Wasn't the nitendo64 launch pretty big for them? No real competition, mario64, blahblah. I remember when i wanted an NES and SNES it wasnt that hard to get, but when i wanted n64 i had so much trouble getting one.

edit because i dont feel like making a second post: i did think about it before hand and it really wasn't that bad. I am sure it was a big launch, but it was that era when everyone started doing the whole lolnintendo thing, and how games were childish, and Nintendo losing 3rd party support.
I mean overall strength and respect in the industry like they did in the early 90s.

There wasn't as much competition then as there is now, and the industry wasn't nearly as blown up as it is now; but they did have complete domination of it. I always bought gameboy's and nitendo's for those classic games and chilidsh games, it was always something the other companies just wouldnt put out when in fact they could be a real lot of fun. I dont think any game has entertained me in the ways galaga and others did when i was with a bunch of friends, doing tournements and playing them when drunk lol.

That was my biggest fear about the Wii. 200$ for 3 controllers is going to suck, and for a system like Wii, it's almost needed. Going to end up costing 250$ +200$ + 50$ = 500$ at release for a wii and 1 games. Still nowhere near ps3, but that isn't cheap either.

With a 250$ price point, cheap controllers, and other nifty addons that all seem within a reasonable price range, this system is a clear winner for me. I'm very, very excited.

Wii Remote - 40 bucks. Nunchuck - 20 bucks.

$60 is cheap? Or do you only need one of those...? I don't actually know myself. Even if you only needed the remote, $40 isn't cheap either IMO.

You have to understand that a new PS2 controller is like 30$ and with all the knockoffs, there will probably be some knock off Wiimotes for cheaper than the standard 40$.

Also I don't think you need more than one, and you can buy them seperately. I figured that the remote would be alot more expensive than 40$.

As 360 controllers are $40 and $50, I don't see what the issue is really. And I don't think EVERY controller needs a Nunchuck.

But didn't it say somewhere that the system comes with a Wii Remote and a nunchuck? Also, the system is coming with games. Plus, a 15$ classic controller isn't bad on the wallet by any means. So you really only need to pay for one controller, and it isn't neccessary to have it.

It comes with one remote and nunchuck. Wavebird will work with Wii so I am set as far as controllers go for now haha. Might get an extra remote and nunchuck, depends on how useful vs how gimmicky it is.

i will want only 2 of the crazy motion remotes, then maybe 1-2 crappy cheap ones. I cant imagine me having more than 2 people on it at once anyway, when i got my 360 i got an extra wireless controller thats still in the packaging; and its been like 2-3 months.

It comes with one remote and nunchuck.

So essentially you'll need to buy 3 more remotes and nunchucks if you wanted to play 4 player games that uses the new motion jazz. I'm probably not gonna bother until SSBB, which I actually heard is using the GCN controller, so I might not need to then either. I don't really know, the whole situation is sorta confusing me right now. Chances are I won't get a Wii till after the holidays so I'm not too anxious.

P.S. Anyone that has a GCN, did your controllers lose their spunk quick too? The joysticks on mine all go to shit pretty quick (still an improvement from the N64 sticks), plus I've had 3 or 4 controllers that I had to toss because buttons stopped working or they just stopped working all around. I gotta compliment Sony on their controllers, never really had any problems with them besides a little stickage on the L and R buttons.

All my buttons work on all my controllers except for the left on one of my NES ones. Never had any problems with joysticks either what do you do to your controllers? >.>??

I had 12 controllers between N64 and GameCube (4 regular, 4 WaveBird), and the only ones that ever busted were the 2 non-Nintendo brand N64 controllers.

The original (purple) controllers of mine did break, but my wavebirds, both the white and platinum (or w/e) work great. With this new next gen system I pretty much will only be playing multiplayer online. I think 1 remote+nunchuck and 1 wavebird and I will be set. By saying $500 to play 1 Wii game is just being silly.

To play game like smash bros, you will need 4 classic controller, so that's 60$ right there.
And you will probably end up needing 3 nunchuk+wiimote combo for another "must get" game like mario kart, or something. That will be 47$ x3.

Not sure what game we will get with the system then, but Super mario World was the last good gam bundled with one
