Read Machiavelli's The Prince
Read every little thing he writes about how a Prince should build and maintain a state, and apply it to your LS.

Why not use Sun-Tsu's Art of War?Originally Posted by Daahan
Well Machiavelli didn't exactly write the prince because he thought government should be run as a despot, like many hnmls's.
Because Machiavelli's guide to the maintenence of a state has a lot more detail than Sun Tzu's. Unlike Sun, Machiavelli does not stray too much in to military tactics and military maintenence, but makes it clear that a strong military that's your own military is neccessary. But don't derail this thread with Sun Tzu vs. Mach because I like the content of this thread.Originally Posted by Gatsby

What he ultimately failed to realize is that people overcome fear. Humans will eventually decide that the current state of things is so horrible, that they would rather die in hopes of changing something than try to preserve the current state. Fear or despotism cannot replace the need for complacency.
(watch how I get this back on track now)
The same can be said for an endgame shell. If the leaders act like despotic tyrants, the members of the shell will be encouraged to leave. And should do so.

Mach's implication of fear is not the implication you are thinking about. When Mach says it's better to be feared, it doesn't mean that you have to be a despot and turn the state in to a horrible place where everyone is always in fear of dying.
Mach himself says that love and fear can co-exist, just that too much love makes the people have high expectations. **Hence why showing too much favor towards one person in your LS as a leader can often cause that person to expect more while diminishing the trust of the other members**
According to Mach, the people will be happy as long as you don't take their property and you don't take their women. For a LS leader, the people will be happy as long as you don't take the priveledges they have earned from their hard work and you don't take away their time by not being properly rewarded.
You're all off the mark. To run a successful linkshell, you need a massive testicular fortitude. The female players will follow you in hopes of nookie and the males will follow you in awe.
Yes, you did miss something. It is the combination of the three, not each one individually. Maybe its just me, but I find a 40 year old cheating in a video game pathetic.Originally Posted by Foustian

Everyone cares about what I say because I'm great/awesome.
I can't believe you typed all of that Phir <-<; Most intelligent people, who read this thread and responded, could comprehend what was typed. Let the guy be in his own world; he likes it that way.
lol, 4 pld's with Aegis could take down NQ behemoth easilyOriginally Posted by Merryck
2 of the past 3 NQ Behemoth our LS got was solo'd by one of our PLD's ,Osaseko, down to 15-18% both times. Your a fucking idiot if you don't think 4 PLD, esp. with Aegis, cannot kill NQ Behe.
Hell, she held KB for 14 minutes solo as well a few weeks back.
Machiavelli only wrote the Prince to impress a rich family in Florence (the Medicis?)so they would allow him to return there. Its very possible he didn't believe in what he was writing.
NQ B is a fucking joke, I've trio'd lolAdamantoise in less than 10 min and killed B with 5 in less than 10.Originally Posted by Weltall
That is not fact, that is an issue that's currently being debated by historians and also a question that may never be answered. Yes the family was the Medici family. If your professor/teacher told you that that is the absolute truth, then they are horribly wrong.Originally Posted by Flarega
