Because nobody ever went to XP on those Molech Taurus type, with their "10 seconds to cursna or you die, oh and did we forget to mention that Doom resists your petty status cures?", did they?

Have you explored the depths of the Truesight part of Mamook?
Yes, by accident. I eventually got spotted and had to Mijin, but there's one area where I think you could make a roaming party work.

Did you enjoy Promyvion Vazhl? Would you accept an XP party that said "we feel like living dangerously, so we're not fighting crabs, We're gonna XP in an area that most people would never consider going off of mobs that are really hard for their level and have viscious TP moves."
I have XPd in all of the following: Promyvion-Mea, Riverne#A01, Pso'Xja.

I have XPd on Sabotender in Kuftal. It was great XP.

I remember the days when we used to XP on Tigers. At level 25.

I've taken mini bones PTs through the Lost Souls in Xarcabard and it was awesome.

I know 3 BLMs whose prefered merit spot pre-TAU was to manaburn Snolls near Jormungand. That's hardcore.

I've XPd inside the Orcish Overlords chamber in Monastic Cavern. I've XPd on coffer key droppers in Castle Oz and SSG. I've done roaming PTs in Beadeaux. I've XPd on Manticores.

And I'll bet you have XPd on things that are no less dangerous. Ever done a PT on Pugils in the later levels? If you thought screwdriver was a bitch in Qufim, just wait until it hits you at level 70 power. Raptors? Yeah, Ripper Fang really isn't that pleasant.

Most of what makes an XP camp an XP camp is not the TP moves of the mobs - those are all pretty well balanced, tbh. What usually determines what is an XP camp is the safety of the camp from pops, adds and links, and the convienience of getting to that camp.

Fang Rush isn't exactly a walk in the park. Worst XP camp I've ever done was Spiders/Ochus in the upper boyahda tree. XPing in level capped areas is FTL though.

Most of that was rethorical, TBH. Directed to someone who said such things didn't exist, and proving that they did, albiet avoided. Some of those sound really fun. Especially the Cactaurs. What level was that?

Monastic Cavern really is fun, and Batalia Downs tigers/goblins I did a few times with some friend who never bought Rise of the Zilart. Also XP'd with 6 off of Fomor farming Swift Belt hate.

Personally, I adore things like that, but it's certainly not the "best" or "most efficient 12k/hr party possible."

I think I must have been level 53 or 54. It was on the Sabotender Sediendo south of where Sabotender Mariachi spawns.

They are not actually as dangerous as people assume they are. Sure, 1000 Needles is 1000 guaranteed damage, but by the mid 50s, a normal Goblin Bomb will do 250 damage to everyone anyway, so providing you have 4 people in melee range, it's really no big deal. Add in the fact that we had a SMN spaming Earthen Ward, and Needleshot becomes more of a worry than 1000 Needles.

Add in the fact that their normal melee attack don't really hit all that hard (they are pretty fast delay-wise tho), and their defence is frankly nothing to write home about. Plus they are weak to Ice and Drain.

People just assume they are more vicious than they really are, because of the history of them in FFXI.

As an aside, Tonberry really are as nasty as everyone makes them out to be.

Black Triple Stars? We could always use a couple more of those type of NM's.

I've ALWAYS wanted to merit on Hippographs, but then that song tp move might change that idea quickly. I know it's not 25+ people meleing, but anyone who's done Dynamis-Valk knows how much of a joke food on the hippo area can be.

Usually is you have your whm keep joke spells up like barfira and barsilencra, there's a better chance for the dispel to not take your food, and instead take your barspell. Problem is, your whm doesn't care that your forking over gil in food, he still gets exp either way. It's not like he's buying your meat or sushi.

well if you can make it work, Shark Bite owns these like crazy...

2 THF 2 NIN BRD WHM would be pretty fun. I used to solo for feathers often on the EM/Tough ones Song seems to always choose shadows first when I am solo, but, in Valk thats not the case at all.

Wouldn't be Shark Bite be inaccessible in any areas with hippogryphs that gave exp?

I'm expecting next update to hard a new HNM with 3 heads that is resistant to magic damage and has some gimmick under 25% health (I mean, they've never made any mobs like this before ) and drops only PUP JSE.

That personally would annoy me pretty bad.

every kill is 200 xp, and Chi > Viper smokes em. I think we were pulling 10k/hr without breaking a sweat. Bring a blm to stun Nilhilty Song, and you got cakewalk. Though...some ppl wont like to xp on them, because you're pretty much forced to use sushi.

    ..Wow, you're a literalist, aren't ya?

    Hi, I'm theatrical.

I'm going to put this as simply as I can.
You focused entirely on the words 'Behemoth' and 'exp' without grasping what I was attempting to convey (with a dash of tongue-in-cheek hyperbole, admittedly.)
What I am suggesting is an element in which you are forced, regardless of judgement, into a clear danger that is either impossible to avoid and easy to escape from or able to avoid while the creature makes an effort to find you and kill you.
Also, there should be a reaction in the immediate environment to either portend and/or accentuate the coming of imposing or menacing NMs.
Chigoe are the closest thing to what I'm talking about, because of their surprise factor and the attention to the environment that demands.
This game was made to be played by 13 year olds and being babied can get pretty old.

Without Escorts, you can avoid or escape from everything in Lumoria.
If it weren't for the MRs, I could dodge everything in Vhazl from start to spire.
Without GS wars, Guivre is the single most entertaining thing about Kuftal...and people can still exp without ever seeing it.
There is absolutely nothing about this game that is truly difficult or frightening other than Gusgen, a Dynamis Tsunami, and the people who play it. Even a Dynamis Tsunami can be avoided by dropping glass or finding a safe spot that can remain safe at least until you log.

You cannot cite the stupidity of nubs as an example because that is suggesting that we were all somehow brain dead when we started.
Disregarding the fact that I had been following this game for a good 2 years before the NAPC release (stated because if you didn't know and I later say it, you don't think that I think it puts me at a tactical superiority), I came upon a nifty formula after my first few PTs:
MNK + map + sense of direction + brain = x + 1 HP (possibility of error +/- 3), I have literally dredged CN with the sole purpose of surviving and have been successful more times than I can remember.
There is absolutely no way for you to die unless you willingly choose to put yourself in potential danger.
I Ran when I knew we were about to wipe, I left after I saw severely bad judgement.
People avoid Garlaige for one real reason, people are stupid and when the area starts to fill, there is precious little room for error, weakness, or immaturity.

Suupa Ninja Edit: This bolded elements of the following sentence disproves the basis of your argument and therefore invalidates any attempts to recover it other than attacking me personally, which is irrelevant and....well, redundant.
Pretty sure most will agree with that one.

“We need more of an 'Oh Shit' factor in this game, like Guivre (only preferably not as obstructive).”

Difficulty is not fear. The apprehension that comes from difficulty might be, but if you are able to seek it out or avoid it, you are already sure of the probable outcome, so your argument is inherently false.
What I was saying in my post was that the shock you’re initially exposed to eventually wears off, and that is inadequate, as it could have just as easily have been designed to last significantly longer. A significantly more powerful mob that randomly pops or argos you after the defeat of an exp mob, mobs that can’t be avoided by simply whoring WHM sub or giving everything a wide birth, a mine field of hidden monsters that force you to run for your life or fight to the last man, and it’s the only path to where you Need to go, a massive NM that shakes the walls from 20 ft away, roams everywhere, rends the ground as he spawns and breaks it as he walks, with a roar that can be heard zones away (I’m also a romantic.)
That is what I’m suggesting, a reactive atmosphere that instills a real sense of dread and horror, not some pedestrian, unnecessarily difficult, gothic mob to fight for the sole purpose of proving how 4337 my skills are.

You traipsed right through my post seeing what you assumed I was capable of and branded it automatically without actually reading what I said or reading into the layers that were present.
Chiding me for the express purpose of landing your catch of the day to match with the big boys.
Well, the real people who make this forum what it is attack stupidity and false knowledge, not overly romantic hyperbole.
I’m quite aware of PT dynamics, mob difficulty, and the fact that while I have many good ideas, there are practical and technical limitations preventing my visions from being realized.
Even those that are possible are not probable.
However, I don’t need some light-weight broad(?) telling me what I can or can’t dream of.

That IS pretty obstructive and would get old fast. As exciting as walking up ugly range might have been at first, after you have done it a few times, its just a chore.

It sounds about as exciting as needing 4 people to get through a gate when there's a 3 foot high ledge no more than 2 steps away you should be able to climb instead.

I liked the idea of having surrounding mobs flee in terror when said big bad NM dude is about to pop.
