Very nice. I wish they would start up a Tribune #3, I liked reading the little bits of info and history about random Vana'Diel things.
I'm sure Kam'lanaut was born in the Ancient times.Originally Posted by BRP

v Ouch, BRP, that stings.
Ave, you are really fucking stupid, okay?
The tribune ended on February 27, 2006 with a great issue that included a sad story about the last days of the Hydra Corps (including the introduction of relic weapons and af2) and a biography of Kam'Lanaut. When's the last time they published issue of the Tribune? It's been a while.
I still say they need to put history libraries in each nation with some books being available from the get-go, others becoming available from rank missions, AF quest sets, and secret books from harder quests, but then again I am a gigantic nerd.
I find it really retarded that we don't know things we should. I mean, it was only recently(as in, within a year ago) we knew anything about or the names of the Elvaan tribes... even though, we've only read about two. We are able to find out why the world is about to end, but we don't even know who was the Star Sybil before the current one?
Seriously, they set up this huge rich history and then just give the tiniest glimpses of it, it sucks that it's not more accessable.
Tolkien had The Silmarillion, FFXI needs a wandering scribe. :(
i think there was some big explosion in gusgen. there was some info on it in a quest i did a very long time ago. some npc talked about the ghosts and whatnot in there. it would also explain the sirens that occasionaly sound while you're in the mines
Screw this spoiler-free crap. Spill all of the beans, let no cat remain in any bags, etc.
Drop some CoP/RoZ storyline-related key moments in there, tonberries, kuluu, tu'lia, al'teiu, blahblah, and blah.
P.S. What was the point of Attohwa Chasm anyways? Was there no storyline for that place? CoP website mentioned some mithra explorer was looking for some legendary hill of Terroamaeomdofsef(cradle of rebirth). Also, throw in spoilers about mithra background from RNG AF quests, and CoP characters. :X
Gusgen had a Cave-in allegedly caused by Juggler Hecatomb, it was mentioned in one Aly's Escapades in the tribune. Note: Gusgen has a strange apparatus, which could explain the presence of a strong weapon mob in the area.(not to mention the Dem crag right outside)
Honestly, after the wasted potential Eld'Narche had, I don't care about zilarts anymore. I would will say though, I would like to know more about some of the things they built, like the devices.Drop some CoP/RoZ storyline-related key moments in there, tonberries, kuluu, tu'lia, al'teiu, blahblah, and blah.
I still think there's stuff to be figured out with the devices, and the various Arcana.
Weapons, as in the monster type, are earth spirits(name is on the tip of my tongue... Boggarts maybe... uh, something like that) that possess weapons of the dead. I don't think its ever explained why they are always by cermet. It could be the earth spirits are actually Zilart ghosts, but I don't know. Maybe they are just attracted to the stuff.
Dolls and Pots are likely Ancient made, to have various of uses. Golems eat ores and will work for their food(alligning with Demons for it)... so they have some type of intelligence. I don't know if Golems are natural or man-made. Bombs are just obvious. I guess Snolls would be the opposite of Bombs.
I never quite understood Arcana. Maybe I just missed something, or it's only mentioned in some AF quest like DRK, were Detectors, Dolls, and Pots created for security around zilart/kuluu structures, and why do bombs appear during foggy weather but always appear in some caves, and why do weapons loiter around the crystallines... argh. Only "arcana" that makes sense to me at the moment are Cardians.Originally Posted by Lithiani
Edit: BRP can read my mind.
I think this was mentioned in the DRK quest, something like weapons are an angry dood trapped in his weapon that uses the crystal line's power to command an earth elemental as a bodyOriginally Posted by miokomioko
I might be making shit up though, I don't even have DRK unlocked
Edit: Damn BRP.
Adding something: I think the spirits' names are Kabald?
Edit the second: hereugo
Evil weapons...this is what we call weapons that have gained a will of their own after being exposed to some kind of powerful energy.
Ever do they seek to taste new blood. They enslave kobolds--earth spirits with telekinetic powers--and force them to do their bidding.
I had a feeling you would come, ever since I wrote that letter to Cid. Well? Does your blade shine with darkness?
At any rate, that is the theory of the evil weapons' origin. By “powerful energy,” most scholars suspect the Crystal Lines.
Even though the Crag of Holla is close, Ordelle's Caves are not under the influence of the Crystal Line that emanates from that place. So strange that an evil weapon would appear here...
Brp there are weapon mobs in Meriphataud called Boggarts. I think that's actually a synonym for Ghost though, as it's in line with Bogey in ghosty myths irl. lol
I always liked to think weapons were like Zilart version of tonberries >.>
Kobolds! Thats it. Anyway, okay this changes things.
Weapons gain life/intelligence/will from cermet structures. They possess the kobolds, not the other way around.
Its mention the possibility that it isn't the crystal line giving them the power. Something comes to mind about these weapons. Relic weapons are oddly similar to them.
I think it is implied that the Animated Weapons in Dynamis-Xarcabard are the inner form, or some such, of what creates the Evil Weapons in the real world.
I don't think they are the deceased Zilart... I think that's what the Kindred are .
No, the Kindred are not related to the Zilart at all.Originally Posted by Lithiani
On that topic, the Kindred are servents/race under the god of darkness, which we would assume is the Dark Rider, aka Odin. One source(not that the guy in the game could really know when you think about it) says that the Shadow Lord signed a pact with the "Divinity of Darkness" which allowed him to bring the Kindred into Vana'diel, very similar to the Fomor. The Kindred are loyal to the Shadow Lord even after his demise. When you think about it, the Kindred are one of the last frontiers of the Middle Lands. We know so little about them, I hope ToAU sheds some light on them with Odin. We know they have a leader in the place of the Shadow Lord, I forget his name, but he is a Kindred himself.
The moblins call him King Paimon, serving directly under the divinity of darkness.
