A few I've enjoyed over the years:
Heinlein's Friday & The Moon is a Harsh Mistress (easily my favorite book).
William Gibson's Neuromancer, All Tomorrow's Parties, & Pattern Recognition.
Anne McCaffrey's Dragonriders of Pern Series & the Talents Trilogy.
Neil Gaiman's American Gods, Neverwhere, & Anansi Boys.
Card's Ender's Game, Ender's Shadow, Shadow of the Hegemon, & finally Shadow of the Giant. Never read any of the further Ender-centric books (Xenocide, Speaker for the Dead, Children of the Mind)..may get to them someday.
Recently started reading some David Weber, notably some of the Honor Harrington books...not bad, all in all.
Harry Potter...I read the first book before the first movie came out...wasn't terribly impressed. I read the third book shortly before the 5th book came out. I worked at a bookstore at the time, and we had a big 'release party' thing with all the staff in costume. I was Prof. Lupin, so wanted to study the character. Really don't think the books are worth the hype.
