According to a bunch of other stuff I've read about it, no. There have been a few different rumors, but the best (crit% up) has been disproven. Sorry I have no links, but you could search KI and find some data.
I'v read on these forums that it could have ability to reset your hate when you do a ranged WS. I have absolutly no idea if that was proven or disproved at all. That thread goes back to when that item was introduced.
Then again, I could be full of shit.

Brutal Earring is one of the best items in the game, by far the best melee earring.
Loq. Earring is one of the top mage earrings in the game.
Boxer's Mantle is the best solo cape in the game, nothing really compares to it stat wise.
All cost 75 coins. Charger Mantle costs 150. Doesn't make sense to me... so I wouldn't be shocked if it did have some hiddent effects.

Besides, +HP only benefits you until you lose your first X amount of HP, then it does nothing for you. Same as +MP, but for a SMN, MP does benefit you more by starting out with a large amount. HP doesn't unless you're fighting something that will do more than your HP's damage in an AoE, but less than your HP + 50 or so from earrings. That's a very narrow range, and is a very rare scenario compared to needing that last few MP for one more BP before you rest.
Max MP is only going to matter in the first few minutes of any fight really... after that it comes down to MP spent vs. MP recovered.
Max HP is only going to matter when faced with an AoE that would otherwise one-shot you, which happens... never. Even a Touchdown + Wing + missed stun -ga from Tiamat, in a row, without stoneskin, isn't going to kill you. Consider: Soloing Aura Pots for Ro'Maeve Water. Last thing you want is to need one more Mountain Buster and be short a few MP. Or if you are curing your party/alliance during a bad time, and you run out of MP. Or you are fighting an HNM and you are in a cycle of BP/rest/BP/rest. You can go another cycle before you need to miss a BP to rest, if needed. When I was killing T-VT aerns for organs, having all my MP most definitely helped, whereas I never had any near-death experiences.
