Yep, otherwise half the food stats on somepage would be unknown. e.g. Ikra Gunkan has r.acc+17%, capping at +28 r.acc. It would be difficult to arrive at the conclusion that it has exactly +17% r.acc, capping exactly at +28 (not +27 or +29), without this sort of info. Especially since you can't perform /check tests on r.acc.

On a minor note, wonder if they'll ever give those 4-5 or so jobs that can't equip any form of +movement speed a piece soon.

Something so simple as that makes a lot of people happy (like, gaiters).

Have the NPC you pay to board the ferry/airship tell you how many minutes until it arrives. Nothing like being stuck waiting for 7 minutes when you could be checking AH.

Negative. Weekly scroll quests are great, some laid back exp with no extended time commitment. There needs to be more stuff like them really, I assume the majority of players have jobs and stuff so an hour a night would work much better than three. The Dynamis Xarc and Beau scrolls are pretty weak.

Scoff at it all you want but it's still a very popluar activity and I hope they expand it for more casual players.

Reading the first few posts made me think if people are more interested of taking this chance or if they wanna make fun of SE/FFXI and not improve the game/ask questions.

I got a new Mail yesterday and they are waiting for questions to be forwarded to the Dev. Team now. But I wont waste my time reading through a whole Thread with only one none idiotic question/post per Page.

If most of you guys are not interested in this, why do you even post?

I am thinking of just keeping in touch with the people who already asked good questions for the last Interview.

I will read those whole 17 Pages later today and if there will continue to be 80% bullshit in the Thread I will either just toss that offer of SE people from EU/Japan away or only read PMs then.

Bercus, people are frustrated with a game they love that has had faults for such a long time - not only this but any and all attempts to raises issues with SE fall on death ears.
If you want a thread of 100% purely good suggestions/questions from people, then I think you should have stated that at the start. This is a discussion forum and people are free to discuss anything.
You mentioned before having a separate forum setup on here specifically for suggestions/questions to the Dev team. This would work very well as it could be appropriately moderated, and rules laid down for how people should post there. Have you spoken to an admin directly about this?
I don't really see why they would object.

This is the first time the English speaking FFXI community has been given the opportunity to actively communicate with the Dev team, so you will get a lot of people venting years of frustration. Can’t you forgive them for that?

Haven't read all 17 pages buuuuut...

Could you ask about the possibility of Aht Urghan warp tarus in the Midland cities? Sometimes it can be convenient to set your HP in the other cities and if you've been doing some running around, your Olduum ring might not be available for use, in which case you're stuck with a trip to Mhaura and a looooong boat ride. This could also help with Besieged lag.

    Bercus,

please do not take our jest as anything but a signifier to our lack of care what SE does, because we have simply lost faith in them and this game itself, if it wasnt for friends that we play with we would never touch this game ever again,

by 'we', i may mean 'me',

and yes, if you want to give them a suggestion from me other than the diagram i painstakingly put together, please ask them to utilise the text windows so that we can keep track of /t /l in little windows rather than entertaining the idea of incorporating a third party tool to do so, because i really fXCking hate this game, its irc with a live avatar, [/url]

    Hm.

Yea, ok I pulled these out of my ass..

Ask them what they plan to do with MNK.
The consensus is we're tired of being Chi-Whores and we don't want to be turned into some support melee.
We would like something that allows us to be more involved and dynamic, and can keep us in a PT, if only for a little longer.
We also don't want to be broken because we realize half the community will bitch and the other half will become a MNK. (I summarized this, used to be much longer.)

How do they plan to expand on Aht Urhgan and Vana'diel as a whole?
TOA seems like a nice first step to revealing the rest of the world, but honestly it's pretty small when you think about it.
The absurd size of the regional map considering the few actual regions is rather perplexing.
And what of Quan and Mindartia? There are many unused caves and areas that have been present since the game came online.
On the regional map, there are large chunks of land and many islands that just serve as filler.
Do they feel expanding on expansion areas is an issue, or do they believe enough of the player base have expansion packs to begin moving forward from Elshimo?
How are they going to utilize these zone lines, how do they plan on completing Aht Urhgan, and what can we really expect from everything beyond the current borders? Male Mithra will only satisfy us for a while (they better look bad-ass, BTW.)

SE said that they would make it easier to obtain abjurations in the near future, but that's only part of the problem players have with NM drops.
The best items are still in the same places and no steps are being taken to fix the real problem: There are too many people and not enough opportunities for the sought after item.
They seem to have the foresight to add more mobs to EXP areas, but not enough to adjust NM pop timers or drop rates.
It's the same concept, you're supposed to compensate for a large influx of players in every aspect.
The worst bottleneck is Sky. RMT goes there because they know it has a concentration of useful pieces and it can be a very tight squeeze when you have 100+ people hunting for a monster that can take 24 hours to pop while only dropping said item less than 20% of the time.
You can only monopolize something when a system allows you to do so.
Stop trying to cure the infection and make the body more healthy.
Higher drop rates, Faster Repops, and maybe make some NMs popped by an item dropped by a mob or something.
You can't use the same system built for 30,000 people and expect it to work well for 500,000 people.

Hehe sure I understand that as well, I often feel the same. But it is just easier for me when I read through all that to help YOU guys and myself when there are no long discussions/flamming,bashing SE after someone posted a funny pic ectect. That can be done in a separete Thread or not? I gladly spend my time for you guys. The only reason I spent 100$ to get to the Games Convention for the Interview was not for my personal reasons. Right now iam low in time and 17 pages is a lot more, when I know it could with a bit more thinking from people when they post be down to 10 pages.

If someone wants to help me again by summarising questions, please feel free and PM me.

I still think SE is doing better then b4. They try their best imo to improve the game. A lot can't be done withing weeks for example cause it needs a lot of testing (like changing NM camping what they will do soon now, maybe cause of the Interview??? we dont know).

Sure people are frustrated, but instead of flamming/Bashing SE, dont you think comming up with good Ideas, plans ectect it would help them and us more? Those things will 100% be forwarded to the Dev Team/responsible people. And no, they don't look just some minutes into this.

I was talking also about something, where we want time to rape the shit out of Mobs, maybe Assault Mission, remember? I gave them infos about that at the Interview. Hmmm now at TGS they had that Assault Mission... now with the next VU we get 10 new Missions, Iam sure we get what we asked for. maybe cause of the Interview? We also don't know.

They told me I can expect something done about Cheaters soon. What happened? Another 3.300 Accounts after the 1.500 Accounts were banned. 95% of them did for sure Cheat. I know MANY Cheaters who are gone now. Item prices also go down like hell, so their way was also right.

Maybe people think it so damn easy to better a game, but it is not always easy. They need to test everything and I still think that FF XI is a VERY balanced game. I for example have always something to do. And iam still not even one day bored of Limbus/Assault/Meriting/leveling low level job.

Iam also pretty sure they will change Kings, as well as they said to me I can except new Item in the New Areas soon. What did they announce now at the TGS? That we will reciece good new Items in the new Areas.

So far, help me instead of giving me more work to read useless posts please . I would really appreciate it .

Not really a question, and it was said over and over in other threads (and probably this one), but the point that need an answer.

    - Dragon aery/behemoth dominion is one of the biggest drama source and unsatisfaction in this game. Make player unhappy because there is so little gear distributed, and it's infested with bot. Solution: make better gear to move the mass of people, change the pop condition..etc...etc..etc.

    - Most of the new gears implemented has better alternative already implemented (and more than often, easier to acquire). This lead player to repeat old stuff instead of trying new content.

    - Any plan to add more HNM? Or content for end game ls. There is so many unused areas everywhere, and many of them could use something. Rebalancing the game is good and all, but 1 new HNM per update isnt what will keep end game players. Every update should have 3-4 fight that require an alliance to kills

    - Could add something about rebalancing certain job, but with recent update, it looks like they are on the right track

-RMT monopoly in sky and dominion need to be fixed (look like they are going to do something about it tho...hopefully)

Imo, what I posted above is the biggest problem. There is other stuff they could add too, that wouldn't hurt the game

    - Job change macro. Most player gave up on seeing this, but for god sake, they need to make something to allow you to quickly change job, without having to manually swap through 40 gears.

    - Need a method to reselect "one time" itemthat were thrown away. Don't care about the cost, just do it. Too many people got screwed up on their CoP ring and Suppa. Wouldnt hurt to request Evoker ring and other avatar's gear.

How about a Balanced HNM for everyone? Kinda like proto-omega except if you cast on it while not in magic damage mode it gets healed? there was Bosses from older FF's just like this and all were cool fights.

    Hello,

    Still browsing through the 17 pages. If I give an idea that's already been mentioned, please forgive me ^__^;

First of all I think it would be a good idea to revisit by asking how is the progress going with ideas presented in the previous interview, which seemed to be favorable for instance server immigration. The other would be asking about SE's plans to improve the entertainment side of the game. I love this game in most aspects, however being in end game I'm running out of things to do and it gets plain boring. I'm sure a lot of people feel the same. Mini-games, quests/bcnm's anything to make the game more appealing. Also questions about progress on adjusting entry to areas like dynamis and limbus so that time entering can be more flexible, multi-instanced in other words.

For the development team - when testing out issues like job balance, how is it organized? It just seems to me lots of job adjustments do not really have good reasoning. For example, merit category 2 some abilities traits are useful while others are just a waste and do not significantly help the job at all. My concern is really how thorough of an effort SE is putting in at improving jobs and balance. And is accurate data being taken instead of making decisions based off of biased opinions.

Another question I would like to ask is what kind of network technology does playonline/ffxi use? From sources ffxi uses a lot of different ports for various functions in the game. After the ddos attacks incidents, SE has done a good job at applying fixes to block those out. I'm wondering if SE is upgrading servers for better performance, communication of services, and more important connectivity of users. (My thoughts - i'm sure they're not using old technology like ancient ibm mainframes, but I hope they are constantly looking at ways to improve their server technology like Infiniband)

Now, to a battle related question. The basics of how the game has always worked is skillchains magic bursts. I was wondering if there could be alternatives to skillchains used in the situation where a party does not have any magic users, thus no need for magic bursts. One idea I have thought of is combination attacks/ws's - let's say the party has 2 melees who possess skills compatible with each other - thus they can execute a combination attack which both players attack at once. I know this may not fit in, just hoped maybe by asking this question it may innovate ideas on alternatives to make battles more fun.

Lastly, are there any plans on introducing any new weapon classes?

That's all I have to share for now

    -Arte

Here's a suggestion I would like to bring to the Dev team's attention.

Many people find king and generally NM camping so exceedingly frustrating because most of the time is spent waiting and doing nothing. People don't mind the time sink -all form of entertainment is ultimately just a time sink- but they do want to get entertained in the process.

Camping usually isn't entertaining. Sometimes, at least you get to kill placeholders and links, but all too often, there is literally nothing to do. And when you do nothing but stand there for 3 hours only to see another player or group claim the NM that you've been waiting for, you leave feeling bad because you have nothing to show for the time you invested.

In the case of kings and other 21-24 hour pop NMs, the frustration is compounded for many players by the fact that they play during fixed hours (for example, their evening time), so they cannot follow the ToD around the clock. This is an unfair access barrier.

The frustration generated by the current NM system could largely be eliminated by making the following changes:

    - make ~2hr repop NMs pop every 10 minutes, and adjust the drop rate accordingly so that the total number of items produced remains constant. This way players at least have something to do, and if there's heavy competition, there is always another chance to claim right around the corner.

    - give Adamantoise, Fafnir and Behemoth three copies with independent repop timers that are initially (and after every maintenance) offset by 8 hours and make them repop exactly 24 hours after ToD of the same copy. This way, each one of the three major time zones of the game would have their own copy and would have to keep track of one ToD only. The ToDs would still slowly cycle around the clock so that every now and then, a group would need to acquire the ToD of a different copy; but this is the only time this system would require lengthy camping. Most of the time, you would just show up at ToD+24 hours, either get the claim or fail to get it and leave.

The HQ versions should have the same probabilities of spawning instead of an NQ as they do now, so there would be roughly 3 Aspids, 3 Nidhoggs and 3 KBs every week. This seems appropriate considering the enourmous increase in size of the endgame population since the Zilart expansion was introduced.

    - other 21-24 hr pop NMs could be similarly adjusted.

Lemme see if I follow your thinking...

Make 3 copies of Fafnir** and people will only have to camp the one pop "in their time zone" and not spend 2-3 times as many hours in DA? Increase the chance that your extra hours spent are wasted because we want to keep the overall drop rate comparable?

This sounds super, I'm sure everyone will embrace this idea whole heartedly. In the 2-3 hours of free time between 'Morning Faf' and 'Afternoon Faf' evenryone can take a break and smash their scrotums with heavy objects to relax. Then back to DA for even less chance of something dropping if you get the claim.

I'd so jump right back in to HNM for this!

**RMT will love extra 2 more Behemoth a day and one will give a crap if there's 2 more Aspids. We will focus on the one mob that matters.
