You're telling me absorb-tp was broken? You're telling me it put drk on a level with wars and monks, or above?Originally Posted by Celeras
That's ridiculous, it's a stupid nerf that makes no sense at all.
Plow is overlooking four points I made.
1) It probably won't matter considering most merit parties are 'melee-burn' and mobs have shitloads of TP constantly.
2) It probably won't matter considering HNMs have gnarly Auto-Meditate and, thus, always have shitloads of TP.
3) Absorb TP is so broken as it is.
4) If you can't handle timing your Absorb-TP spell for when the mob has high TP, you're a retard and you deserve a "nerf."
Ever heard of this?Originally Posted by Plow

Well, it looks like the changes to sam and /sam are as good as it gets this patch. Unless you're a has-been rng hoping for the return of the good ol' days. Or a cor, I suppose.
Screw job changes, bring on the new gear and abjurations pls.
lol... sounds to me like they are fixing it tbh...
anyway... makes it more interesting now :D
Isn't Absorb-TP a long cast to begin with? It's on a 4 second cast time :/ Seems almost like the logical strategy would be to cast moments after a TP move?
When I first saw DRK's getting the move, they would often miss out on obtaining a significant amount of TP due to the spell landing moments after a TP Move from the mob.
Even mentioning an "adjustment" to Absorb-TP seems pretty dumb in my opinion.![]()
Ranged update seems promising, at least SE is aware of the fact they screwed up and only opened the gates for a new "RNG" to take over as king of the DDs. Just wish they would stop beating around the bush and put it back the way it was.
As for the Absorb-TP thing, its a fix. Also consider that /SAM (if its done well) will make up for it anyway, I don't see it being that major at all.
Lol..
Absorb-TP was broken and will broken for a long time..
Because SE doesn't know how the game works or how much TP mobs or how fast they get it..
SE will probably stumble in the dark not understanding why absorb-tb doesn't work as intended...
This will be the first in a long series of version updates that will "adjust" Absorb-TP. Trust me on this one.
Eventually someday 3 years down the road after no one plays ffxi anyway someone at SE will figure out..
Mob TP gain is broken.. our origional Absorb-TP design was perfect!
there explanation of the adjust doesnt make sense. They are saying that they are changing something to a state it currently is in. If u abs tp right after a ws u get 8-12 tp back. perfect timing which is rare u are rewarded with 70+ tp, but I have never been able to absorb 100tp when the mob just used a tp move, thus proving you already cant take more tp than it has.
As a COR & THF I have nothing to complain about.
Sounds like having +(100+)Racc will be a thing of the past.
Maybe as COR I can afford to take that vision or beater earring off so i can equip my Suppa for the sword skill... and not cry about losing 2 racc.
If they make it too easy to hit though, then COR/NIN just got a huge boost, and thats really nothing the COR community wants to see, although for meripo, may still be the best option when your fighting to claim mobs.
Maybe the maximum TP you can absorb is some %age of the maximum TP it can have, capped at what it has now, and it's being adjusted so it'll be a %age of what it currently has? That makes sense with the way they say it.
If so, it won't affect DRKs who absorb TP when the mob has a lot, it will affect DRKs who just spam the spell whenever it comes up. Penalties for the stupid = good.
The ranged attack change will be awesome for SAM/RNG. SAM got a huge boost with this patch. Also, if I'm reading this right, THF using Sushi will be able to land bolts at point blank range a lot easier.
I think the /SAM thing was implying DRK to use Scythe. They said they'd post details on SMN update in a few days. I sense disappointment.Originally Posted by Beckwin

watching a drk with apocolypse absorb 45 tp on average from faf the other night kinda bothered me. Sure it was great for him, and even greater since we had 2 sc's going... but when the sam and rng had trouble keeping up, yeah thats a problem.
Man, actually having to pay attention when meleeing and casting spells is gonna suck, poor drk's.
Maybe this update will let me play rng again without needing a shitload of merits to have fun. Rng was always great, but i hate being forced to spend a ton of merits on it just to enjoy it, especially when other jobs need merits as well.
Ebow hit 4mil a few days ago on Garuda. I'm pretty happy with this news.Originally Posted by Spungy

So, what does the first part of the Rng update mean exactly? Since RngAcc and RngAtk are adjusted the same, and you get the best Acc and Atk from standing in the same spot, how can you compensate for Acc or Atk exactly? Isn't it just basically sayin the same thing as the second half? That the "Sweet Spot" is widened? Or is there something I'm missin here.
I'm happy, COR is going to be my next job and I was stressing about how shitty my ranged attacks would be with no room for Marksmanship merits, but looks like there might be a little hope after all. As for ABS-TP, I honestly don't think it's gonna make enough difference to matter if you're not retarded/incredibly unlucky with your timing.

What it means is, that Ranged Accuracy and Ranged Attack penalties will now be calculated before "enhancements". So it figures out the penalties based on your range, and then gear and food modify/eliminate those penalties.Originally Posted by Girl

rng update sounds like crap to me. Its more of the same bs that isn't going to fix rng's dmg on HNM's or make its TP gain any faster. Its about as effective as the drg update. Sure i guess they're trying to help, but is it really gonna make a difference to the job? fuck no.(lol @ them nerfing super jump merits. classic)
