ridill drop rate is fine, its stupidly strong and they shouldn't nerf it for how rare it is. SE just failed with jailer weapons and newer multihit weapons like the bahamut zaghnal -.-;
And that doesn't stop them from making mobs like hydra which are obsolete from the get goOriginally Posted by Khamsin
Bahamut 2 also obsoleted jorm and vrtra by having their body drops. Hell, the subligar desynth obsoleted vrtra.
yea it would be interesting if ridill dropped moved (i know my ls wouldnt be there on 100% FF days)
why dont they release a $40 graphical and system upgrade, diff
servers etc, can upgrade ur old characters!
that's all theyd have to do to sell u heh
PC/Xbox/maybe PS3 only
boom
just upgrade the look of everyone's existing items, dont make anyone start from scratch
then start adding new encounters, original gameplay ideas and thus hopefully? more subscribers on the next-gen platforms.
then square can stop apologizing for stupid engine and maybe make more money
$40-50 per person, plus less complaints?
wham bam thank u ma'am
i should work @ square?
or does this logic fail bigtime and they make more money doing nothing ? maybe thats what u need to decide if u want to quit? if youve taken eco 101, you know that everything in markets happens at the margin. if enough ppl decide theyve had enough itll reach a tipping point...
thoughts from a guy eating a steak
ninja edit: added clarity to ambiguous stupid shit like - 'then start adding new ones' -- that isnt very specific is it
original gameplay idea example: every mob in a certain zone agros only dragoons for a week, lol, or something like that? they pay ppl to sit around and dream up crazy shit like that.
things square does well are
* manage servers (decent uptime really..)
* and their codebase must be pretty good to keep extending it over so many yrs with new varied content dont u think?
i dunno i dont think i could program or sysadmin that shit.
divide them up among Leaping Lizzy, Spiny Spipi, and JEJ then increase their levels to 100+ and when the lizards/rabbits/crawlers all around them link, their levels also increase to 100+ and cant be sleptOriginally Posted by Krandor
they are never going to fix whats wrong lol after last patch i just accepted it that i won't get my hopes up i mean how do you expect SE to fix something thats been needing a fixing for years when they can't even fight RMT properly.
Check IGE, they're owning RMT's. They're just not stopping the farmers, banks onry.Originally Posted by Lordender

so if ur anti square and have an account, it's a little hypocriticalid say just enjoy the game as it is now, or quit, everything else is a fantasy. if they dont seem receptive to ideas that are logical once u place urself in player's shoes (does any normal person really have the ~6 hrs necessary to exp so often?) they wont ever be very receptive to such radical (and probably sound) ideas as those in this thread...
I love it when people say this. Fine, they're banning the banks of websites like IGE. Awesome. Unfortunately that's not the fucking part of RMT that people care about. The part of RMT that people care about is Gilsellers monopolizing shit with bots. Cool, gil costs more money now. Nobody gives a shit. If they can ban the banks, why can't they ban the accounts that repeatedly send money to said bank account?Originally Posted by Eaglestrike
hate to turn it into another rmt thread but just wanted to say on carbuncle they banned 39 of them @ the 1400 suspension/ban and now there is 66 of them leveling that *I KNOW* of. I believe before SE can address other issues that have all been discussed, many good suggestions, they have to do a better job at banning rmt and keeping them off the game or it doesn't matter what they change.
This is true. Prices falling actually hurts me because me farming and buying currency stays at similar prices (though currency falls slower than other items in price) but 1mil to sponsor dynamis which I do occasionally stays solid. Harder to get that 1mil now than before lolOriginally Posted by Taj
I don't mind RMT farming my angel skins, better than having no RMT there and skins being super rare, I have like 4 Mandau wielding JP thf's that apparently are working on HQ heca too -.-; But Sky RMT needs to die.
Who said anything about banning RMT banks?Originally Posted by Taj
Most LS on my server that are there for Fafnir are there for Ridill. Maybe some of those abjurations go to people who want the +1 version.I dont understand why people think Ridill is the reason Fafnir is camped. It's not, Ridill is your lottery ticket, the other stuff is why he's camped. If you move the ridill away from faf, then alot of problems solve. LS's will max out on fafnir and then he'll become fought by new people who need the gear, once the old LS's max out.
This is still one of the few MMO out there that I've seen where 3 year old content is still overcamped. But then again, the cap has been 75 since Zilart came out. Normally, the way a game evolves... make mobs harder and adjust drops accordingly. You normally need a good strategy coupled with some gear from the previously hardest NMs.
That's not the case in this game. When I first started camping kings back in May or June '04 (around there) - I was a 73 PLD in adaman gear only. People did crap damage. We still won. What does that say about the evolution of this game?
All the gear people have earned over the last 2.5 years is for the sole purpose of killing kings faster. That's about it.

There is nothing stopping anyone from doing the things the gil farmers do, they camp NMs non-stop. So what. You think if they werent there, the camps would be open? Christ, I would get up at 3am to check VE after the hairpin became rare/ex and the camp was full. I went there again 4 hours later still camped with the same people. The next day, guess what still packed.
Farming gil is not against the ToS. Selling it is. Thats why the gil farmers will always be there. The only way they will get banned is if they are using 3rd Party Software and people keep calling GMs on them
Yes, but most people do not camp NMs 24/7. These people do. Sure, maybe I make a living off camping O. Kote, too, but I'm also playing the game, and doing things. These individuals merely exist to make money.Originally Posted by Jawas
And no, that is not against the rules, but you have to admit it does create a problem for people. Excess competition from people who won't use the items, and more importantly, and we've seen this, they create a monopoly on items and skyrocket the prices to increase their RL profits.
I don't care much that gilsellers sell gil, honestly. It's wrong and bad and makes people who buy gil gimp as players and all blahblahblah, sure, but I care more that they get in our way and ruin aspects of the game for people who want in-game benefits.
The response about banks is direct evidence that SE is having an impact on RMT, which was the concern that Lordender had. SE is apparently deleting RMT banks left and right, which is causing the price of gil to go through the roof (was $25 per mill when I checked a few days ago.) This is also having a major impact on server economies, because gil is now harder to come by since there's much much less of it in circulation. End result: prices are falling across the board on everything.Originally Posted by ircgeek
Who knows what IGE and all the other shitholes will do about it if SE continually deletes their mule banks. Will they throw in the towel? Are people still fucking stupid enough to pay shit loads of RL money for gil? Dunno, but I hope SE keeps at it.
As far as farming 24/7 not being against the ToS, yes it actually is against the ToS (in a roundabout way.) The ToS explicitly states it is against the rules to share account info or let someone control an account outside of the person who owns it, unless the person is under 18 (might be a different age, I don't recall the specific number.) Even for someone under the defined age, the control is only to be used to specific purposes, which does not include playing the game. So, since people need sleep or they will DIE, farming 24/7 continuously violates the rules, because it is physically impossible for the account owner to man that account non-stop.
Anyway, what SE needs to do instead of cite the fact that their ToS doesn't cover people who play for extended periods of time, they need to CHANGE the ToS. Obviously with the way the ToS is worded now, it is having a massive negative impact on the game, so it's time to change the rules. They need to modify the ToS to state that this game has a variety of activities to partake in, and it is against the rules to continuously engage in the same activity. They would then need to enforce those rules. If there is an account that stays in SoRU camping Ulli 24/7 for more than 3 days, a GM needs to step in and tell them to gtfo and go do something else for a week.
This would hinder RMT activity (or hell, even if honest players were trying to monopolize something) and force them to allow other people a chance at getting claim on a mob. Of course, this also means those same bastards will just level more characters so they can swap out the ones who were flagged for over-camping with fresh ones. But still, RMT would have to buy new copies of FFXI and level new characters, because if SE is smart they'd make sure it was a different POL account, not just a different char on the same account.
that would do nothing...
"ok, that group who was in kuftal and oztroja head to sky, the group that was in sky head to kuftal and oztroja"
If they swapped like that, could open a window for other people to claim. I'm trying to be optomistic. I'm usually a lot better at pessimism though.Originally Posted by NynJa
