Slightly off topic.. but.. not so much really.

Okay.. looking at the 5 races we know the following:

Hume's Grow older... and eventually die of old age.

Elvaans also grow older.. and die of old age, but quite possibly at a much slower rate than hume's.

Galkan's seem to visually age.. but then go off somewhere and reincarnate into a younger form.

Taru's dont visually age past the point when they reach adulthood, and seem to live for an extremley long time (shantotto fought in the LAST great war)

Mithra also don't seem to visually age past adulthood, and also seem to live a very long time. (Some of the Star Sybill's guard fought in the great war, the old chiefteness of khazam doesn't look any different than any other mithra)

... so.. I guess the question I have is.. has anyone EVER seen old taru's or mithras.. or have any information about them dying of old age?

I hate to say it, but I think I have to... PS2 limitations.

They have to keep the number of models down, maybe if they could have more models there would be old Tarus and Mithras.

Also, Galkas don't really age past the age of 40 either. For example, Babenn is between 150 to 200 years old and still looks pretty spry.

    I reeeealllly doubt that.
Really doubt it all you want, pal. I was bored Friday, and after reading this thread, I decided to go visit all the stones and copy them down to post on this thread. Not too hard when ya have /WHM with the Holla, Mea and Dem.
You need multiple people for 2 of the stones. You can argue high traffic for Garlaige, but not Eldieme. Then there's the problem of visiting the other 13 stones and writing them down, which is just mind-numbingly boring and repetitive, especially considering that all the messages are available in full on any of several fan sites.

So, maybe you're POS hacking, which I doubt since you brought up Teleport spells, or you actually convinced someone to help you with them, which, while by no means is impossible, is a bit fanatical.

Maybe you used POL Tools to get them? But I don't see why you'd need to cover that up.

In the end, you probably just copied and pasted them from any one of the several sites which list them in chronological order with a few minor formatting diversions and tried taking credit for it. Regardless, the stones did at one point have slightly different texts.

For Mithra we really just don't have any idea. The only profiled Mithra was the current Chiefteness, and she is only about 32ish. She only got the title four years ago from Romaa Mihgo, when she retired.

Romaa Mihgo is still in the game, and she does not look old at all. The problem is we don't know how old she is, she could have retired at 40, and be 44, she could have retired at 582 and be 586, we don't know. I don't recall any info of past mithra's either, with date's of birth and death, or hell even a mention of past chiefteness before Romaa.

For Taru we have 3 profiles, one of whom did not die naturally. The other two, Lungu-Nango and Tukuku don't really shed a whole lot of light.

Tukuku is said to have been on 274 and died 298, acording to the list. Which is only 24 years. Which if 24 is any where near the average life span of a Taru mean half of windy is about to Die, including Shantotto and the Star Sybil. During Black Mage AF story Shantotto recall's fighting in the war, which was 20 years ago, and if she was at the crest of her power then it would imply she was an adult and trained.

Lungu-Nango, born 342 dies in 376 at the age of 32. Agian not really a long amount of time, so pretty much most of windy is going to die if its a average. Lungu-Nango dies after being kicked out of Windurst, and he was a Warlord so its likely he died fighting somewhere.

However it is not known how he died, if it be on his death bed or fighting. Honestly the same can be said for Tukuku, since the profile say's she sadly passed away in 298, not how she died. So it is either Taru only live to around 30, or we simply don't know.

It is interesting just how little we know about the two races. I am not as into this as other, so if any one actually does have more info please post it.

I love this thread! I dont have access to ffxi anymore so I cant contribute anything useful unfortunatly.

I noticed the OP mentions a battle in Batallia Downs. What are the ruins there; are they a part of the Sandorian castle/village? Also how does it tie in with Eldieme?

I hope I didnt overlook anything that would have explained

If I remember right, Batallia used to be heavily forested, like Ronfaure or Jugner, but it was strip-logged to build fortifications during the Great War. The ruins are just parts of Eldieme, which is an ancient Elvaan burial ground. There are a lot of old Elvaan ruins in Quon - for example, Davoi used to be an Elvaan city - but the orcs have driven the Elvaan out of most of them.

Asked a friend to help me with Eldieme, then asked three LS mates after we got done some BCNMs to help me with the two gates in Garlaige. Not really all that difficult. I wanted to see what the fuck they said for myself, considering I'd never finished the Batallia or Sarumugue ones.

Cut and pasted from another site and trying to take credit? Sod off.

A world of light for the good and a world of darkness for the bad that await those who die and are sent to Al'Teiru's crystal. Then again, it could just be some towers with unexplained monsters on top of some emptiness full of unexplained monsters. I find it funny that FFXI's end-game like the Shijin, pretty much all HNMs but Vrtra, and Jailers have less storyline that WoW's molten core. It doesn't quite make sense.
Limbus is definitely a place where some notable folks go. Many of the named monsters in Temenos are historical figures.

http://wiki.ffxiclopedia.org/Doggvdegg for a notable example. Whether he was drawn in alive or dead is a good question, but he was in his prime when he disappeared.

Tonberry Kinq is probably the result of what we've mentioned before, how there seems to be no effort to explain NMs. The best we can hope for that he is actually a decoy to their actual leader(Grav'tion, or however his spell his name exactly) who is in the Den of Rancor, with the name "Kinq" as a nod to his fakeness.
From Tribune issues, the Tonberry "King" is a doofus, and definitely no Grav'iton. Yeah, I'd say he's a fake. "A Little Goblin's Adventure" basically makes him out as an idiot. Uggalepih is almost certainly a warping of their worship, even as the afteraffects warped them into Tonberrys.

Hey, bumping this one last time. Anyone got anything to say on dates? I'm really hoping for stuff like "50 years ago" or "400 years ago" stuff in cutscenes.
