So.... wait for it..... Eat sushi and wear R. Attk gear? Honestly I don't understand why this is even a discussion. Go put on whatever the hell equip you want. Now think of a stat, either R. Acc. or R. Att. Whichever you want. now imagine it magically goes back to pre-nerf levels. You're telling me that somehow that isn't a huge bonus to RNG?
Its completely dependent on weather they fix ranged accuracy gear or if its still broken.

It doesn't even matter. Imagine your RNG before this patch, like today. Now imagine that same RNG with either pre-nerf accuracy, or pre-nerf attack. How is that dependent on anything? I'm trying to understand, honestly.

I guess time will tell then. We'll have to wait for some numbers after the patch is applied. It sounds to me like SE recognizes the distance nerf ignored RACC. You could have an insane amount of it and still miss a mob regularly.

At the moment ranged accuracy will fluctuate if they fix it, it might not so you have to equip ranged accuracy. You lose your Strength and your tottaly screwed DD wise.

My problem is the cost to damage ratio. It makes sense to me if you pay to do damage, you should do more damage than a job that doesn't have to pay per attack. Why bother playing Ranger if it costs you to hit a mob for the same/lesser amount of damage?
    Have you heard of bst?

I just had Aurik synth me up a lucky batch of 10 HQ diremite jugpets. Its funny that for 150 minutes worth of pets, the AH cost is roughly 1.5m gil. LOLBST

Merit parties really are everything to you people now, huh? Overlook that fact that rng can do 8k+ to DL in 4 shots, just because they cant get tp as fast in exp.

    Ever heard of tradeoff?

Sounds like if they fix the gear in conjunction with applying these changes, it will come down to a "meat & racc gear vs. sushi & ratk gear" situation.

I do believe there is a thread for those type of discussions as well.

Nevertheless... I echo the sentiments of people earlier in this thread about this change w/ respect to THF. Anything to help land bolts better is gonna be a welcome addition!

I'm strongly tempted to post the confused dog pic here... wtf are you talking about?

Unless I'm completely missing something, if you don't change anything, then nothing alters, and now they've given you a boost and you're bitching? The sweet spot is being widened (cue he jokes about rangers not being able to find it), and RAcc and RAtk now further widen the workable range. If you are not going under range, then neither is an issue, and with the extension of maximum range, you've just got an unholy boost to work on kited mobs.

    What was the problem again?

And to whoever is talking about the "they pay for their damage so they should do more" issue, really, no. Ranger have a part to play on any HNM scene. Damage on kited mobs, damage on mobs you can't melee due to AoEs. Just because they pay for their damage doesn't mean they get to make every other DD redundant.

After reading that I thought about the stack of AmigoSabotender jugs I have in my mog house for my beastmaster and a tear dropped out of my eye. Makes you cry knowing you spent 250k for 1 Cactuar jug that only stays out for 10 minutes and likes to only do Needle Shot (that always misses on HNMs) 4 times before he vanishes.

I feel so bad for the many DRGs who log on to BG forums everyday, and whenever they see a "Job Adjustments" thread their face lights up and their hearts race in hopes of a better of life for themselves.

But then they open the thread and read, and their hearts slow down to a bitter beat and their faces turn in to a disdainful scowl.

I'm sure that by now, many of their souls have rotted away.

(The supression of the DRG continues)
    Daahan you see into what's left of my soul so well. ;-;

With respect to RNG, the distance curve thing will still exist, they won't ever get rid of that. For those who have been wondering just what they mean by compensation, my take on it is that if you're standing at your "sweet spot" and eat meat, you'll experience damage like the old days, instead of the level it's been on lately. I wouldn't bet on being able to melee and do full damage, unless by whatever it was they said about broadening the range for maximum damage puts you into melee range with a close-range weapon, Hellfire+1 coming to mind.

Regardless, it sounds like R.acc and R.atk are being pulled out of the equation, so maybe the amount of R.acc gear we're wearing currently to try to compensate for the nerf will be sufficient for our old 90%+ hitrates on xp mobs.

What HNM do you kite regularly besides a KB or even a KS99 Chlevnik?

The bolded depend on the LS, you're in. Didn't RNG damage suck on Elemental Wyrms?

We straight tank Cyniprospopli or w/e (god knows what's the correct spelling of that) the same way we do Fafnir (a.k.a. War and Nin tanks and Rampage spam when I'm there) when we actually choose to fight it. And uh, Proto Omega is regularly kited? wth.

Compare that to the number of mobs that don't necessarily need to be kited, including Kirin. Are we to conclude Ranger is then specialized and only to be used for the fights you listed above? I mean, sure, you could use them on the other fights but why waste a spot for them if another job can deal more damage and do it for free?

The problem with eatting sushi and wearing R attack gear is that your damage will suck and what ranger uses sushi at 75 anyway? But I look at it like this as a 75 ranger. You can eat sushi and have pre-patch accuracy but post patch damage or eat meat and have pre-patch damage with post patch accuracy. But I could not be fully understanding SE patch.

Here I thought I was gonna read something about the boost they're giving to scythe, and instead I read this crap.

Currently, the amount of TP an enemy possesses has little effect on the amount absorbed by the Absorb-TP spell
What in the fuck are they smoking? The amount of TP the mob possesses has everything to do with the amount absorbed.

Oh well, I knew this shit was coming sooner or later.

He's usually kited when he's in the form that's weak to magic damage, I believe.

Which would make him strong to physical attacks? Hehe, why are you using this for an argument then for a kited mob RNG would be useful on?
