SMN 70BPs blow ass so bad at level 70. Mostly due to the horrid accuracy/dmg/mp ratio. Level 73-74 they start to be decent when mobs start to become VT.

Blue Mage is a decent and fun job to level but not so much at level 75. Blue Mage has handicaps that other melee jobs don't have. For instance, Refueling is only 10% haste vs melees 15% haste from white or red mage. Also, a shit ton of blue damage comes from spells, and Minuet has no effect on blue mage spells(however things like dia, frightful roar/enerveration do). Also March isn't as effective for a BLU because of the relatively large amounts of casting.

Even if you had *every* best peice of blue equip in the game, you're still going to be at a 5% haste disadvantage from refueling vs haste, and no increase in dmg to blue spells from minuet. If you pump BLUs full of MP regen (balladx2 refresh sanction auto-refresh), have fun trying to compete with that.

Wait is there some rule that because you can cast refuelling on yourself, you don't get haste?

As a general rule of thumb, you'll get a refresh instead of a haste since its somewhat expected for you to use Refueling. The number of parties I've been hasted in I could count on less than 1 hand.

Have you played RDM in a RDM BRD PLD BLU BLU BLU PT? That's 5 constant refreshes. If you're going to haste all the BLUs too more power to you, I'd rather cast more than 2 spells during my leveling though.

learning spells as blu is really annoying but it's a fun job to play, also you can own up some ballista with it (but taru hp hmm). casting haste on blu is kindof a waste of time cuz they get refueling, but haste spell is slightly stronger so hmm

but if u really wanna have fun and die a lot, get yourself a k club and lvl drk

Anyone who thinks 5% less haste for BLU is a serious problem needs their head checked. BLU can easily pull their own in merit parties, they don't need haste to 'WS'.

if you can static w/ a bunch of friends, its actually really fun.
Levelled from 56-75 on a static party and loved every minute of it.

Blm has been painful in the last 4 weeks seeking constantly i've received 2 invites and only 1 party broke 10k exp. The upside is there are now alot of easy solo areas, functional but not fun.

Nin was insanely fun to level, you would probably get a kick out of it seeing the differences between pld. I doubt that the haters still exist but it was fun proving that nin was a viable tank and dd. I'm an attack speed junky to (war nin mnk).

Mnk is a kind of raw pleasure, there is only hurting the mob but I see it now as a chill out job.

I'd suggest SAM if you don't like NIN but then you don't like SAM so thats not too helpful.

    Blm for me when I played my first char.(took it to 75) was really fun. Xp for me seemed to get kinda scarce at 60-70, but after that, picked right back(<3 sky xp). I had taken PLD also to 54, and as taru, always got the invites :D . Gear wise for blm, your set with AF until you hit 70+, because basically decent set, and really get to spend your money on more spells. If that made any sense at all, great. Its 6am here and still trying to wake up >_>;

BST... die... Alot.... I mean alot alot
Sucks when you are stupid. I said it

Seriously though, I learned more about this game dieing 1.23 million times on BST then I did leveling WHM to 75 or BRD to 75. Especially when it comes to understanding the nuances of hate / agro / areas etc.

Plus I have a truck load of KS and BS. It was by far the most entertaining thing to xp. Even more so in a duo / trio.

I think COR is the choice! Go COR/RNG and you can be the a lolDD too, then you can be everyone's merit whore even more so then BRD. Now that seems to be the most usefull thing ever!

I agree 100% about the learning by death, and understanding hate/aggro/zones. With Reraise2 items now its not so bad taking few deaths, only hard part is when you just have no other choice and hit the Home Point.
I also have 4x99KS and 5x99BS sitting around and nothing to do with them

I liked BLM back in the day but after almost 3 years of it, its really boring now. It gets very routine very fast and once you get over the thrill of having so much damage capability at the push of a button, you'll likely start thinking twice about wanting to play the job.

THF is ok, it has its ups and downs. A smooth flowing party and extravogant gear can make the job tons of fun, but gearing THF properly to make it useful is extremely expensive and time consuming which is why I quit at lv 72. I didnt have the funds or the time to invest into being a good THF to continue leveling the job. All my time and money goes into my main job.

Now my main - NIN. By far the most fun I've ever had in this game has been on NIN. I won't lie to you, this is an extremely expensive job if you want to be properly geared for it. I love the tanking aspect of it. When I got bored of BLM and needed a new job, I was desperate for something that would challenge me. What could possibly be more challenging than being a taru tank? All my goals in this game now thrive on tanking the biggest toughest mobs in the game, and thats what keeps me going. NIN can be also great DDs, but if thats the ONLY thing you like about it, might as well just stick with your WAR because there isn't a huge world of difference between the two jobs melee wise.

I don't what to tell you tbh, you said you want something that isn't just engage and attack, you dont like tanking, you dont like support, and you don't seem to have much interest in healing. Doesn't seem like your going to enjoy any of the jobs this game offers.

Yeah, you learn a shit ton about this game when you play BST as stated, specially how hate works, how to avoid argo and learning an area by heart. Its nice to know which mobs will argo and how, and where a certain mob will pop and when. What that mob is week to and how to get the best possible out of it.

BST is also a good money maker, cheap equip if you wanna take the lazy route and every drop is yours to keep; I think after leveling BST I had a total of 12 stacks of BSs and about 6 stacks of KSs, somewhere around there.

You can level when and how you want, and do whatever you please. The downsides of BST are slow levels compaired to a PT, and crappy choices of camps and whether or not there is another BST or PT there.

BST sololy rely on the mobs around them, and a lot of times, pets vs mobs suck, and its hard to find a good ratio. Ofcourse bombs are great XP, and now that R1 takes even less XP off when you die, thats another bonus, I was pissed when they implimented it and I was done leveling BST. Oh how many times ive died.

BST is fun and has great benefits, but its a bitch to level, simple as that.

As Bst did your combat skills stay up to date or did you find yourself needing to catch up often while leveling?

Especially 50+ you can have every weapon capped in most camps (where you are able to melee). Not so much when you are xp'ing exclusively off of bombs for some levels. But at one point before I got lazy, I had club, dagger, sword, axe and scythe capped around 55. The only reason I let club slide down was the complete useless of it all and the fact I wanted to get quicker kills via axe for better xp. Bst probably has the easiest time skill weapons as you always have a tank handy for you.

edit: defensive skills outside of evasion were really behind as you very rarely get hit while enganged outside of when you release your pet.
