What book do you read?

I don't read all that much anymore, but probably the best book I've read recently is Catch-22. I thought it was fantastic.

And some of my favorites from a long while ago: the Redwall series by Brian Jacques. Think a medieval-styled myths and legends type setting, only with the characters as anthropomorphic animals. Great stuff.

Totally agree about Dragonlance and Weis. I love Dragonlance but I believe Dark Sword and The Death Gate Cycle were so much better. <3

Didnt read anything recently, but I loved everything wrote by Margaret Weis. Her most popular series is Dragon Lance, but at the same time, it was probably her worst. It wasnt bad or anything (it was great actually, but too close of your typical DnD books most of the time). I but I would recommand them to anyone who like fantastic/science fiction story.

Dark sword saga, and Star of the guardian were probably my 2 favorite series.

My favorite book series was The Death Gate Cycle. Really unknown but I love it. Could never get into the dragonlance books though I tried.

I absolutely loved death gate cycle too. It was the first non lance dragon I read from Weis, and I couldnt stop reading after a few chapter.
A few years ago, I found out one of my favorite band (Blind Guardian) wrote a song (I'm Alive) about that series too, it's not much, but I thought it was cool.

One thing I liked about other book was Fizban/Zifnab/etc. I'm still not sure wth is that character, but he made me laugh so much, and he is in almost every series under a different but similar name.


Did you read Twin trilogy from dragon lance? Or the one in the not so far future, they were both great imo. Much better than the first trilogy if you coulnnt get into it.

Well I've read some of the stuff "about" the dark tower series, and stuff written by other people that's supposed to go in between here and there or whatever.

But if you just mean all the books that have related to them well... that would be kinda hard because just about any and every book he's written has direct references back and forth to and from the Dark Tower series heh~

I'm not reading the rest of the thread cause it's late and it's 5 pages but I liked all of Dan Brown's books... if you liked those you'll probably like The Templar Legacy by Steve Berry.

I was also recommended The Celestine Prophecy and I read about half of it and lost interest... I don't know, just didn't appeal to me that much. I plan on restarting it again and hopefully I will see something I didn't see before.

I have a few other books I'm planning on reading, mostly about the Crusades, Templars, and other religious history based books because The Da Vinci Code really piqued my interest in those topics. I'm not even the slightest bit religious either, go figure lol.

Lol, same here. I'm fan of mythologies though, got tons of books about them and such. While I don't believe in any religion, it's actually really interesting to learn about them.

Yeah, the Legends trilogy(after chronicles) was really good ^_^. My fav has always been Raistlin though. I think the best series in DL was the Twins, cause It really focused on Caramon and Raistlin... Got to really see inside their character

I haven't tried the twin trilogy. I'm anal about reading books in order so I probably won't be able to bring myself to read it because I'll get annoyed that I don't know the characters history from reading it myself.

I love Zifnab as a character too, and Haplo has to be my favorite character out there. XD

Personally i've read The Da Vinci Code and all the LOTR books, all good. I refuse to read any Harry Potter books.

Currently i'm stuck on Book 7 of The Wheel of Time because it does slow down a lot.

I've also read a lot of James Patterson books, just about all of them are really good except When the Wind Blows (i think that was the title) was a little too weird for me. His book Honeymoon was my favorite.

I've read them all once and didn't care to again. Barely made it through the last.

Hating them after reading them and refusing to read them are two very different things.

Actually i have TRIED to read the first one, i got through about half of it before i thought it sucked. So yes, i refuse to put myself through that shit again. Just because most adults and kids like it doesn't mean that i have to.

I rarely read book in order. I remember reading #3 of Death gate Cycle, than #4, 2 and 1. Same with Star of the Guardian, Lord of the ring, and about every series I read. :D I dont think it matter where you pick a book when it's good, at least, it doesnt for me.

Anyway, Twin trilogy was much better in term of character development and all. It worth reading if you liked Death Gate saga and other stuff Weis wrote. You don't really need the first to read the first trilogyto understand this one.

Wasn't me who posted this quote, but I refuse to read those books for being over mediatised. I would probably enjoy reading the serie just like I enjoy reading 99% of the books I read, but Harry Potter doesn't deserve all the attention it get.

There is a ton of good books out there, and if I want to spend some time reading stuff, I would rather read something that deserve attention more than something that already had too much attention.

The last book I read was "The Book of Fate." It was basically Dan Brown lite, which isn't saying much. The only thing it was lacking really was a symbologist from Harvard. Instead it had a young, damaged presidential staffer. I couldn't put it down when I started reading it but the most interesting parts of the story are the tidbits about presidential life that the author gleaned from his research and interviews for the book with Clinton and George H.W. Bush.
