Writers can just as easily put in that "A few brave Blue Mages were sent to the Middle Lands to aid (and spy on) the 4 nations during the Crystal War. After the Blue Mages died off, The Empire of Aht Urhgan denied giving any sort of aid to the Middle Lands." It would make sense for BLU me-thinks, cuz the Empire is into all of that secrecy, spying and shit.Originally Posted by Xanoxonax
There is a very large zone, which has double darkness weather. SE might just make another 'dynamis-ish' where you can obtain those sets of armor. Maybe... you can just buy your relic armor with some materials. I really hope SE doesn't single out the 3 jobs on this, like they did a few times. PUP doesn't need to be any more eccentric as it is, its pretty much doomed to never be a normal job because of how weirdly it was built and how you need progress with it.
A little back on topic, does anyone have any information about when various people were born, died, came into power? I'm sure there is stuff like "12 years ago, this happened" in the game. If I can get more details, I can probably map out the ages better.
Most interesting BG thread in a while. Thanks a ton for putting it together.
I really wish SE would get off their ass and overhaul the Adversaries section on the mainpage. They could make it really interesting with just a little new information.
Last time I checked, I wasn't from Aht Urhgan and I was still able to become a Corsair. There's nothing stating that people from outside the Empire never took away those jobs before the Empire closed up during the War.Originally Posted by Xanoxonax
The problem is that Relic armor and weapons were custom made for Hydra members. There was no COR, PUP, or BLU Hydra members.Originally Posted by ircgeek
It could be a detail that no one remembered to mention at the time. Afterall, the only documented hydra member was a THF. I think the presence of at least 14 others is implied, but nothing has been found stating that there were only 15 jobs in the Hydra Corps.Originally Posted by BRP
And like I said, it would be simple for them to write in the other 3 jobs, considering the damn big plotholes they gave to us already.Originally Posted by Khamsin
Its possible and I rather them write it in, to be honest, however thinking of it in terms of possibility, any of the three jobs being there, let alone BLU and COR working together, are very unlikely.Originally Posted by Khamsin
I took a look at the letters from Hydra Corps once, and really don't remember seeing them specifically saying "Only 15" or anything like that. Yes, the Hydra Armor was made specifically for that team - which is why it's named Valor instead of Gallant and such, meaning it's different from existing armor. They made gear tailored to the jobs, but again, they don't say "We didn't make Corsair armor" or "We only made 15 sets of Corsair armor" that I recall - if there's info on this "only 15" thing from somewhereo utside of the Tribune (or I missed it actually in the Tribune) then disregard my statements.
As for COR and BLU not working together, well... It's the nations who are at war, not the adventurers caught in-between the two groups. Although you'd expect the people you recruit to share your ideals, it's quite obvious that you can become both a COR and BLU whenever you feel like it, and no doubt the same held true "back in the day."
In addition... I wouldn't be so quick to dismiss the History of Vana'diel site. Lots of good info there, including King Raigegue and Fellenant, which is info you get from the Timely Visit quest (perhaps my favorite storyline quest ni the game). I don't remember if they give specific dates in that quest explaining that fight for power, and the History site doesn't appear to list dates, but still... Lots of info in there that you could at least pick up and research more thoroughly.
Good work so far, though.
Considering the Kingdom of Ephramad (Corsairs) were suffering after thier defeat in the War vs The Empire, they could have (in theory and/or speculation) sent CORs to aid the Hydra Corps in return for food and supplies. BLU like I said coulda been sent on friendly terms (with a mission to spy and gather info behind the scenes) to work with the Hydra Corps (regardless with CORs or not). Meh... damn writers probably aren't badass enough to think of simple shit like that to add to the story.Originally Posted by BRP
I just would like to point this out. I love this quest, the rewards arent great but damn its a cool quest. Hell, you get a badass title from it too, "Obsidian Storm". Its really sweet.Originally Posted by ircgeek
hmm, missing the war between sando and bastok on konschtat?
Please don't mention AF2 drops for Dynamis, it would be just like S-E to listen to you just this once, and I personally would much rather not have to deal with another 3 Demon NMs in D-X
S-E are lazy bastards anyways... look at the DRG NMs about the game. None of them have the new Spirit Surge 2hr... all of them still have Call Wyvern as thier two 2hr (minus the Mamool Ja DRG NM in lvl 5 Beseiged-- lolwtf @ 3 Wyvern Spirit Surge)... if they can't fix a small problem like that (small being a rewrite of code... maybe not so small lol), I doubt they'd really add anything in the way of new job NMs in Dyna - Xarc. Or maybe they are avoiding updating older zones purposely... /shrug.Originally Posted by Lithiani
Easiest thing they could do is to just make new rare/ex items drop in normal dynamis that you can trade for your BLU/PUP/COR relic.
Only thing ever mentioned about new jobs' relic that I've heard of was after I got 5/5 PUP AF from that Mithra in whitegate (the one that says there's too many puppetmasters, lol), she said there was another set of puppetmaster clothing, but she doesn't know how to get a hold of it anymore. I don't have no .dat reading crap so I forget what exactly she said since she hasn't repeated it since. Maybe someone can paste that statement or anything similar from the Corsair and Blue Mage AF crafters. (Also, has anyone tossed a new AF piece and spoken to the NPC again, can you reobtain in that manner?)
Perhaps COR/BLU/PUP spies/recon during the wars dropped notes or journal entries or what-have-you. I DUNNO, but indeed, as was stated earlier, singling out COR/BLU/PUP in terms of making their AFII/AFII+1/AF+1 being acquired in a completely different fashion than every other job is simply... retarded. All we can do is sit and wait and eventually be disappointed.
As for BRP, has every bit of info that you've got been accompanied with a date? Outside the tribune, I've only seen years mentioned on the Stone Monuments (which might be something to add if you haven't already)
Of course I know about that quest and the San d'Orian civil war. This is also mentioned several times in the game when San d'Oria's history is the topic. Unless there is something I missed, I will not find any dates on that website. Its rather useless to me. I'm not oblivious of the information in the game itself, but it doesn't really help much with a timeline if I don't know when it happened. Maybe in a later, revised version, I can break it down to 10, 50, and 100 year periods where I can place estimates of when events occur. In addition... History of Vana'diel is failure. That site misses most of the game's side-plot. I'm better off just remembering everything I've seen then using.

Anyway, that just means that the equipment is extremely rrrare. If you want it, you are going to have to look hard...
you should do a post on the tonberry and ancient stuffI never read the zilart CS but I kinda wish I knew the back story..
Thank you, I believe this is our biggest hint thus far to how new job relic is going to work.Originally Posted by VividAriah
