I finished two of Chuck Palahniuk's (author of Fight Club) latest books, Haunted, which was mediocre, and Stranger than Fiction - a nonfiction book. If you're into Palahniuk and have read all his other books, Stranger than Fiction is really interesting, getting all the story behind the story.

Now I'm reading... Ghost Wars: about the CIA's involvment in Afghanistan from the 70's until September 10th, 2001. Almost a prequel to the 9/11 Commision Report, which I'll start after.

I always read 2+ books at a time to keep things interesting,

    The other is:
A Distant Mirror: The Calamitous 14th Century, which is pretty boring but has some interesting information about how life was back then, the author also wrote March of Folly, a quite good read about how governments and authority seem to go against popular opinion for their own greater good, Trogan horse, Vietnam, Papacy, etc.

Just finished reading World War Z, By Max Brooks. His last book was The Zombie Survival guide, which im looking to get now.

Anyways it's written as a collection of oral accounts of the events that occured during the Zombie World War, as dictated from survivors all over the world. I couldn't put it down, so if you either like Zombies or post-apcololyptic settings, it's a really fun read.

Back story; It's only been out for like a month but apparently there was already a huge bidding war, for the right of the movie between brad pitts production company and leo dicaprio's. Brad's won, so expect it to be coming out as a movie as well.

Yes it's the Dark Tower series by Stephen King. It's a far far far cry from about anything else he's written though.

Also I'm suprised at the lack of Vonnegut mentions.

They talk about alot of real History facts that are really interesting to learn, or to re-learn, stuffs you learn at school, but forgot.

Original trilogy can't be compared to other stuff that was wrote after, rest was so much better. But I guess everyone has their taste, if you dont like fantastic books or LoTR kind of thing, this particular series won't appeal you.

    Totally agree, lol.

Alot of people take his books way to seriously... Need to watch what's real and what's fiction. The problem is when people think that everything that is writen in the books (Da Vinci Code, Angels & Demons) is real, without making some research or thinking by themself, kind of sad :/ Also, people saying Dan Brown is against religions, or trying to make people to hate them, need seriously to learn to read a book...

Lots of stuffs, though, like the Golden Number are interesting to learn, lol.

I read that for an AP class! It was kinda interesting.

As for books that I've read recently.. uh not much. Last realy book I read was month or two ago, The Riddlemaster trilogy. I think imma reread it soon though, good book imo.
Yeah Nick referred me to that series also, been meaning to get to it..sounds really cool :D

Quoted for massive win. Btw, did you read the other books that he wrote that were supposedly related to the Dark Tower series?

Riddle master trilogy is a great set of books, the first one is a masterpiece. Someone else mentioned the Ender saga by Orson Scott Card <3 Some of my favorite books right there.

When I was a lil younger I devoured the Redwall Books by Brian Jaques. Fun fun times indeed.

    Recently

Pigtopia - Kinda like a Hunchback of Notre Dame type story, its decent, kinda hard to read cause half of the book is written in a way like someone who hasnt be educated, making it a bit hard to follow

Old Man's War - Was based in the future, elderly people when they reached a certain age could opt to goto space and fight/colonize the universe... they got new bodies and after they served their time access to a plot of land in part of the new colonies (part of a series i think...)

before those i was reading some Otherland books by Tad Williams (one of my fav authors) about the future again, and the internet... pretty good reads even some MMORPG aspects

also another good couple books are by Jeff Noon - Pollen, and Vurt... both are pretty good, futuresic books... one's about a drug... the other i dont remember that well, but i do remember i enjoyed both

I'm not reading the rest of the thread cause it's late and it's 5 pages but I liked all of Dan Brown's books... if you liked those you'll probably like The Templar Legacy by Steve Berry.

I was also recommended The Celestine Prophecy and I read about half of it and lost interest... I don't know, just didn't appeal to me that much. I plan on restarting it again and hopefully I will see something I didn't see before.

I have a few other books I'm planning on reading, mostly about the Crusades, Templars, and other religious history based books because The Da Vinci Code really piqued my interest in those topics. I'm not even the slightest bit religious either, go figure lol.

I wasn't impressed with the Celestine Prophecy. The concept was ok...a little cheesy & poorly written though imo

You wouldn't know that though because you've demonstrably never picked up a book nor educated yourself on the matter. Let me guess, overweight housewife?

Dark sword saga, and Star of the guardian were probably my 2 favorite series.

My favorite book series was The Death Gate Cycle. Really unknown but I love it. Could never get into the dragonlance books though I tried.
