless it controls you). Doing something that you know/once believe is morally incorrect for money is an act of greed. Understood?
It's not an exagerration, you're failing to see that it's 2 different points.Originally Posted by BRP

I still disagree with you that it's an act of greed regardless, and I'd fucking love to come back to this thread in a year or two and see how people's opinions have changed. It's a decision you think you know 100% what you'll choose until the day you face it.
Its an act of greed. How is it not an act of greed [to dismiss your beliefs in order to get money]? Didn't even admitted it was at some point? And, sure, if you think wafik, others, and me will lower our standards for money, bump this in a year. I won't deny the possibility of me quitting for whatever reasons, but I bet on everything I've ever believed in that my character won't be RMTed. I also believe that you've never liked the game as much as me(and wafik I think) like the game, despite its issues. That alone should be enough to tell you there is a difference.I still disagree with you that it's an act of greed regardless, and I'd fucking love to come back to this thread in a year or two and see how people's opinions have changed. On the subject of outlandish situations.
I was once a millionaire and then lost it all, I would never steal or do something of ill will, but now I am a hobo on the street and I have no more then a penny for my name. I now steal shoes and sell them on the black market for 2$ so i can eat for the day.Originally Posted by BRP
In all honesty BRP you're the one with the selfish point of view. Raineer, assuming this is true, sold his stuff and put the money into something to help a real cause down the road.
You don't want him/others to do it so that YOU can benefit in your online video game experience.
What kind of friend are you, to tell someone that they can't alleviate their real life given the possibility, to make your video game experience maybe just a little better. Morals aside, you have the selfish point of view.
I've had friends quit for whatever reasons and sell their gil. I thank them for being a friend of mine, and wish them well in whatever they do because that's what friends are supposed to do. I didn't scold him that omg you might make serket ring cost another 500k or some bullshit like that. Stop thinking of your video game playability, and think that other people might have other concerns that are a lot more important.
Don't get me wrong, plenty of people RMT for the wrong reasons, but that makes them wrong, not the act itself.
Fixed. Just because Raineer would personally benefit from disregarding the agreement doesn't mean I'm selfish to hold him to his responsiblity, in my eyes, of seeing that his duties under the agreement be fulfilled.Originally Posted by Skyylya
Yes, but you openly admitt to being an ass and i would expect you to want your friends to not help themselves out in a real world so you can enjoy your virtual one.Originally Posted by aurik

SYX, as your clone name is too long to type so I'm calling you that, that fucking hobo should get a job, depending on american services that aid hobos in the meantime.

Anyway, I think if you were presented with 1k$ after quiting the game willingly, you would take it.
Posting in an epic thread!
To those who knew me I bid you all farewell. Like it's been said before I played because of the community. You guys were the fuel that made this game enjoyable, even you Siat. (lol) It was a good 2-3 years. Take care everyone.

You think incorrectly. I would doubt even an unrealistic amount of money would work, simply because I think its wrong and I don't see it being physically possible for me to do that. Another person's life would have to be at stake for me to even consider, which is just insane.Originally Posted by SephirothYuyX

I base what I'm saying on basic principals, not just on the opinions on RMTs effect on the game(I mean, I've been repeating this a lot, isn't it obvious?). Sacrificing what you once thought was right and wrong for money is greed. Can you even debate that?
