    .Dat Macro File Location?

Hello, Long time reader first time poster.

The question I have is were are the macro files located in the FFXI directory (pathname)? If they are individual files for each pallete I should be able to copy/remove to make multiple sets?

The problem I am having are my multiple jobs. As of right now I have every macro pallete (all 10) Filled and I need more space. The plan was to possibly save and remove say for example my THF macro's to use those as a 2nd set of say RDM macros. Then when I wanted to exp THF I could simply do a file switch.

I am just wondering If this is possible, because this would make my life alot easier. If not, then I guess I'll have to find another way to deal with this problem (I allready used .txt extensions and have read of loading full macro sets in a similar manner?). Thanks for any info that you guys have in advance.

what you could do is use windower and make folders like THF, RDM, and in those folder have identicle file names.

rdm folder will have macroalt1.txt, macroalt2.txt, and so on
thf folder will have macroalt1.txt, macroalt2.txt, and so on

so you can use one palette of macros endlessly by only copying/moving files around back and forth depending on the job youre using.. just an example.

or im sure one of those macro editing utilitys allows importing and exporting but it would seem like a bigger annoyance.

    C:\Program Files\PlayOnline\SquareEnix\FINAL FANTASY XI\USER\(content id)\mcrX.dat

Where (content id) is a 6 character folder and X is either not present or 1-9.

Each .dat is a macro row, both ctrl and alt.

    Inside the USER\xxxxxx folder, there's 10 files (mcr.dat, mcr1.dat - mcr9.dat) which holds the 10 rows of macros.

I created some simple BAT files that swap these around (COPY mcr*.dat JOB) so now each of my jobs has 10 rows to use for macros.

Just wish I could somehow automate the process so the files swapped when I change jobs at the Moogle... instead of having to manually remember what is currently loaded, save it in the right place, then load my new job.

Thanks I like this idea, I'll see what I can do with it. I personally don't like it from an organization standpoint as I will have to open multiple .txt files with the same name just to figure out what they accually are, unlike saying rdm_haste.txt but If it works it works.

Maybe we can talk in-game about this. But again exactly what I want to accomplish. Thanks!

I always found it odd/annoying, 18 jobs now and only 10 macro tables, and most jobs require more than one page. It can't be that bad to add in 10 more pages, but meh...

You run out of inventory space way before you run out of macro space.

6 Jobs at 75 and I'm going to start on my 7th, between storage, 1 mule and mog locker (Rented till Christmas 2007) I've been able to manage my inventory alright.
