Maybe it's different on other servers but (to me) RMT arent really that big of a problem.

This could be why RMT are so persistent. Not enough blanket coverage by them yet. Sometime in the very near future this will be fixed, due to the fact that over the past several months hundreds of RMT per server have been leveling up. I'm not flaming you, but apathetic attitudes towards RMT are going to change once they are literally coating everything that generates gil like flies on shit. Either that, or people will leave.

Maybe these are the end-times for MMORPGs that have free economies. It's obvious that anytime an economy exists where virtual items have a value in the real world, RMT will be there to exploit it. I've yet to see an example of a game that their presence hasn't had a negative impact on. I don't think I need to go over the various reasons of how they ruin online games (to varying degrees depending on the game) because most people here are very aware of how screwed up a game can get once RMT has infested it, since FFXI seems to be the epitome of a game they can take advantage of. GG SE with bottlenecks, open spawns, huge windows, etc.

I think the next MMO to really win this battle will have to be designed from the ground up to prevent RMT from ever being able to exploit it. Not an easy task without sucking the fun and rewards out of a game. It's nice to see SE is taking at least a half-assed stab at it, if what they say can be believed (I have my doubts) but I think it's too little, too late. Personally I am waiting to jump on Vanguard so I can experience an economy and environment that's untainted for a little while anyway. Once RMT start moving to that game, I think I'll go back to single player games until someone comes up with a way to eliminate 95% of the problems RMT cause in-game before I venture into another MMO.

Running around saying that 3rd party tools has nothing to do with RMT is like saying that unprotected sex has nothing to do with STDs. Sure the majority of people having unprotected sex aren't getting STDs but some of them are.

He never said the rep was a dickhead because he got banned. I believe the more likely reason would be because SE employees have shown a repeated trend of ineptitude and ignorance.

Whenever I called SE they have always been nice and helpful, it's the GM's that are worthless. Ok then serve out your time, but be forwarned that your account is now red flagged so whenever you call for help, don't be suprised that they are dickheads again, because SE hates cheaters.

I'm not trying to be a dickhead here, but your probably not the only mad player that the SE Rep has had to deal with that day because of people calling and asking why they were suspended for using 3rd party tools. You should be happy that SE is giving you a warning and not banning you all together.

Dude.... I was not mad in any way, I'm always nice to customer service reps because I've done a little bit of that myself. I'm sure you are right he dealt with people asking why they were suspended, but I'm not an idiot like that that is gonna deny the reason I got suspended. All I asked was when the suspension would be over so I can get back to helping my LS.
