How about the other way around, why can't SE kick off all RMT, and do it over and over over over. Are they going to sue SE?
At least in US Law there is already precedence set against the RMT, per the case Blacksnow vs. Mythic. Mythic's ToS/EULA was upheld in that case.

I've made this comparison before, but consider again how drug busts tend to work. Do they go after the addicts or the dealers and cartels? Why? Answer that, and people will begin to understand why you can't just bust the gilbuyers, and instead, must pursue the gilsellers as the real source of the problem. The true root of all evil, so to speak.
In this situation I garuntee the buyers are the biggest source. Its quite easy to say "eliminate the sellers" But as long as there is flowing currency that enhances a character or tradable goods that do the same there will always be some lazy ass who wants to pay for it instead of work for it.

As long as someone, anyone, is willing to put money on the table RMTs will try their damnest to find away to get that item/currecy to that person's hands. Demand really does drive economies. Greed for that gil buyers mola can break any RMT into trying everything to accomplish just that. Its just a vicious cycle, and Im sorry to say it, we will never see the end of it. Necro this in 2 years. If this game is still running like it is now, we will still be complaing about RMT

It's easy to say "eliminate the sellers", but its equally easy to say "eliminate the buyers". However, which is truly easier to get rid of? Think critically on that... is it easier to eliminate a lesser number of players that SE can track by looking at a large pattern of gil trading, and huge banks, etc. or is it easier to eliminate a much larger number of players that don't buy gil every day, only once in a while, and don't follow much of any pattern at all?

Granted, neither are "easy", but I'm betting that you'll have a much tougher time eliminating all the buyers than you would the sellers. Not to mention, if you did eliminate all the buyers, what would you be left with? Not many people, with the exception of zooeyigjafjw and friends. Eliminate the sellers, and who are you left with? All the dedicated subscribers.

Find a IGE mule by sting operation [buy gil, find who trades] or whatever other means you want.

    >>Make 100% sure that this mule is one of the gilselling company's.<<

    Ban that mule.
Ban everybody who that mule traded more than 1 million gil to or deliveryboxed 1mil to, because this is a gilselling mule, ergo it gives money to gilbuyers.
Ban everybody who sent more than 1 million gil to this mule. they are either laundering money, selling money to them, or gilfarming for the explicit use of this company's mule.
Ban everybody in a 6 foot radius of the mule. Just to be safe. [Optional]
Allow any involved players to make a statment [ideally in essay form of 500 words or more] stating why they feel they should not be banned and defending themselves, Which will be put on the employee cork board in the GM's lunchroom for lols.

Oh I completely agree. I’m just saying which group, imo, is more the problem. Both sides are equal on this when it comes to getting the boot. My only concern is the lack of a reasonable solution... there is none No matter what, the problems will exist.

That said, I also want to point out there they shouldn’t give up on trying to eliminate them. I don’t give up on ants and let them pile up even if I get them every summer. I still try to kill as many off as I can each year.

And I do love this spec. ops GM group they are making. I had this idea a long time ago when I first realized how RMTs were fucking this game over. The only true way to see all that is going on is to go spec ops and hire a group to basically play around in this game. Not hire some third party to log a bunch of calls and file reports to big brother at the end of the week.

Another point I want to address is the idea that RMTs are necessary to keep this game alive. How many players do you think we will lose if RMTs simply run this game compared to if we lost gil buyers? Which environment would you rather play in anyways? As much as we love to conspire over the issue I strongly feel that gil buyers represent a minority. Sure it appears you see them everyday, but that’s b.c they tend to stick like a sore thumb. I truly believe there are enough legit players then gil buyers to support this game and that we would lose more players to a RMT flat out invasion then we would an elimination. If RMTs overran dynamis currency market, had complete control of my leathercrafting market, killed kings every day, raped sea, took over sky completely, if they had my game play in their hands I would say fuck it and PSU here I come.

    Tekki

(Ps, on the last comment I made. Yes I know they are doing all of that on my server and more so on other servers but I’m talking about a deadlock control of this game, where there is no reason to play w/o spending real money on tip of the monthly bill. Please don’t derail my point of player loss due to RMT by starting a debate on if the RMTs have the servers 100% by the balls. ::feels like that’ll happen anyways:

SE/GMs should just pull their heads out of their asses and realize that the 6 people /following eachother all /anon with names like Sjottutu Blusteringrobin Baubecant Chexu Xiaoyaya are gil sellers. You can even prove they are chinese by doing /t <Gil seller name here> CAO NI MA. And if you get a chinese response back, GIVE THEM BAN

an example of gil sellers is this

If i was SE not only would I Ban the gilsellers but i would just gimp being able to make gil from sky all together kinda like this.

    * Move all the money drops to an ISNM drops kinda like what they did to the dragon talon creating a flood of these items knocking the prices down to nothing.

    * Make stones rare/ex and make ulli poppable from an item that drops off golems beyond a certain level that is also rare/ex. There would be many Golems it could drop from on 5minute repop or 16mins but have a water like drop rate.

    * Add newer mobs that are harder and newer equipment for crafters that are on par with cursed items so it doesn't fuck them over along with a bunch of new synths to balance out the flood using newer items.

Gilsellers only farm sky 24/7 because its very profitable if you take that away they wouldn't bother with it.

    * Make serket, simrugh, KA etc hard as fuck and fuck this rage bullshit, knock them up by 30 levels and make them fucking hard as hell.

That's why you say things like "Japanese - WW2 - (Good Job) Chinese - WW2 (Too Weak) I got hit by spam from about 10 RMT's when I slaped one RMT player while farming and said that. Secounds later I got tells from RMT elsewhere and said RMT tried to blow me up with a snoll.

Too Bad that I had no hate with that snoll. Sure was fun watching him die, then watching the WHM who came to save him get mawled to death by tigers.

The rmt deal in WoW is pretty funny. They actually have characters send you tells advertising rmt sites and their cheap cheap rates, *but* you can gm them and they actually get banned :O

Though it's alot easier for a game like WoW to hand out bans so readily, since they have a substantially larger customer base than FFXI has atm. <_<
The current use base is what? About 7.5 million?
