After failing to get him past 98% for about half an hour (except for right after we killed the last 3 wynavs, when all our BLMs unloaded their manafont and took him to 95%), we ended up wiping.

its pathetic you can't even get past 98% after the fact you locked him. not to mention you wiped to an av that does no spells, 2hours, tpmoves.

We had a ridill war hitting for 0s and one of the best dd nins on the server hitting for 0s. 10 blms using SP managed to kill the wynavs and get AV to 95% before being raped/zoning via the updraft.

The regen and defense was off the hook, we couldn't damage him fast enough and still stay alive and it was getting pretty late so we called it quits after losing hate on it and having its spells restored.

I don't remember who asked/commented on the following but here's what's up:

JoL was easy as hell. We had 2 PLDs (me & a ~2 week old 75 PLD) tanking and 1 WHM & 1 RDM healing us. Very easy fight. We used SC+MB and nether blast spam to take it down.

We tried PLD/NIN, PLD/WAR, and NIN/WAR for tanking AV. I switched to BLM so I wasn't in there tanking him but from what I saw he was attacking pretty fast and hit me for 500ish a few times when I pulled hate (sorry, can't recall if that was with earth staff out or not). The problem was we ran out of healing. Some people went AFK (the ones I recall are a whm and 2 rdm), some people were switching jobs, others had just passed out. We're not a hardcore linkshell so after spending about 4hrs playing with him we gave up.

We had fun, we lost lots of XP, and I'm happy we managed to get it locked on our first time seeing him. We knew if he popped we'd have trouble. All the kills I've read about have involved using kraken drks as the main source of damage. We have 1 kraken club in the LS and the only person who could get to it was AFK for the 5 days leading up to JoL. It wasn't a great situation but we're not crying over it.

I'm curious as to why you didnt try SC's. I thought you guys were gonna get pretty far when you got him to 95% and I think you might have won if you utilized any type of skillchain. But its a learning experience, glad you guys were the first ones to try it on Bahamut. Grats on the Love Torque

A ninja in full Defense/-dmg gear gets hit for around 250 damage or so. Have a couple of those and with no magic or TP moves, I can't see AV being much of a threat at all.

As far as damage, don't use regular melee.. Monk Chi blasts can do 15-1600 damage, nukes are decent.. any melee can sub dark and souleater. He's not hard to damage at all, as long as he's not wiping everyone with aeroga or meteor the second they engage..

Well I personally think we did good on JoL with only 23 or so with 2 people 2boxing... as for AV I sac'd him on my Bst from Lv10 all the way down to lvl5 There IS one thing AV is good for however...

^Yea i was hitting for 0's and critting for 10-35 ...I then went to change to Sam/Thf but when i came back out tanks had died and I didn't get to SA Gekko on him so I couldn't see how much dmg Sam was good for.

I'd say yes, most definately. Aside from you forgetting merc kris, DRK can of course go double sword for high souleater damage without a ridill, and unlike NIN/DRK which takes 10% of HP for half of that in damage, a full DRK takes 12% (with an enhancement) and does the full damage. More efficient and I'm 90% sure more damage.

Don't worry about him, he's just the ultimate DRK posterboy.

Call me what you want, but saying that another job is better at souleatering than DRK is silly.

Uhm, probably the Development team changed AV a bit in the last 6 months but the first time we spawned it (March '06) I got a chance to land a few hits (BLMs were taking care of it and we were doing good using the good ol' Wall of Justice til some retards called a GM on us, all this in between 2 Wall victories on other servers, so we were basically letting it depop to avoid jailing...orz) and I wasn't exactly hitting for 0's.

As you can notice looking at the screenshots I was War/Nin, weakened and not partied (so there wasn't any BRD singing for me) and I only had Zerk/Aggressor/Warcry/MS on while using Sushi+1 and wearing my STR build equip for Rampage (pre Warrior's Charge though).
It might be low damage but I'm pretty sure that with 2x minuets, Madrigal, Atk/Acc gear and the right food choice a War/Nin won't hit for 0's, they'd probably do decent damage actually.

NINJAEDIT: AV wasn't in "locked" mode either (at the time nobody had a clue about how locking him) and was just flying back to his spawning point, unclaimed.

Instead of saying "Fuck, Ridill WAR's and 100 BLM isn't working, let's quit", try some other methods. SC+MB in conjunction with the elemental day was a strategy posted by the dev team?

We one shotted wynavs and took it to 95%, before it was figured out how to lock him. I'd say that's a great deal better than what most LSs had accomplished up to that point, excluding cheaters/hackers.
