He didn't have to cheat, just like you didn't have to use IGE's site to tell you when to take advantage of dumbass gilbuyers. He uses his advantage on the internet to get himself a Dalmatica, you use yours to fund your relic. Both are available to all PC users if they choose to.

You guys should just quit FFXI now if you can't handle the cheating, SE will never be able to stop it. It is like the "War on Drugs" in that it is unwinnable. Same with dealing with prostitutes. All SE can do is make a system where the cheating doesn't effect your gaming experience.

Cheating in Contra, Super Mario Bros, Pokemon, etc. doesn't matter for shit. There's nobody else you're affecting. Once you take cheating to an MMORPG, you're affecting other people.

If you don't like online games where people cheat, then you might not want to play games online. Internet browsers are cheating, same as looking up something on somepage while using windower. That is against SE's intended use of FFXI. PS2 users have to use a seperate PC to look up shit like IGE or Alla (same thing). Us PC users have our fancy windower, so we can play and look up shit at the same time. That in itself is cheating technically.

The difference is that his LSmates willingly followed someone who cheated (openly) to get where he was, and then got burned. Any comparison you make that leverages my use of legitimate information sources is off-base, because I didn't have to bot or hack to get where I am today.
