Yeah if you have RMT on your server with 100 crafts and they monopolize the big ticket crafting materials, you are going to get fucked. They won't even have to sell Siren's Hair, Shining Cloth, Behemoth Hide, etc to crafters to make their gil to sell to gilbuyers anymore. Legit players that crafter will be taken out as the middle-man for RMT. Instead RMT will just craft the materials they farm themselves and screw over FFXI's crafting community slowly but surely.

RMT exacerbate the normal player driven economic cycles in the game.

They flood markets, undercut, and drive out legit crafters during downsings. They provide a convenient source for cheap
gil when the upswing hits during holidays. This is conjunction with their normal attempts to monopolize NM farming and HELM activities.

Some players might take this game serious but RMT try to turn it into a business at our expense.

There was a cgf whm that did ports and always spam shouted for help with keys/coffer finding that ended up getting 100leather too. I remember him selling a shitload of Amemit+1's and other things, i believe he was also banned. There was some T's in his name i cant remember it.

I don't know how you can come to the conclusion that it will "even itself out in the end".
I have no clue on these prices, these are just made up for an example:

    Sole sushi:
Tarutaru Rice, Rice Vinegar, Black Sole, Distilled Water and Ground Wasabi yes?

Its sold for 80k at AH, and lets say the crafter makes a 10k profit. So now RMT have lowered the prices and crafters arnt getting any profit, in fact theyre losing money. So now their A) not crafting this at all any more, or B) their hopeing for a HQ.

So its unfair atm, but the ingreds wont stay at those prices for long, they as with the product itself will fall in price. They will fall till crafters can break even or gain a bit of profit.

Crafters arnt usually going to waste their own money so they can help supply the AH, the only time this is done is in hopes of a HQ (lolamemet). Since no one is buying the ingreds to make the product, the prices for the ingred will fall. Thats how it is evened out, and it is better for the buyer since its like 50k cheaper.
With the exception of the rice and the fish, sushi ingredients are all bought from NPCs. The fish is always the determining factor for how expensive it is to make sushi, when you see sushi prices rise or fall, check the fish that is used to make it and you will see the same trend.

The problem is that since gil farming crafters are probably also running fishing bots they cut out a huge amount of cost for themselves. Unless the legitimate crafter also fishes then there is loss, even then since time is money they are going to take a beating.

RMT is seriously disgusting and ruining the shit out of this game.

I used to fish and grow my own rice and tell myself I was making enough profit to justify all the time I spent synthing
and tending the AH to squeeze profit through the horde of RMT crafters.

Then I watched my RMT competitor next to me in fishing gear HQ sole sushi 9 times in a row. I sold my ingredients and
starting lvling clothcraft on a mule.

I don't care because I don't buy tacos, at least, from the AH (good brd food ). My roomate is almost 100 cooking and he was making tacos for a time, and still continues to make them and just sell the salads instead, and over and over and over, Dood would undercut, *every* single time. Tacos were in the 50k-80k range for the longest time... now they're down to 30k/stack or less.

Exactly. It's not just the fact that they undercut every now and then.. it's that they're constantly monitoring the AH, and if 1 person gets a sale in, they'll lower the price for their own stuff enough so the next sale is theirs.

Again, I'm sorry, but this is funny how what I meant flew right over your head. I shouldn't joke about that stuff

Gah! The silent oil market on sylph is now completely and totally dead. There's absolutely no way to beat the gilseller crafters in this field. 90% of all silent oil is theirs and they can afford to undercut it so damn low.

They're only profiting about 1k per stack but they still make a lot since they sell so much of it. It's not even worth it to make it anymore, so if you're on sylph, rejoice at cheap silent oil for the rest of your life.

Me? I need to find a new money-maker now. :/

What noone is mentioning is the that all of the gil earned by the RMT crafters is then tied up in RMT unlike a legit player who will then pass it along within the game.

Its mid level economics but essentially there is a thing called the money multiplier effect when money is earned > spent > earned > spent.

Essentially Joe the fisher catches the fish and earns 1 million gil which he spends on crafted gear. This goes to Bob the leatherworker who is then spends it on a behemoth hide from LS Claimbotz. Claimbotz uses the money to buy gear for its members which goes toward other crafters and shells. In the end the same million gil is used 5 times over within a week and thus stimulates the server economy.

A RMT crafter however will not reinvest his earnings into the server economy. He gets 1 million gil from his synth bot and this money is pulled out of the economy and is waiting for someone to buy it in RMT. A very profitable cyclical effect can be created by the RMT as it sucks more and more money out and places strain on allready flooded markets thus making gil more and more scarce which fuels their trade even more.

No one ever said they were stupid.

In real life countries have tarrifs and taxes setup to prevent foreign competition from driving out domestic industry. FFXI has no such setup.

I don't get it people complain that "rmt crafters" are lowering the prices?!
what about the other crafters in this forum who openly admit they undercut everything they craft to "make more gil"

Because heres what happened with fishing.

I used to fish and sell them. So far so good. However I would notice that the prices of stuff would stay about the same. Being smart and seeing there arnt any up I would jack up the price because supply/demand etc. However only few would sell because no matter how high I would set it, the rmt would sell everything at the same price. What this did was effectivly set the maximum selling price. So then real players have to compete with that price and undercut and get lower then that. I felt like I was competing against an NPC.

i know what you mean, i try to jack up the prices on stuff when theres none on AH too, like 50k peridots :D but i don't see how you can tell a crafter is really a "cgf rmt" since alot of people will do crafts on mules and undercut viciously to try and get rid of competition in a market or just sell thier stuff before anothers so they can effectivly get more and more to sell before the other guy. I'm just jaded with people labeling people as cgf rmt all the time even if they're only evidence is the guy saying NI HAO. If someone i didn't know wanted to start asking me questions about my craft, like what should i skill, what is good profit, or if they asked somthing about a nm i was camping or somthing i would say HAO NI MA or somthing to just get rid of them and fool them into thinking i am a cgf rmt.

How about those fucking retarded attempts at being "normal" with "I LOVE YOU" AND (^__^) in their bazaar comment? Or the fact that their name is "Beibei" and never buy any materials off the AH?

There's a guy named Znnaer on my server, I don't know if he's a gilfinder on my server but seriously the only thing he does all day is make Sole Sushi. That's it. When I log on at the Jeuno AH at 4 PM, the first thing I see is "Znnaer synthesized 2 plates of sole sushi." When I coem back an hour later for limbus, the first thing I see when approaching the AH is "Znnaer synthesized 2 plates of sole sushi." When I'm about to log off 3 hours later, I stop by the AH and see "Znnaer synthesized 2 plates of sole sushi." In fact, when I go to the Jeuno AH, I've never NOT seen him there crafting. Sole Sushi +1 is down to 70k a stack now on my server, and NQs are now 20k a stack. Probably because of this guy.
