well, number 3 (Good) is subjective.

but assuming you like WoW, then private WoW servers would fit the bill (personally, i think private Lin2 servers fit as well)

the new Battlefield 2142 might as well as there's a bit of persistance with your "character"

the only private server anything that was actually good was RO... most of the server emulators don't even run current versions of the game... and unless it's a SWG pre NGE/CU server, then retail is better.

no, I played it one time and desided it was possibly the worst game I have ever played. That is a picture off their website, the best part being that the biggest baddest boss in the game is a barney ape.

I played runescape for quite a while before I had a PC that could handle serious gaming. It's graphics are a disgrace, but considering there's no install and you play it in your browser it's quite impressive. There is an amusing pvp scenario in the game, it's pretty fun. They add content almost weekly, new quests etc, and they actually listen to their player base.

Of course, I left it for FFXI but every now and then I pop back in to see old friends and twang a few arrows into nabs.

Big ole list, not all free... but a huge list of mmo's... I'd say more than half are free. My recommendation, Saga of Ryzom (free unlimited, or paid subscriber... basically get access to different areas, but there are a shitload of free players). Enjoy.... http://www.ryzom.com

ya Anarchy Online's pretty cool, also been playin for 6-7 years. Its (imo) mostly PVP based, but there's still a lot of PVM too.

Perfect world is a pretty good one, its a chinese MMO and its not released in the US but theres a open Malaysian beta within this month that is english. The game has a item shop but none of the items have critical use within the game. If you cant wait for the beta theres a downloadable patch for the chinese version that someone translated into english. It's a pretty awesome game, you can fly right at the start if you wanted to, theres mounts and the graphics are awesome looking.
