To answer the question, people are quitting because the game pretty much sucks and is never updated. The only reason most of us played was because of the other people in the lisnkshell. Now that a good majority has quit/is quitting people have no reason to stay.

Vixy I don't know why you are drawn to defend me, but it isn't really needed. All Mdn(and others) can say I'm living the life he lived(and may continue to live) while playing FFXI, or alternatively call me a faggot. What are you going to do, brag about wasted time and bots? To make it commmon knowlege, I don't camp kings because (a, I don't have the time; (b, neither does most of the people in my LS. How do I have enough time to post on forums, but not enough time to camp kings? I can post from anywhere and I can post while playing. May it be a friends house or a public place with a computer, I can check BG and post some. I do admit I'm addicted to BG, but really, not a strong arguement.

I don't think anything will change. PO dropped out of the spotlight a long time ago and is pretty forgotten. As more new players hit 75, I don't think anyone gives a damn.
