I think he knew that already. He was probably refering to how useless those area were by sucking at the thing they were made for: farming coin.

actually make terrain matter. right now there are very limited uses to it and most of them are considered exploits. don't make them exploits, make them part of the normal strat. also make better adds, not just bombs, elementals, skeletons that will aggro you if you get close.

put an NM in a castle-like area, put RNG and BLM adds up on top of towers that will stay up there and shoot down at people, put healers up there. make it so that the alliance have to split people up to deal with them while fighting the NM.

you can make the the actual NMs easier and make the overall fights harder to win. have players concentrate on strategy and coordination instead of zerging things with more people, more merits, more Kraken DRKs, etc.
    See: Gration, Amaltheia, Kurrea.

Gimmicks dont make a fight harder, and most people are just going to find them annoying. Theyre all interesting/fun encounters the first time around, but theyre not something you want to repeat.

Hydra would be a great encounter (drops aside) if he werent so susceptible to melee damage. Im not too big a fan of cerberus anymore, because stun or die is a pretty lame way to add a challenge. But with Hydra, if you were to cut melee like you did with magic(maybe boost magic a little in the process), it would take precision coordination between the two shields in order to do enough damage to take him down, instead of just hoping for a few back to back polar shields while you TPburn.

CoP dynamis' are also great with their scheme of triggers, but the time limit is terrible. There needs to be like, an independant time limit in which you take the triggers, and then a fresh time limit once you engage the boss. I like your mandy idea, because the only triggers you do in the CoP dynamis' are the ones that allow you to stay alive just long enough to zerg.. which sucks.

And, dare I say this, Absolute Virtue. If that stupid 'jailor weapon' theory actually was the way to seal certain attributes of AV... he would be a MUCH better encounter then he is currently.

Please note the Playstation 3 Boxes on the ground... Little out of place if PS3 isn't supporting FFXI.
It's at the Tokyo Game Show, and Sony is giving away their swag in PS3 bags...

I'd like a mob that looks like Weird Al's portrayal of Rambo in UHF. He would be a ripped up dude with a bad-ass mullet, red bandana and a fat fucking machine gun with unlimited ammo n'shit. Rambo pop every 30min in either Jeuno, Whitegate, AlZhabi and Windurst. (for the purpose of taru genocide) As a result of Rambo's unlimited ammo and limitless power he will immediately begin to destroy his surroundings upon spawn, this includes buildings and even mountains. His bullets hit you for 10k damage and when you die you explode instead of falling down.

Sage Sundi already knows about this and it's in dat files.

You shall not use your environment to your advantage!

i don't know what you're talking about. i've killed all those 3 and they don't do anything like what i was suggesting. there's nothing time coordinated about those 3 mobs, there's nothing about them that make you choose to do one thing or the other. there's nothing about them that makes you split up into groups and have to have really good coordination between the groups.

Amaltheia is the closest one to being good but there aren't enough IT Rams around that makes the fight actually difficult. you also don't have to kill them, more NMs need more adds that you are forced to kill.

also the drop is worthless except the 1 or 2 times in a year when you actually need one. utlimately, NM fights, as hard or fun as they are to participate in, are not something you want to repeat if the drops from the main NM is not worth going back for.

almost anything would be much better than the current AV since the current one as we know it seems mostly based on luck.

You technically dont have to stun cerberus once to kill it without wiping or even coming close to it.

Cerberus is still easily do-able, no doubt. Doesn't change the fact I liked standing on that wall as a mage. I enjoyed the gimmick for how long it lasted XD

Ah, sounds like the plans for COR, PUP, and BLU AF2, maybe. Putting in a way to utilize new areas also towards relic weapons not a horrible idea; if they didn't do something, it'd be highly unlikely Dynamis shells would want to pick up new zones or events just to get AF for 3 jobs.

Maybe relic rings! Relic earrings! Relic capes for jobs that currently get belts, or belts for jobs that currently get capes.

Because you know we all need more rare/ex stuff. Yup.
