Only thing good about it is to see who got banned or suspended.

Haha, I think they're a little afraid of what the response would be like if they put up a survey for stuff that happens ingame^^. They like the old "don't ask, don't tell" policy.Originally Posted by Norelco

This is a small social LS gathering designed for Unicorn server [not endgame groups by any means, just FYI]. IMHO, This is what Linkshell Community should be like.
I agree. The navigation for the portal is no where near intuitive. I constantly feel lost on the website because I don't know "where" I am.Originally Posted by Lordwafik

I also find it fairly ironic that this doesn't seem accessible via POL or within XI directly. It's almost like they expect us to perform a full log out and/or go to another computer to check this information because no one uses the windower, right?![]()
I don't see why SE even bothers with the feature. I doubt anyone would use it for anything but the most casual meaningless purposes.
About 90% of running a shell is drama management -- gotta keep forums pretty secure from outside members and that most especially includes SE. Run a shell where SE can actually read the member forums if they chose to do so? Not gonna happen.
It's not that people cheat and would get caught/banned -- I don't actualy know anyone that uses 3rd party stuff -- it's that they say things that could create major hassles for the shell if they're taken the wrong way. Putting that kind of risk in SE's hands is just plain asking for trouble.
Examples -- exhortations to train some poor slob suspected of RMT. Vents about ex-gf/bf stalking them (which might not even be true). Statements that they're quiting and selling char on IGE. All the drama that you see from inside a shell, but would really rather not. Running a shell is like trying to babysit the cast of "Days of our Lives". Just don't want that data where SE can play with it.
Some of the sorting features for the linkshell list are actually really nice.
But it all fails terribly because its not available in game, and it requires people to actually sign up for it.
But heck.. being able to tell at a glance assault ranks, Mission Completion Status etc etc IN GAME?
That would be too good for SE.
The FFXI LS Community feature should automatically include all people that have a pearl/sack/shell without them signing up. I don't see why people need to sign up in order for their information to be added to the LS community pages. That would be more useful, in my opinion. Allow in-game chat from a web browser would be another big plus.
FFXI is a little behind in clan/guild/"linkshell" management from other MMOs. Way too primitive.
Would be nice if you could see everyone who owns a pearl to your shell and had the ability to break them even if they are are unequipped or the character is off-line.
Wait, that would be useful, forget it and put in some more fish ranking.
Lets see... EQ implemented the guild management window that allowed you to see, promote, and kick offline members at any time. That was sometime around the fourth expansion, so SE is right on schedule.Originally Posted by Septimus
By the time FFXI came out, EQ was already in its fourth year. EQ was also an MMO pioneer. Its standard issue these days to look at the good ideas your competitors have and learn from them or make your own spin on them.
Square is also a little cheap with their expansions.
1 year for RoZ to come out
About 1.5 years for CoP to come out
About 1.5 years for ToAU to come out
And let's not forget that when expansions are released they are unfinished and have a glass ceiling imposed. EQ had their 3rd expansion released (in its entirety) in 2.5 years.
EQ was not an MMO pioneer. Everything they did was merely a regurgitation of previous ideas on a larger scale, or later conceptuaqlly robbed from AC.Originally Posted by loial
