If you double up on people who missed the first roll it will stay on, this was added after the last patch. It will also be the number same as everyone elses once doubled up. Also why do people still argue about Cor vs Brd. I do think Brd is the better support class and thats coming from a 75COR, but that doesnt mean cor + brd + rdm combos arent good. Its the best thing for wyrms. Drop the Cor in SMN PT, drop a bard in tank and a bard in with fighters. I like to sub /drk with cor to wyrms just so I can contribute more. Stun, Quick draw, rolls, random deal, souleater (yeh i said it, souleater 50-80 a pop for awhile isnt bad every other land) and still managed to pull 0 hate even with 4 enmity merits from my pld. Moral of story: SE made the jobs to coexist with eachother find the right subs and get the job done.

with double up on missed initial rolls..

how this used to work was that if the person didnt have any rolls on them, but got double up... they'd get the message receiving the effect, then immidiatly a message comes up saying it wore off...

if the person had an exisiting roll already..... and received only double up .... then the new roll replaces the old buff, and lasts for as long as the first roll he had on him was supposed to last for....

like if mage1 has evokers on with 3minutes till it wears off... and cor uses blm roll, but mage1 misses it but gets hit with double up... then blm1 will have evokers roll replaced by blm roll, but its duration will only be 3minutes

that is.. if they didnt patch anything recently

and yes.. smart corsairs will purposely bust themselves to keep only 1 buff on them, making cycling rolls and keeping them up easier.. as well as giving themselves the ability to try again on that same roll, or another roll in case of bad rolls

also flux.. you really dont seem to understand.....
first , no one said you cant have bards in the alliance.....
guess what? the bard in the tank party is fully capable of landing threnodies and elegy just fine...
also, its not the corsairs fault you have blms in your ls that dont know how to stand beside each other,

i already said the minimum recast of any roll is 15seconds if someone missed the roll (with full phantom roll merits, you can reduce that to 5s)... recast on ballad is 24 seconds with 8s cast time.... x2 (counting both ballads) if a mage missed the song....... i dont see your arguement...

lastly... its not about the damage comming from cardshot, its the free damage(you can well hit over 300 as many people have done) every 2:30s (merited) combined with its debuff enhancing effect

Russta had a thread with various card shot tests in ballista and how much was enhanced...

EDIT: this is all i could find
    http://www.theorderls.com/phpBB2/vie...ght=quick+draw
was delekii not russta.. though i thought he did his own tests also.. cant find them

    this was pre-dia 3 / slow 2 / para 2

Wizard's Roll increases Quick Draw damage? I'll have to try that. :D

I also use Quick Draw on pulling HNM...it's very quick.

Last night my linkshell took down JDragon with a COR in the SMN party giving them Evoker's and Beast's Roll and that worked out nicely.

I agree that Quick Draw is underestimated and not used to its full potential. I had a hard time explaining to RDM and WHM that I wanted them to Dia every mob so I can Light Shot it...they were like WTF are you talking about?

The problem with this on a few HNM though like Fafnir is that you don't want DoT on these mobs and most debuffs are just that.

And to those are discussing a COR's damage...don't. We're support first, and then melee. A COR's damage output is only meant to be residual at best.

Threnody alone is worth more than COR's MAB+MAC rolls combined, and thats before you consider Elegy and Finale, and I don't know how useful the new hate abilities are for BRD, but even at next to useless it's still better than what COR offers.
Ballad has a recast as well...not to mention you gotta get these blm's who are "running around like a taru w/ their heads cut off" to stand still for a couple seconds, whereass an Evokers Roll is instant.

As far as Threnody and Elegy goes...I never knew that only the mage's bard is capable of casting Elegy and Threnody. I guess Tank and malee bard's dont know how to cast either of those spells.

I find it funny how someone who is so fucking concerned with maximizing slow potency and gets off on seeing "HNM is Paralyzed" is hating on a Corsair. You are aware that Earth Shot will add more to your Slow than any gear you have will do, and Ice Shot will do a lot for paralyze proc rate.

I thought you need to light shot BEFORE the dia cast to do the enhanced dia.

Shit...hell if I know. LOL. If that's true then I suck and I've been playing it wrong on levels 45-75.

I really thought it was they cast the spell and you enhance it by shooting the shot afterwards.

On Vrtra I would do Light Shot BEFORE Dia3 right before Vrtra was stopped for the SMNs to Blood Pact.

The result was Dia3 lasting about 15 secs longer than previous. 30 sec -> 45 sec. A nice little bump, but certainly not a gamebreaker. I've never tested whether or not the the defense reduction from a light shotted dia is more than a regular one.

On the issue of Pet Rolls...

In my PT of 5 SMNs at 2 Tia's and 1 Vrtra :

w/ no COR average BP 400-600 few crits for 1k+

w/ COR average BP was 500-700. I've seen numerous 1300+ Predator Claws.

I like to give Refresh Roll, Accuracy Roll, when MP is ok, toss on Pet Atk Roll.

    YMMV

I'm specifically thinking of mobs that you couldn't replace ALL the bards with DRK and still win easily. Bards do not have as easy a time of landing elegey/threnody as RDM do landing shit (on stuff they can land it on), which is why we take 3 for Bahamut, and the reverse, there are mobs bards can land finale on that RDM have difficulty landing dispel on. As for the tank's bard casting those spells, guess which job is usually top of the agro list after the tanks. More bards = more bardly goodness and less spike flails and dead bards.

So what you're saying is that keeping rolls up for COR is so awkward that you have to gimp your own MP regen roll on yourself, thereby gimping your ability to support heal as cor/whm, in order to do so. Which pretty much proves my point on that.

yes... for quick draw macro i like to put in:

    moldavite earring,
obi of corresponding day if applicable,
ugg pendant (not that hard to get below 50% mp, though with my natural mp merits, with melee subjob its a bit more work),
hq elemental staff if i dont need tp,
    and ofcourse corsair af hat...
maybe i should try to borrow one of 2 novio earrings in my ls and see what kinda damage i can get once i unlock coffinmaker (40base damage)
    oh ho ho 8)

EDIT: people have gotten me second guessing now when to cast shots... i'll have to do personal tests with that sometime

    to flux:
no, you dont have to always keep a bust on you.. but if you are smart about it , and know when to bust and when not to... then you can make yourself more efficient at your job

when you bust you can still keep 1 roll on yourself, no cor should ever bust 2 times (since that renders the cor totally useless)... whats stopping you from making that evokers roll that one roll that stays on you?...

stop making up stupid things to argue about

Oh...I'm assuming you're subbing a mage job on COR like /WHM? I usually use /RNG or /NIN, but have brought /WHM to Fafnir fights.

well i havnt done the big name fights as corsair.. mostly cause im better needed there as whm, and its not 75 yet...

norelco are you talking about ugg pendant and activating latent?

ive done smaller things as cor, and if im in a blm pt.. then yes i'd sub whm or rdm (depending on aoe/status effects of mobs, only cause rdm gives MAB trait....)

with /mage its easy to hit threshold to activate MAB by just using up mp, but if you're /melee then technically if you have 0 mp merits, equipping the ugg pendant would give you 0/20 mp and that is enough to activate it...

in my case.. since i do have mp merits... i have to play around with gear a bit inorder to be at 50% .. usually equipping/de-equipping cassie earring does the job >.o

If that's a retort to COR support healing, in fights like that, would a COR sub-healing even make a difference? My LS does big fights and gets along just fine with just one(or two, whatever) real healer and then meanwhile sustains themselves(PLD tanks). Healers were so good that they take care of everyone. I've to date never came /WHM to Fafhogg. I come WAR/SAM, WAR/NIN, whichever I come as, healer takes care of me, tanks, and everyone else that needs to be taken care of. Not with one MP problem. I dunno what the BRD/WHMs do. They can Cure if they want, but it's for sure not needed.

If that's a valid question however, then they're as accurate as they're geared and supported. Just like anyone else that attacks.

I don't know...I just think people trying to use mage subs on COR is like trying to fit a square peg into a round hole.

To be honest, the only reason I subbed /WHM for Fafnir was because I wanted to get there in time for pop so I ported myself. When we got claim I found my ranged attack was gimped by not having /RNG subbed so at that point I was rolling for the melee and the WHM in my party.

I had like...140 mp, so I was throwing a Curaga I or II and helping remove paralyze when I could. The only shots I was connecting on were Earth Shots for 180 (I still have a Hexagun, no Coffinmaker yet). Every other shot was hitting for 22.

    COR75/RNG37:
    -Marksmanship Rating B, 250 skill at 75
    Traits:
-Accuracy Bonus II ((Ranged) Accuracy +22)
    JA's:
    -Sharpshot
    -Barrage
-Quick Draw 200+ damage every 3 minutes, as well as enhancement to debuffs (not sure if using Thunder Shot before a Thunder nuke enhances damage as well).
-Random Deal (may recharge certain important JA's for other party members, sup Berserk)

an abundance of ranged accuracy gear, cost effective ranged accuracy gear
    Main: Trailer's Kukri (+14)
    Sub: nope
    Ranged: Coffinmaker (+9)
    Ammo: nope
    Head: OHat (+10)
    Neck: Chram (+10)
    Ear1: Vision Earring (+2)
    Ear2: Beater's Earring (+3)
    Body: Pahluwan Khazagand (+10)
    Hands: Wyrmal Hands (+10)
    Ring1: Merman's Ring (+10)
    Ring2: Merman's Ring (+10)
Back: nothing cost effective here, lol Jaeger Mantle
    Waist: Precise Belt (+5)
    Legs: Dusk Trousers (+10)
    Feet: Corsair's Bottes (+2 AGI+2)

Total RACC+127, + can eat sushi. With the exception of Chram and Dusk Trousers, nothing in there is ridiculously expensive.

    I use Behemoth Rings...those are +11 RACC each (+1's are 12 each).

Also, most COR/RNG I know prefer to use Gun Belt (+5 Marksmanship) for their Waist Slot to bump on their Marksmanship to 255. Good list of other gear, I'll have to print that out.

I use Amemet Mantle + 1 for back...RATT never hurts if you can't fill it in with RACC.

i don't know why that would an invalid question. a big use of CORs as discussed in this thread is in the BLM and SMN PTs, how well supported would they be for Ranged Attacks in those situations? they're certainly not going to see many BRDs in the same PT giving them Minuet. they're not even going to get that many Rolls supporting themselves.

and "Just like anyone else that attacks" besides Ridill WARs, no one else is sporting a less than A- Rating.

i don't see how throwing out Curagas in the BLM PT after Wing is a much worse use of the SJ than getting in a few extra Ranged shots in.

That's not an arguement for them going /WHM, IMO. It's an arguement that they should be /RNG or /COR (for greater RAcc) because the card shots can miss...

    actually they cant >.>

magic doesnt miss, and the card shots are elemental based.

Why not? You can get 2 + 2 rolls off before the first one starts to wear off again...if you're in a party with say 5 SMN you can easily give them refresh + pet attack and still have plenty of time to give yourself hunters roll + chaos roll if you were so inclined.
