Well the other day I saw someone named "halftime folly", with a backstory describing Janet Jackson at the superbowl halftime show and somehow obtaining superpowers from it (it was a mind/emp controller IIRC). That original enough for you?

my only problum with a superhero MMO is weapon and armor upgrades just don't fit. I know they did the modfier tokens in CoH, but it was really pretty lame to me in comparison to armor.

I agree somewhat, superheroes like Spiderman, Iron Man, and Batman for example have gotten new costumes/armor that enchanced their ability to fight. That should have been implemented in City of Heroes in addition to the tokens (which some are awesome).

I9 for CoH is promising some kind of invention system where by you can craft enhancements and costume options for you character.

Nope, I play on Pinnacle. Drunk server FTW! And the thing with "weapon and armor upgrades" is that a lot of origin stories don't require armor or weapons in the first place. What kind of armor does a psychic need? If you want to give yourself flashier armor as you level up that's just fine, but it can't be tied together for everyone like that.

It's true that you can't actually "customize" the powerset yet, because there's the whole balance issue to worry about. But in my view, the customizable story and appearance is enough, at least for now.

thats kinda what I was getting at, I understand why they aren't in this type of game, they don't really fit. But a MMO without weapons or armor just isn't for me. Despite how much I like superheros.
