When I lvld on bombs in GC for like 5 lvls, it fell behind, but I caught back up to it after a level or 2. Then mid 60s I fought bombs again in IC, but only for like 2 or 3 levels. Aside from that, youre always melee'n, so its not to hard to keep capped.

Yeah.. lol scythe.. uh, Mine was at 180 from leveling DRK long ago and playing with it on BLM, its currently 215 and ive been in boya for the past 3 days for a good 5 hours each only getting about 3~4 points a day...

Wow I hate 2h weapons, I thought Staff was bad..

Dagger is around 160 from THF and BLM, and Sword is 110ish from PLD, need to cap those too soon D:

Everything else except for Parry is capped.

Axe was almost always capped. It fell off during the bomb-sessions since it was safter to stay back and let it explode, than try and melee and run away (thats how I worked it) but otherwise, you're fighting EM-T-VT so axe will skill up.
I remember fighting Elder Goobues and steel shells from very early, it would take 6-9 pet swaps with the Mourchie's because I couldn't stand the other options for xp camps, and I would only melee like the last 10% (other wise my hitting would be enough to change hate) and after 10% with a fresh pet I knew I could kill it.
Evasion was capped from Ninja. My shield is like 104, I almost debate leveling pld to skill it up, but how often do I really need it? Rarely, but it would be nice to have full blue combat skills.

Ninja edit: Sephir beat me, orz... all the rest of my skills were capped from ninja (sword/dagger) club is 5 from cap, scythe is like 180, I'll skill that up if the upstairs in Boyhada is crowded.

lool you did that too eh? After I was done in upper delk, XP seemed like shit.. so I ended up doing that too, hell I couldnt even melee the IT crabs, the one time I did, it had 1%, I had full HP, I hit everytime.. but I still died XD..

    Ninja: I actually stopped there for a bit, and litterally got a full level on XP scrolls, I actually think I did that at a level before hand too.. it seems like upper 60s are shit, but not anymore with ToAU ;-;

    LOOOOL that's too funny!
I liked upper Delk alot, even after the BST nerf, when a pot would Bio2 a bat you could lose it, grab the other, and the bio'd one would be all fresh when you needed it.
I died a lot of times and just prayed. I remember telling my pet to leave (like 2-3% HP),
    Demetrick readies Rampage.
    The Steelshell buffs to stoneskin.
    ***Shit***
    Steelshell takes 0 dmg.
    Miss, hit 0, hit 1, hit 0.
Demetrick is defeated by the Steelshell.

I regretted meriting Feral Howl but seeing that its saved my life (BST/NIN) on goobues, having to wait on Ni timer, and an agry goobue, its nice to pop that and get Ichi up before he comes back. It's saved me a at least thrice, so I think it was worth it.

Guess it's as approiate to ask here rather than start a new thread. I'm personally going to start leveling another job soon too, but I haven't decided which one, so I'm meriting up on WAR till I pick.

I would like to level NIN but I can't stand/read chatlog damage fast enough to see shadows dropping. My NIN is 44 and I've been kinda able to blink tank (get caught without shadows occationally) without seeing when shadows actually drop. What would be a good setup (Filters/font colours/3rd pty apps/general strategy) for proper shadow counting?

I'll prolly go back to NIN and if I realize I really suck then I'll do THF or MNK XD.

Just filter other peoples damage if you can't deal with the scrolling. Make your "misses" some obnoxious color like atomic my eyes are bleeding purple. You'll get caught without shadows occassionally, no matter how good of a tank you are, mostly depends on your support (bard elegies, stuns, landing your debuffs, mob etc). After a while it will become second nature.

    Definately,
I had everything filterd except my hits, and enemy that attacks me. Helped a ton on chat log spam.

Also, if you have annoying random in your party that has /p spam after everything they do, Blist them for the party, I did it countless times, and undo **if you remember** afterwards.

I always hated filtering some content in the chat log, mostly because I wanted to see how well my other DDs were doing. I think after picking up NIN past Lv.40, it becomes second nature to slighlty glance at your chat log. Heck, in most cases, you'll know when you're on your last shadow.

I remember when I was fighting Raptors in the Sorrows, I could almost predict when the raptor would strike next and coordinate my attacks to that. Heck, having a BRD sometimes makes your life less difficult like on crabs...

One time in (of course) the dunes, I ran into a WHM who's Cure I/II macro went along the lines of...

    /p Curing <t> just a little. Cure I! <call1>

After trying to convince them that no only was the /p line not needed, but the <call> was flat out annoying and them saying "I'll do what I want", I left that party.

And yeah, that's how I managed to blink with only onscreen damage was by guessing how often they miss me and recasting approiately. Getting the parry skillups on WAR should help a lot when I go back.

Instead of arguing, I usually blacklist those kind of people for the duration of the party...

I used to do it without saying.
One time I got a /tell from a Pt member.

    "So-and-so is asking you something."

"Oh I have them blisted, macro's bugged me"

I'm actually feeling very similar to the OP. Bought and sold gear for a crapload of low level jobs try to decide what to level next (besides my static'd-hardly-get-to-level-cor).

I considered DRK; but I know the *wiff* from 1-37 just about drove me mad...long delay weapon + wiff = unhappy taru. I've heard rumors that it gets better...if someone could verify that, I'd really consider it.

I also considered WAR, because out of all the subs I've leveled to 37, I enjoyed it most...but after one more level, it felt too "bandwagon".

I also considered DRG. I solo'd it to 14, then thought about taking it to Valk and got cold sweats lol. I might still do this one, because if you've never used "jump" that shit is just fun.

I leveled SMN to 47 and after leveling WHM to 75, I just can't do it again...

I also considered NIN, as alot of ppl do, but with my - ENM merits...just don't think that'll fly...

    Keep the suggestions coming! I'm liking this thread >.<;

NIN is fun but it seems that everyone and thier dang brother has it leveld our LS must have at least 30 people with 75 NIN.

It's actually better than DRG because DRK can actually use accuracy gear.

SMN 1-60 was hard work. It got a little better when I hit 51 but I just put my head down to get to 60.

At 60 there is this fleeting moment where you can MB tier IV's and do more damage than a BLM but it lasts about 30s and then you're just happy you can out MB the RDM :D.

At 65 Fenrir cheers you up again and you start getting a taste of what it is going to be like once you get some grownup bloodpacts. You don't realise that in the end you'll be more thankful for healing ruby II on Carby

70 was a disappointment. Sure you get the BP's but half the time they suck. You wonder at this point whether it was all a con and whether it's ever going to get any better.

71 is awesome. Moreso if you ding and step into a Yinyang and an Evoker's... I did and it was incredible how much of a difference they made. Also you start noticing the 70 BP's aren't quite as unreliable.

You solo a lot from here because it's the only way to keep yourself sane.. and who doesn't like seeing chain 4 for 588 on bombs?

    http://www.ffxigallery.com/screensho...802-chain4.jpg

From 72 - 74 things improve. At 74 things seem to go crazy and at 75 you feel on top of the world.

I love having SMN at 75, I can kill so much stuff solo now. From someone who levelled WHM, SMN is my outlet for backline frustration.

Best thing about having SMN at 75? Watching shell members go from disbelief to jaw dropping when they see you in action.

Oh and 5150 damage on goldfish in sea at 74 helps :D I still want to hit 6k as I hear it can be done - merits gogogo!

The ls I was in had a summoner who would go on and on AND ON about how much summoners suck before 70 and how they're pt leeches before 70, and every time he'd go on about it it just proved how horrendously he sucked. I had the opportunity to pt with a great summoner on my pld from 62-66. Dude took care of everything from support, dd, and healing, and he understood the buffing from a pld perspective. He would never throw up earthen ward at the start or before a fight, because he knew I liked to get one cure before the second voke for my hate rhythm, then once it was established he'd buff to save us mp. I didn't know where a summoner would fit in the party and he just did every duty available.

    Good times long since past

At first I found it tough because I had been a WHM first. But the minute you step away from that and start looking at all the bloodpacts you have, you can usually find something useful to do.

I would not have taken it up if I had thought it was gimp, I'm just enjoying being 75. I levelled on WHM with PLD's primarily and on SMN with NIN's. Mostly cos my static PLD decided to go NIN after we hit 75 :D

NIN's benefit from stoneskin and they like their eva/acc+ but /shrug SMN's biggest problem is deciding which BP's help the party the best.

In most cases, they're not the DD ones.

Now to work on those 6k+ Flaming Crushes
