No Mars Volta fans? Wow anyway.

    ABC order:

A Tribe Called Quest: One of the many underground hip-hop group that disbanded etc. etc. listen to them.

At the drive-in: Before Relationship of Command, ALL of their music was fucking amazing, in/casino/out and vaya are definite downloads.

Beck: Little to say other than the fact I listen to him while studying.

Big L: One of the greatest dead hip-hop MC's in the 90s, a smoother flow than a fat bitch on her period.

Bright Eyes: (I guess he's underground?)

Coheed and Cambria: I dont see why most rock is like this, Claudio's vocals are really an addition to the music

dredg: AMAZING SINGER AND DRUMMER. Catch without arms = great cd.

Guided By Voices: Get their music.

Interpol: I like both of their albums, the music is simplistic, and the delivery is overall welcomed.

The Mars Volta: Only thing that I can say is: My favorite band.

    Modest Mouse: Mentioned

    Muse: Mentioned

Pearl Jam: Come on? Why not?

    The Roots: Again why not?

    Sigur Ros: Amazing ambiance music.

    The Verve: Great band

    Wilco: Needs more recognition.

Not many people have heard any of Dream Theater's stuff when I ask, it makes me Considering they're one of the most talented bands i've ever heard, all virtuosos of their instruments, not many people have heard of/heard them. No justice Anyways, in no particular order...

    Dream Theater
    The Mars Volta
    DragonForce (XD)
    Strapping Young Lad
    Coheed and Cambria
    Avantasia

Can't say I really listen to much that isn't quite popular. I can never really be arsed to download new music xP

If you can't appreciate Dream Theater then you either can't get past the leader singer's somewhat annoying vocals, or you do not play any musical instrument at all. DT has a collection of some of the best musicians out there and they play together quite well. I would never say they are underrated though.

Ya, Tool and APC are kind of 'mainstream.' At least here, Tool is on the radio every other hour, and APC a little less frequent.

Read the OP, ignored 4 pages.

I've liked Muse since '98, makes me feel old...

    What's underrated, but shouldn't be?

** At The Drive-In (no longer together because two guys are now in...)

    ** The Mars Volta

At the Drive In and The Mars Volta aren't underrated rofl... those are really fucking mainstream. They each have videos on MTV for fucks sake. They also receive a good portion of press attention and acclaim from critics. Underrated would mean they are totally under the radar and ignored by critics, music TV and radio.

Dream Theater, Tool, and APC are no way underrated. They are all very well known, and while amazing bands(especially Dream Theater), not underrated in any way shape or form.

    Anyways, my list:

Draconian - Doom/Gothic Metal, check out Silent Winter or Death Come Near Me on the myspace.

    Insomnium - Melodic Death Metal.

Mercenary Progressive Melodic Death Metal? Hard to describe. Recently played at Prog Power USA.

Most of the other stuff I have is sorta well known in the Metal community, maybe I'll post some stuff later anyways.

    Leviathan

Porcupine Tree (never heard of them before an American friend of mine sent me a song, not sure how known they are in the US).

    Ayreon.
