Why do people like chrono cross that game sucked bad compared to Chrono Trigger lol.

that's what i thought too but the same guy has FFTA on his list so.

i'm a big fan of Strategy/Tactic RPGs.

FF games aren't even real RPGs. They are JRPGs. In a real RPG you shape and create your own character. You define whether you are good or evil or somewhere in between.

FFT > FFTA. Chrono cross sucked ass, didn't even finish It. I think I got half way through disc1 before I ssaid screw It and popped in Chrono Trigger

Tactics Ogre: Let us Cling Together on Playstation was fun but man that game was fucking hard. Keeping all your characters the same lvl sucked and boss characters that where only 2-3 lvls above you, would rape your army. Still haven't beat it, got to chapter 4 and stopped. O well one day :D

Making this thread here to get opinions on people's favorite RPG's, even non-FF (but not to include any MMO's).

Few notes on some of my selections, Xenogears was just pure awesome and original. I loved the depth, music, and story as Xenosaga 3 unfolded, really outdid the 1st 2, especially the gameplay, the story compendium is massive and leads to many hours of reading up on its history of its many many characters and events.

Trigger was just plain fun and good, especially for its time, Cross was very indepth, and I liked alot of its music as well. Suikoden 2 was a hard choice among many others for 5th place, but this game was just very balanced and fun.

FF6 story and characters still by far the best, and best villain Kefka still should be the best in most people's books. Also some very great songs. FF4 just slightly under 6, but lots of fun and great story as well. FF12 not to spoil it for many, but it definately shouldn't let anyone down, pure awesome from SE. FF7 although not the best, it was still very fun, and its story was pretty indepth if you really get into it. FF10 was very unique, with the sphere grid system being lots of win, and the story was pretty darn good.

These are just my opinions, and I'm sure many may be similar or far off, but let it be here where many can post their fave's and reason why.

damn...FFXII is on the top of my list lol, even though i couldn't understand the story i absolutely loved this game and thought it blew FFVII away. VI was good...but i prefer XII over it too ;o

That is what made that game of so much win to me, I always loved using the two Zenobian knights (god, I wanted Lance to be playable so bad ; since they helped out alot for boss battles (meat shields with a healer or two could take on bosses). Shit, guess I am going to be playing it again this weekend

I thought that the difficulty level of FF5 was great, and the fan translation I played of it (before it was released in NA on PSX) was awesome. The translation of Faris into a pirate accent was almost unbearable for the NA release.

I never played the PSX version. My emulated SNES translation got lots of love though.

The playstation version was horrible, to the point that when I decided to grab a emulated version for my laptop I had trouble playing it because the PSX version had dragged what I thought of the game so much.

They aren't my favorites but since I'm on the subject, Bahamut Lagoon and Terranigma are both great SNES RPGs that were never released in the US, you can probably grab the ROMs for them online (you need to get a translation for Bahamut Lagoon as well)

Laharl only had about 50000 levels in him, it was mostly spent in the item world. Going through the Yoshimitsus (I think that was the sword name) and stealing new ones from the last boss, same for Accelerators (? the thing that let you warp all over), the crazy Power Armor Suit, stuff like that. The names are escaping me at the moment but the best of each of those. Also went through some of the other best weapons to level them up and steal new ones. Had ~5 Divine Majins I was working on when I stopped.

I was playing Disgaea when FFXI came out, it's the reason I wasn't among the 'first wave' of NAs to get 75 lol...

Among my favorites that I've played all the way through FFT is most definately #1, Disgaea is up there, along with Makai Kingdom (La Pucelle not so much)... Most games are a lot of fun as you play through them, but it seems like replay value is what makes people say they are better. As soon as I get another PS2 I'm hoping to play through Disgaea 2, Star Ocean, DQ8, Xenosaga and a few others... and then go back through the FFs and Chrono Trigger again after that.

-Secret of Mana and relatedly Secret of Evermore

As far as gameplay / overall replayability goes, Final Fantasy 9 is probably the only RPG that I've been able to play through 4 times without getting tired of it, even though I wouldn't consider it innovative or anything.

Also, this isn't an RPG or anything, but gotta mention Super Metroid as being the best SNES game ever for graphics, gameplay, and pimpness.
