Buy mule 10 flowerpots, plant wildgrass seed, use earth crystal, check once a day, try to harvest on full moon if possible. No matter what gardening theory you use you'll get a load of little worms, crystals and yellow rocks, but also around a stack of Vomps every five (Earth) days.Originally Posted by Seebo

I'm actually inclined to agree with Flux on Chocobo raising so far. It was cute to begin with but having to burn a silver coin everyday to spend gil to see the exact same cutscenes over and over again got old pretty fast, and once I found out that the chocos don't even go as fast as rentals and can't be called where chocos can't already go, I just gave up on raising mine.Originally Posted by BRP
You don't need to check it every day. We just don't know exactly how much you need to check it to raise a good choco. In case you never noticed, much of the stat gain is from the planned, automatic daily activities.Originally Posted by Krandor
Still doesn't seem to be any real benefits to raising, other then getting some worthless yellow bird
The benefit is its fun and a type of progression for some people.Originally Posted by Krandor

Three chocos they could add, but probably the green one.
They greatly improved the red model, I'm guessing they're improving the others before releasing them.
So they did, just got them outta altana view before you could even raise em.Originally Posted by Jooeetheplatypus
Even if the Chocobos we raise are not full speed, they are still handy when you outpost warp or teleport to Altep or Yoat and want to get around without aggro on lower jobs. Plus this is still the first generation of Chocobos, they are bound to get better when we learn how to raise them and breed them into better lines.Originally Posted by Krandor
I really do hope that they change it so we can use them in all/most outdoor zones. (Looking at you, ugly range.)
Its really not that bad guys.
My chocobo has average strength and all I fed it was greens. I even missed quite a few days of raising due to just not caring.
Now that we know you can continue building stats after it becomes an adult it isn't so urgent to get in there and do everything possible to max the chocobos stats.
Just set a few care plans.. show up once and awhile when you're in the area to give it greens to keep its affection up.
We still might be suprised with chocobo abilities, but I have a feeling no one can learn them because they are not in the game yet.
I bet they're never going to allow ugly range (due to the structure of all ENMs), but maybe quests and/or level limits. for Xarca etc. You have to remember that the design of the game and those zones are such that you have to explore them before you have easy access and travel. It would 'water down' the experience for lower level characters to just allow chocos in xarca and beau.Originally Posted by Septimus
I'm still hoping that a raised choco with digging as the targeted stat will circumvent the insane kick in the dick SE made to digging a few months ago. Just now had the opportunity to find my chocobo's item after I put him to sleep for a week on accident. Good to see they're adding a command to wake chocobos up.
The only other thing that concerns me is the text in the original SE update info, which eludes to "chocobos approaching retirement age." I'm hoping this isn't a forced retirement. Several months of raising just to be told your chocobo is too old to ride would suck so very badly.
- Caring for Adult Chocobos
Your fully grown chocobo can now be called as a mount, and also become a candidate for matchmaking.
Once this peak of growth has been reached, your chocobo will gradually approach retirement age.![]()
I read somewhere that each egg was supposedly unique and determined at least some of the properties of the choco-to-be.Chocobo attributes will soon increase at a greater rate when using care plans....In addition to the existing yellow, black, and blue, two new chocobo colors will be added... Soon, chocobo appearance will slightly change according to attributes.
*Please note that a chocobo that you are already raising will not suddenly change color or appearance with this version update.
So now, what about pre-version update eggs? Is that uncapped ISNM chocobo egg sitting in my Mog going to have the same potential for faster learning, more colors and variety of odd beak shapes as one obtained post-update? Should I toss it and go whack another Orobon to be safe?

Well, either stats are determined when you obtain the egg, or when you turn it in, or on the day when such stats are revealed. Hard to tell which, but I'm guessing its most likely all determined at the time you hand in your egg. i.e. gender, color, etc. are all set in stone on Day 1, and you just have to wait until Day 4 and 19 to find out what it is, even though it was already preordained from the day you turned in your egg. So if you turn in your egg a week before the update, but don't find out the color until Day 19 (after the update), you won't have a red or green chocobo.Originally Posted by Raise4
Isn't the chocobo whistle a lvl 60 item? That's not very low level. It would 'water down' the experience for lower level characters to just allow chocos in xarca and beau.
