What I wonder is how we know what items really are in the game, and what aren't. For example, how do we know Sangha Earring or Birdman Cape are in, and yet Ifrit Mitts are not?

Ifrit Mitts were added a long time ago, possibly as part of an original data set that was never used (i.e. the Excalibur that existed before relic).

As far as I'm aware, very few items if any have been added since CoP that have not actually been implemented.

It may have been in the game for a long time, but how do we know we just simply haven't found it yet? People weren't sure Spelunking Hat, Heims Earring, Vilma's Ring, Parade Gorget, and now Sangha Earring and Birdman Cape were in the game, but eventually these items were found. Why bother expending effort looking specifically for Birdman Cape or Sangha Earring, believing them to exist, while assuming that other items that have been in much longer do not exist?

I'm not, I just have no personal interest in Ifrit's Mitts. Start your own thread of you want to discuss that

All of those items were added in patches, not as part of an original data set, therefore the original statement still stands. Whether or not people believed that they were in the game or not is irrelevant because they have all been proven to exist. I can't think of any examples from patches that still are besides Sangha Earring. I think it would be premature to think that Birdman Cape is not implemented considering how little time has passed since being added to the data.

Also, the reason that Ifrit Mitts would not exist when all these other cases do, is that they were implemented at a time when the game world was MUCH smaller and there were many less obscure places to have to check for NMs. Many of the items in CoP were different to verify because they were found in out of the way places, people did not have a lot of incentive to do some of them, and some of the pop conditions on NMs made it hard to check.

Sadly charmed ppl have some sort of movement minus even ignoring all movement+ items.

You can kite them so easily... like around the spring in sando or around towers in Bea. Last Sando I equipped Kraken in main hand and killed a Taru BLM with it... then I got hit by a 1400 Thunderga - good times.

Items can be put into the game at any time, especially items that have been in the .dats forever. Heims earring was found to be in Assault, despite having been in the .dats long before Assault was introduced. They could add old items whenever they see fit, and we'd never know.

Pretty sure Heims earring also comes from an NM which was implemented in CoP, meaning that it was implemented when they added it to the data. I really wouldn't know though, I haven't spent much time looking into most of those CoP NMs, especially the ones that involve having to wait 24 hours for the PH to turn into the other NM. Just because they decided to add it to Assault later doesn't mean it wasn't already in the game. It's really too easy to speculate "this item does exist" or "this item doesn't exist" though without actually providing a list of the possible locations or methods. My point, though, is that it's more likely than not that the Resist Charm earring is attainable, but it's from some obscure method that nobody has ever bothered putting the effort into, because 99% of the items that are added through patching are implemented.

Well, Goblin Drink was accessible the moment it was put into the .dats.

As for Heim's, I was thinking it might have been from Leshy, too, but was unsure. There was some other item I thought that has been in the .dats since the beginning of the game, but was only recently discovered to be in Assault, I forget which item though. I got that mixed up with Heim's Earring.

wouldn't i be more effective to have everyone but the tank move away from the mob to avoid being charmed? my linkshell just attack orc NM's in Dynamis with ranged attack and magic. I can't remember the last time anyone got charmed, although I also can't remember the last time the orcs even got a chance to use AoE charm =/

But yeah, most "Resist Xxx" items are highly dissapointing. I can't imagine Resist Charm being any different =/.

I keep hoping to find some Battle Slops each new Assault. I'm guessing these will never make it though.

Like others have posted, yes. >But< in low number events, it is a possibility that either everyone gets charmed, or those who didn't get killed at which point the first person decharmed immediately becomes a pinata. Overall, there still is not benifit to being uncharmed first, or resisting charm entirely unless you're trying to solo a charming mob.
