I followed these instructions and they worked perfectly. Here is what I did-
Rar compressed the entire PlayOnline folder with max compression - it came out to 4.24GB (so it fit on one DVD-R).
Exported the Registry key into a file, and copy/pasted that dll registration script into a batch file. Burned all the files onto one DVD-R.
Unrar'ed to the main HD, ran the registry key file, and ran the batch file in the PlayOnline folder, and it all worked- accounts and all.
Hope that helps!
I'm gonna toss it all onto one DL DVD, but I have to copy the entire POL folder is what you're saying?
Indeed
Thank you. Guess I won't be getting this done before I go to work. Ah well. Time to let it work while I go work. Wee.
I hope this makes my client look prettier, I'm getting bored with the game as-is.
The .bat file worked for me as well. I don't know why "dir /s /a *.dll" wasn't showing me all the .dll files, but whatever.
Thanks for the .bat file whomever posted it!
I transferred my PlayOnline folder from my desktop to my laptop, imported the reg entry from my desktop, and registered all the .dll's with the .bat file, downloaded a vista copy of viewer from POL site. I get an error after the second "Play" button it says FFXI isn't installedwhy is this? All the Rom files are in the proper folder etc., I used the EU torrent of Wotg and haven't added an EU registry key, could this be a problem? thanks in advance for any help.
PS: I have permission for this necrobump.
EU users will need to use this in their .bat file instead:
I just got my installation on my laptop (via my ipod as an external drive, no less) to work. There were so many things to go wrong with this set up; Mac Book Pro, using Boot Camp to boot into XP, to use an ipod as an external drive to play FFXI, to copy all the files over and get them working...Code:regsvr32 /s "FINAL FANTASY XI\FFXi.dll" regsvr32 /s "FINAL FANTASY XI\FFXiMain.dll" regsvr32 /s "FINAL FANTASY XI\FFXiResource.dll" regsvr32 /s "FINAL FANTASY XI\FFXiVersions.dll" regsvr32 /s "PlayOnlineViewer\polhook.dll" regsvr32 /s "PlayOnlineViewer\unicows.dll" regsvr32 /s "PlayOnlineViewer\patchfiles\PlayOnlineViewer\viewer\com\app.dll" regsvr32 /s "PlayOnlineViewer\patchfiles\PlayOnlineViewer\viewer\com\polcore.dll" regsvr32 /s "PlayOnlineViewer\polcfg\sysinfo.dll" regsvr32 /s "PlayOnlineViewer\util\unicows.dll" regsvr32 /s "PlayOnlineViewer\viewer\ax\MSVCR71.dll" regsvr32 /s "PlayOnlineViewer\viewer\ax\polmvf.dll" regsvr32 /s "PlayOnlineViewer\viewer\ax\polmvfINT.dll" regsvr32 /s "PlayOnlineViewer\viewer\com\appEU.dll" regsvr32 /s "PlayOnlineViewer\viewer\com\polcoreEU.dll" regsvr32 /s "PlayOnlineViewer\viewer\contents\PolContents.dll" regsvr32 /s "PlayOnlineViewer\viewer\contents\polcontentsINT.dll" regsvr32 /s "TetraMaster\TM.dll"I say it's a miracle it works as well as it does.
Awesome that did it, let it be noted that if you try to transfer POL folder after using that EU version of wotg torrent then you need to use the above .bat file in the main playonline folder.

So I forgot to do the whole registry crap and I just copied all the ffxi stuff onto a HDD and moved it over to the new computer.
I then copied all the ffxi files onto new HDD and asked friend to send me his registry since now I have XI installed in typical c drive program files etc. Then I did the .bat file thing but that failed.
So I reinstalled everything(overwrote old files with new install) then I copied the FFXI folder from old HDD to new one (C:\Program Files\PlayOnline\SquareEnix\FINAL FANTASY XI).
Friend told me I was just supposed to copy the ROM files and let it do a file check to make sure everything is there but I already copied the folder over by the time she told me that ;x. I tried to go on and it did the file check and everything and updated the version for ffxi but I got that error msg in pic above.
Question now is, is there anyway to fix this or will I have to just unistall all of XI and go through all the disks and only copy over the ROM files this time?
Edit: did .bat thing again after reinstall and now it works >_>
This error seems to be popping up a lot wince WotG released. I get it under another condition. I installed NA FFXI + POL to my C drive, and then I installed JP FFXI + POL to my Z drive. The NA version gave the -9001 error after that, but the JP version worked fine. When I then reinstalled the NA version it started working, but the JP version gave the -9001 error. It used to be that you could have both versions installed on the same machine. WotG broke that ability for me. If I go without WotG, I can still have both installed and functioning happily. Only way I can get both installs working at once with WotG is to have two OSes installed on my computer, and to have only one region installed per OS. Kind of a pain to have to reboot every time I want to switch between JP and NA versions for text input functionality or ability to actually read story text quickly.Originally Posted by aznmajiktaru

Assuming you've installed to C drive and used the default path, C:\Program Files\Playonline\SquareEnix\FINAL FANTASY XI\USER will have more folders inside it, inside each of these folders it has your user files for separate characters..Originally Posted by trinironnie
I'm not sure how the folder names are assigned (They're just letters and numbers, nothing like PLAYER - SERVER.) Someone who knows more about this than I do could probably tell you how to accurately find your folder, but I've always used trial and error. Opening up a folder, opening mcr.dat with notepad, seeing if it contains any of my macros, and if it does: Right folder, copy these files to the other machine.
