    Laptop vid card.

    Hi, Im buyin a new laptop tonight from Future Shop.

    Acer Aspire AMD Turion 64 X2 Dual core 1.6ghz Media centre.

    It's advertised with a ATI Raedon 1100 Xpress (shared) Card.

    However the buddy from Future shop only has one left the demo...and told me hed give me 50 bucks off the demo. Which is fine I dont care.

    I checked the vid card on the demo and its a Raedon 200m .... he said not to worry they are equal cards. But he is getting commission...

    Am I getting ripped off on card performace?

    shitty card, don't get a laptop with the video memory shared. Try to get one that has it's own dedicated memory for it.

    That's if you're gonna be playing some games on it.

    Been looking at Dell's m1210 but some of Toshiba's look nice too.

    with a budget of under 2k, you can get an extremlely fast XPS. You should go to notebookforums.com and check out their classified section. A lot of people sell their laptops there and they're all in mint condition unless they specify.

    You can also use escrow to make your purchases or paypal etc. I got my laptop from there and it was a deal back at the beginning of the year.

    The ATI card WILL run FFXI, but it clips a lot, which is pretty annoying. If you have the cash I'd go for a laptop with nVidia in them (a lot of entertainment HP are starting to come with nVidia stock, as well as 100/120 GB AMD dual processors, you can look them up at bestbuy (they had a few of these around 1000 bucks when I was looking last month) and HP.com)

    it's junk and for the money that he's spending, he can get something way better and can run things other than ff11.

    Yes, it is, I was just sayin' that if it were his main concern that it does work. I, unfortunately, have a laptop with that craptastic card.

    Did you do something to my sig? I'm on a laptop at uni so I can't really tell.

    Edit: Oh I see it now! Thanks, I have no graphics software on my POS laptop so I had to go stock. ;;
