The substance: When asked his opinion of the PS3's competitors, Microsoft's Xbox 360 and Nintendo's Wii, Kutaragi was blunt. "We don't care," he flatly told the trade.

But while he was confident about the PS3's chances, the executive also admitted that the console's launch was not exactly going according to plan. "Right now...we can't manufacture enough blue laser diodes for our PlayStation 3s," he said, "But we will resolve that."

Never before have technology and being a dick come together to easily. I really want them to get owned this generation. A little humility does a company well. The quote reminds me of when Kutaragi said they could launch the system with no gams and it'd still sell.

In the end when it all blows over and PS3 is realistically priced and people are willing to buy one, I'll like Sony again, but until then they're being too cocky about their product. The PS3 will do well at launch date, because of the fact that everyone who can throw thier money around will want one. After the ending of Xmas, its over for them. They shouldn't give this "We dont care" attitude because they should. If they think the Wii and the 360 arent competition, then they have to be the MOST RETARDED major company out there.

Not sure what you all expected, Sony knows this race is going to be close just by looking at how multi platform the early games seem to be. So why should sony show some kind of weakness? Actually, Kutaragi is already on record as being the world's largest asshole. He was sporting this exact attitude when the PSP was launched and there were widespread complaints about the incidence of dead pixels and Square buttons that didn't function responsively.

I remember that. As I recall, he went on the record saying the buttons weren't broken, and they wore designed to work that way.
