It's called Scarification. I have a friend who had a Kanjii symbol cut into her chest.

She's a tattoo artist and I work with her as a 'body modification specialist' I still call it piercer.

Anyways, just thought I'd give a name to the icky pictures.

PS. No, I didn't do her scarification. XD

Scarification when just single lines doesnt look too bad, but when theyre like potato peeling chunks of skin off at once, that gets to me @_x

Id be worried sick about the possibility of infection, not so much the pain of the process. Thats the first time ive seen that. The end result is pretty wild looking.

scarification can look interesting but i personally like tatoos better. although i have to say caring for them is probably fairly similar both are open flesh wounds and need to be cared for so you dont get infection.

and ironically tatooing underneath the ink can cause scarification as well. when i got my back tatoo done the guy went too deep and it caused scar tissue to form which made the whole tatoo slightly raised up all the way around. it looks fun but its just not at the same level as the rest of my skin on my back. there isnt as big of a difference between scarification and tatooing as people think in my opinion.
