The contention was that warrior is the more difficult melee job because they tank.

Spamming Sidewinder at Flys is at best an amusing trick. Making 3 elementally appropriate renkei from other PT members without any prior organisation or even any comunication from the pack of retards that make up the average PT and managing not to get your ass handed to you in the process is a lot more challenging than spamming rampage and making sure you don't forget to crack the next bag of Shihei.

People who XP SAM without using our inherent advantage for gaining free damage from Renkei irritate me. Nearly as much as people who express the following idea:

Why bother to skillchain? We don't have a BLM to magic burst anyway
Because an unresisted (i.e. elementally appropriate) renkei effect is 500+ free damage even for a level 1 renkei effect. Always skillchain. Samurai don't (or shouldn't, if the player isn't an complete retard) need a complex setup to renkei effectively. We always have TP, and a good player should know when the other members of the party will have it and be able to make whatever Renkei they so choose.

It seriously isn't even difficult to track how long it takes for a PT member to get TP.

On HNMs you should have a skillchain and magic burst, or why bother using SAM?

Just like to say this is the single quickest and best derail in the history of man (I'm pretty confident I'm right about what the OP meant.)

I haven't been posting on BG for very long, but in my experience the derails are often more informative than the original subject.

Sure, skill/experience/knowledge can be useful in xp. After 2.5 years you probably (hopefully?) pick up on all the ins and outs, know SCs pretty well, understand how to pull/chain effectively, etc. But let's say you run across a first jobber with gear a lot better than your own.... enough to balance out your extensive knowledge/experience/skill. I don't know about you, but I'd feel pretty guilty if a dude who's been playing for 4 months contributes as much to the party as I do just because I'm too lazy to get half-decent gear.

I let this thread ride out even though I saw this coming.

What I mean to say is, Loyalty is what's kept me in the linkshell I'm in now, even though it's some what in a cockblock right now. No events for the past 3 months, and I haven't done shit (not even merit point) for the past 3 months.

What's a guy to do, Continue playing wow? I want to play FF11 But at the same time I can't be a selfish cold hearted prick and think of myself.

But, This is where friends come in.

Sounds like you're in a social LS dreaming of being something more. Just join a real HNM, and keep your pearl to your social to hang out with friends. EZ. Next caller, pls.

You shouldn't talk about things you don't know about. Zigma's LS has done alot of endgame stuff on bahamut and was even first to beat certain things (Ouryu and Bahav2). I havnt seen any of them around recently but your 'guess' is way off.

Yep. Also up to a certain point gear means alot. In Merit/EXP PTs you will notice it the most but on HNM its hard to tell the difference between (For Example) Enmity+2 vs Enmity+5. Does the increase help? Yes but its very hard to notice, even over a long period of time.

Skill does not go as far as you would like to think it does in this game. Gear is very important to performance in FFXI.

If it isn't then why do people sit in BD/VoS/DA for three hours everyday?
take 2 pld's and put them on JOL one has say 40 enmity(hades+1 in this example) and the other pld(i.e. me) with no hades+1. The other tank will almost certainly hold hate the entire fight unless he is being good about it and trying to ween off some hate to you by being slow on JA's etc

ive seen this example many times with a pld in my LS that doesnt know how to balance hate well with his coPLD.

Not only does it hurt him by getting hit ALL the time but it hurts our support by having to focus alot more on him and jacking their enmity by dropping curebomb after curebomb instead of alternating cures between 2 PLD's. when your enmity is of between your two tanks by anything by 3 and the tank with the most enmity is constantly trying his absolute hardest to keep hate he will be able to hold hate over the tank with less enmity. Especially if you are over all both good PLD's with almost the exact same gear.

Chances are that, TTF has done more or the same amount things than the LS you're in.

hohoho the memories. I remember the epic days where I used to do that and bgwow wanted a slice of the cake, so they bring like 14 hungry people to out pull the 3 of us (nevermind the fact that it was just 2, as I overslept that day). I wake up to my 2 friends (Ypsilon and Harid) outpulling bgwow and are having a hard time controlling it since there was no whm OH BURN! I get there and kill it. I would sell my left nut to see their real life facial expression when they see me turning the corner popping defender on my whm/war

next day those faggots bring an alliance of 18+ and we're loling.

Quicklet, you're one of the many smart people I know on this BBS, come back to FF11, bring Iduna and we'll go camping.

Camping things for over a year sucked away my soul, but I was going through my oldest posts the other day and some of the things I found were hilarious, such as this gem:

eh... there is nothing you can camp any more anyways or else i would still be doing it, believe me.

it just isn't the same going to camp LoO or cassie when there is 2+ full alliances of professional gilsellers there....LoO used to be up for hours at a time if you popped it and couldn't find ppl to come kill it

now its just lame+1.. SE needs to kill the gilsellers and ban more hackers! dynamis is the only thing left u can do in this game that is unmolested by the fkin gilsellers..
