LOL son of a bitch... I was so much of a total nerd and loser that I actually RAN a BBS in high school. LORD, Usurper, Trade Wars, all of those. Damn that brings back some memories.

Especially of the modem noise as people dialed right into my house in the middle of the night LOL

Used to dial into the local BBS every day and play LORD and Falcon's Eye. Of course, the BBS only had one phone line, so it wasn't really massively multiplayer, or even multiplayer, but people could attack your character while it was sleeping in the inn while you were offline!

I remember it was the biggest deal when the BBS op installed a second phone line and two people could be online at once. You could actually chat with someone instead of just leaving messages. Unheard of.
Someone link me to that, it looks fun.

    OMG LORD

best RPG ever, i wasted so many hours of my life in high school, freshman/sophomore year on that one

I miss BBS'ing, such simpler (and slower) times

As for action games, I loved The Pit v3.53, even bought a registered version of it since I liked it so much...ran my own copy on my own BBS :D

My friend used to have a BBS set up a few years ago that we would log in to and play every once in a while. It had LORD and LORD2, if I remember.

Ahhh, the good old days of 9600 baud modems.

Growing up in other places in the world, I heard talks of bbses. I was not going to dare though. I was not about to dial long distance to USA to try them out. My parents would KILL ME! Then we moved to the US and it was a gravy boat from there on. I remember getting aol when I stil had to dial long distance to connect. I had a cousins friend who was the NA for one of the local colleges here, best believe he ran many bbses. Within a month of moving to the US in 1995 I was in HARD FUCKING CORE! "Shit yeah I'll play! I don't have to roll any fucking dice and it tracks my stats for me automatically? SHIT FUCKING YEAH"

You wouldn't know that though because you've demonstrably never picked up a book nor educated yourself on the matter. Let me guess, overweight housewife?

All I did back in the day was play table-top rpgs with friends, like D&D and Changlings.

BRP, you can probably go get some from the official D&D website online. I know they sell the books for 3.0 and 3.5 for cheaper usually than the stores, plus any dice, sheets, etc. you need

Did and done. Anyone ever do "Trade Wars"? NOW THAT WAS SOME HOT SHIT!
I fucking loved Trade Wars lol, I used to install local copies of Telegard and Renegade BBS systems and play it offline lol... the good old days

I used to pirate games on BBS systems all the time, until I started playing Trade Wars... that's all I ever did after that, oh and I'd upload COM 1 to any Telegard system I could >.>

Wasn't Jennie Garth the "secret code" or something while "xping" in this game? What did typing that do, I don't remember... lol

I still get ragged on to this day by one of my friends who watched me play that once.

how's this for nerdy.. 4 or 5 of us would have an all nighter local falcon's eye party, advancing the date on the computer so we could keep taking turns.. good times. However I enjoyed BRE more than FE, especially those crazy inter-bbs games
