future hiro just seems so eager to divise a method to save a world, i was wondering why he beat around the bush, why not just go directly to the source and kill sylar to begin with.

Peter told Nikki/Jessica that he did it and that everyone was just blaming Sylar for it. Since that power was from the radioactive guy, I don't think the explosion would have even damaged Peter's body since they don't seem to affect radioactive guy.

hiro was wrong all along: the future hiro thought sylar was the bomb, so the "save the cheerleader, save the world" motto was to help him kill sylar

Well, Sylar may be involved in why Peter blows up. And uhh, there's a point to killing the guy who hunts other people and kills them...but Hiro also thought Sylar was the bomb, too.

I'm pretty much thinking only "Nathan" and Peter knew about Peter blowing up. Dunno if it was Nathan or Sylar at that moment, or what triggered the explosion for that matter.

From what I can infer, there are 3 timelines, let's call them A, B and C. They are all identical until October 4 when future-Hiro (from timeline A) visits Peter on the subway inducing timelines B and C. Then B and C diverge whatever day it is now that present-Hiro returns to present time, a week before the election I guess. Every episode we've seen in season 1 up through episode 20 takes place in timeline B, including latest episode, with the exception of the first time present-Hiro travels to the day after the election, where he presumably sees future timeline A, and the first few pages of comic 29 where future-Hiro saves that girl from the cops. Future-Hiro only knows timeline A but when he returns from the past and encounters present-Hiro and Ando in Isaac's apartment he's now in timeline B.

It seems like A and B are very similar with subtle differences. For example, in timeline A Claire is dead, while in timeline B everyone just thinks she is (except Bennet and Parkman). In timeline B Peter blows up but everyone thinks it's Sylar. In timeline A who knows, it could have actually been Sylar who exploded or it could have also been Peter. Timeline C is what happens in episode 21+ now that present-Hiro visits the future and returns with Isaac's last comic and some knowledge of future events. Does this sound reasonable?
