This looks straight amazing. I will be reserving this and buying a DS Lite the day it comes out. This loooks so amazing. I'm a huge pokemon nerd, I play it to the max though. I remember breeding to get max EVs and DVs or some shit a long time ago. I forgot exactly how it all worked but I had so many proteins and carbos and stuff to increase EVs are an early age. The trick to that game was to max out EVs and DVs while they were young so that the amount of increase in each stat went up as they level up by a larger amount. It's complicated, and it's something most people don't realize about the pokemon series, it's more deep than alot of what you give it credit for. A good team can beat a team of legendaries for example. Or if you set it up properly you can "sweep" an entire elite four with 2 pokemon, or one even if you are smart about it. My favorite sweep, from back in ruby when I played was Medicham + a Salac Berry. He could reversal (a move I had to breed for iirc) then you'd substitute until he had 1/4 of his HP left. At 1/4 HP his salac berry activated giving him a one level speed boost (equivalent to +100 speed). So he could just reversal for about 600 dmg onto anything, and could wipe out entire teams of pokemon without them ever getting a chance to make a move.

Online capabilities are what make this game shine though. It will take the entire Pokemon community to a new level. Just like when anything goes online for the first time it reaches a much larger audience. And with online play comes more known strategies. Like when I went down to the Pokemon Center in NYC back in like 2003 I was kicking everyones ass with my sweeping team. It was nuts because nobody really knew much about the game, especially not the kids with their level 73 charizard and 23 random other 5 pokemon. But once things are online there will be alot more people and more room to change strategies.

Then one day you'll feel dumb for breeding and levelling all your pokemon while kids just look for builds online and shark it.

Well, I've actually been looking at it too, it does look like a really fun game (and sales-wise it's seriously stomping anything on the PSP in Japan, maybe everything on the PSP put together).

Here's some different things that I've found out from various information sites (there were actually a lot to go on, i don't remember everything that's been posted so far, but...)

    Around 110 new Pokemon.

A completely new region set in the Northern part of the Pokemon World.

No new "types", like Rubber or Glass, but new type cominations, like Dragon/Ghost, Grass/Ice, and Fire/Steel.

Several Pokemon from previous games evolve (or evolve differenty, including older gens like Electabuzz, Magmar, Tangela, Eevee, and Rhydon). Several new Pokemon also have strange evolutions, and may evolve depending on the area they are in when they level up, or what gender they are.

Pokemon have subtle differences in appearance depending on if they are male or female.

The game starts out with you seeing the broadcast of a Legendary Pokemon in a lake by your town on your T.V. You and your friend (rival), go to see it, and are attacked by wild Pokemon. Using a Pokemon obtained from a briefcase by the lake, you and your friend fight the Pokemon off. Hearing of your battle, the impressed town Professor gives you that Pokemon. Your journey begins...

    Souns fun to me.

Anyone else too, we can warm up our pokemon skills before the game comes out lol. Maybe someone can make a BG server on it that we can use?

Is there any working roms for this game, or DS in general?

Far as Pokemon getting caught via unlocks- duh. That's been around since Mewtwo on R/B/G, FFS.

Emerald's fun for the solo player, IMHO. The CPU battles ratchet up notch after notch on the final island, so you've always got something to improve your builds on even if you don't have anyone to play against.

I'm hoping on them getting it out over here for Christmas (but betting it's later). Instant DS win (and if you didn't buy a DS already, you lose sir!)...grab any of them, even a cheapo oldschool one used. It's a fun machine. Pokemon's just a classic finesse, and it's always been "deep" on the PvP end. I'm looking forward to seeing what kind of boosts they've put into the battle system...it's nothing a casual gamer would notice, but fans usually have something to spooge over.

The day Nintendo releases the Pokemon MMORPG, WoW will finally lose in subscription numbers to retro gamers and 8-year olds converging on the same product in unholy numbers.

Guy who went to the release in Japan. Yeah, they definitely got the fever still. Had a DS Wi-fi match going from Osaka -> Tokyo, too.

theres working roms but you need a DS flash player to actualy play the games on your DS. no emulators are in decent enough working form to actually use for PC.

They added alot of evolutions and egg types. I wonder how the story will work for this. Maybe there will be split evolutions like there were for things like Hitmontop, Hitmonchan, Hitmonlee; but for more than those particular pokemon. For example, Jibacoil is undoubtedly an evolved form of Magnemite. Whether he's reached directly after Magnemite or after Magneton is what I'm wondering though. Togekiss is interesting too, seems like a more aerial togepi, but looks smaller than togechic. So maybe togepi involves into one or the other. Erureido looks like a fighting style pathed Gardevoir. I don't know anymore I'm having trouble even speculating, I can't wait for this!

My friggin mom has that. xd

    Mega Supaa Ninja Edit:

Look at the final Fire starter evo, look me in the eye, and tell me it doesn't look like a Mega Man X Boss. Look at the final Grass starter evo and tell me it isn't a total rip-off of that Genbu Digimon from the 3rd series, only with one head instead of two (the one where the fucking blob plays the villain.)

New style is one thing, that's why I was able to accept RS's oddities, but this is verging on plagiarism.
Also, and this goes for some RS generation pokemon, a lot of them are looking less and less organic.
I don't mean like they don't look like plants or animals, I mean a lot of them look like they just had a bunch of crap tacked on to make them look new or different.
RBY is considered the best generation for art because they were all very original re-imaginings of plants and animals and such (Farfetch'd still sucks, though. ._.)
GSC had a lot of curves and had a smooth feel to it. It had a real elegance in the art style.
If you couldn't already tell, I consider it the best generation.
RSE had a lot of weird shit, but they added nearly as many pokes as RBY (RBY=151, GSC=100, RSE=135, DP=107) while coming up with some pretty original stuff (‘cept for crap like Seviper, y halo thar Arbok).
This generation gives us evos, prevos, and rip-offs.
Only a handful seem like they had any thought or style put into them (Rentoraa, Zogaidosu, Leafia, Manmuu (pilosnub evo), D&P, Lucario, and some others).
It could be argued that with all the enhancements, art quality can go down, but with all the stuff GSC added to the game, I believe that's a pretty weak excuse.

Hmm, on another matter, I'm trying to download "NetBattle", but it won't go through. After getting the setup and start downloading it, the setup freezes almost instantly on this a file of "Unis" or something, either 02 or 03(I can go make sure if it matters).

That stinks, I wish you could get it downloaded.

I tried downloading it and it gives me an error when I try to install too. Something about the first .bin file and "error code 404"

Hmm, its nothing like that. Its just freezes... and it seems its slowly going up... so I'm closing it(well getting that whole "send a report to Microsoft" crap) and verrry slowly downloading it... I think something is wrong with the download file.
