Runescape is 'still' a festering pile of shit, and the playerbase is still even worse. What idiot decided an autofollow button was good as one of the only choices so idiots can follow me "trade" "trade" "trade" "trade" "trade" then if I actually opened a trade window "cna i hav sum money plz"

No joke, this is 30-40% of their playerbase. Advancement in the game is laughably horrible. I quit after a short time and did not look back, ever. (Went to asheron's call from there, shortly after the Dark Majesty expansion, for timeline experts)

I've been checking out this game called Last Chaos lately.

It's kind of a weird game. It's free, but it has like a huge system where you can buy bonus stuff for real money. I looked at the stuff but it's overpriced by a long shot for what it is. I can definitely see how it can work for em tho, I'm sure a couple rich people that are hooked could VERY quickly spend what you might spend on a year or more of traditional mmo.


Anyway it's completely free if you stay out of that stuff, and so far I seem do be doing WAY above average without using any of that crap. (There's a system where you can get basically a mentor and you get a special reward if you get to level 20 within 10 days, I'm level 15 in 2.)


I dunno it's pretty typical of free mmo's I guess (other than the rmt system), but in comparison to most of what I've seen it seems to be a fair bit better. I'd imagine that's because most freebies don't have a big source of income heh.

Also there's over 500k people playing as of a couple months ago.



Oh and I almost forgot, it has the one thing I reeeeally wish WoW would ever have put in, SOLO DUNGEONS!

Acclaim just released a new one into open beta, it's called 2moons.

As long as there aren't any major bugs or exploits and shit characters won't be reset so everyone's pretty much treating it as the official release, cept their game store thingy isn't in.


It's a lot of fun so far, verrrrry interesting combat system and healing is hardly necessary, the healing classes mostly dd but are very very nice to have around, everyone just carries shittons of potions. There's no way to like sit and heal, only potions and fish(work just like potions) and the very slow natural auto regen.

The combat system is hard to explain, but basically every attack has a knockback effect, making it so ranged classes easily keep mobs at bay and close classes have extremely fast attacks preventing the mobs from ever attacking them. The flipside is that when you do get hit, you get hit *hard*. It's not as bad for the tanks but as a hunter even level mobs pretty much hit me for about 1 pot's worth of damage.


It also has quite possibly the coolest pvp idea I've ever seen. Basically if pvp in the game were like mob combat, we'd 1-2 shot everyone. I have high hp for my class/level and I would easily 1 shot myself. So, there's a "Pvp shield." It's basically like another health bar, based off your own health and defense points. It dramatically reduces the damage, as well as having a pool 3-4x the size of your life. So it changes getting hit for 1-2k a shot with a 1-1.5k health pool into getting hit for 200-400 a shot with a 3-5k health pool. When your shield runs out, you get owned pretty much instantly. Pretty cool stuff. The knockback effect is still there, but not near as strong, allowing melee to cover the gap on ranged fairly easily. As a hunter tho if I get range on a melee midway or late in the fight and have my fast attack buff up (which is a short cooldown) you're royally fucked. Ganking is punished pretty severely too, so pvp is mostly limited to "gtfo my camp" and that kinda stuff, plus duels. It's awfully nice to be able to say dude go away and send them to their rez point if people are fuckin up your exp, especially with as crowded as it is right now.


Anyway I been having a lotta fun so far, I'd recommend it at this point. Lemme know if anyone does 8)
