Was fucking brilliant, everyone go watch it now even if you have seen the original HK version "Infernal Affairs," it was still fucking great and definately worth it

With their cast, they really couldn't have fucked it up...
You mean Infernal Affairs? It is really based on those movies? Cause they owned...
lol yeah made a typo ill change itOriginally Posted by Elcura
I want to see this because it has Nicholson in it.
does it end the same way as internal affairs
My theatre's movie got fucked @ where the guy has the other guy by the throat(trying not to spoil it, if you've seen it you will know where that is) and then the people working at the theatre were morons and we basically missed the ending or saw it without sound/in 10s intervals missing 1-2s. On the bright side I got a free movie pass for missing the last 3 minutes.
Fucking awesome movie. See it.
Yeah some movies say like allstar cast and whatnot, that cast is a fucking dream team. Movie could've been 2 hours of Jack Nicholsan trying to return eggs in a diner and it would've been good. With their cast, they really couldn't have fucked it up...
Will this finally get Quentin Tarantino his oscar as a director? We'll find out!
watched it
while it's a great action thriller, it's lost all the philosophy aspect which the HK original was based on, so personally i prefer the original
Yeah, he'd totally get it IF HE DIRECTED IT. Martin Scorsese you dumbass.Originally Posted by Akiyama

I really should have updated the movies thread, it's probably on page 3 or 4 by now. Anyway, yes The Departed was any of a bunch of superlatives you can throw at it. Great movie, great cast, great characterization, great directing, but the kicker for me was how they nailed the Boston tradition of busting people's balls... whether they're your best friend, colleague, or someone you just met. I'm not from Boston myself but two of my friends are and they are always doing that shit. The best lines IMO all came from Alec Baldwin & Mark Wahlberg. The weakest part IMO was the psychologist, maybe because she was the only female character that got any significant screen time and wasn't really given much to work with other than being a backdrop for Damon/DiCaprio's stories.
the psychologist was pretty weak in infernal affairs too. other than being pretty to look at (kelly chan) she really didn't have a hell of a lot to do.The weakest part IMO was the psychologist, maybe because she was the only female character that got any significant screen time and wasn't really given much to work with other than being a backdrop for Damon/DiCaprio's stories.
I can't wait to see this myself.
Sucks that action movies never win Oscar's. Some movie will probably come out sometime before next year's Oscars with gay people or a woman defying the laws of society and win it anyway. Happens every year.
Managed to catch the movie today and I must say it's a great movie. Although it got too draggy in the middle thus causing the 2.5hrs movie length. Anyway, it followed the main plot of internal affairs closely up to the end which it took the China's Ending of internal affairs and didn't took the original HK ending which is a waste imo.
There's probably a good 2 or 3 scenes where it's just Alec Baldwin owning shit. It's like he doesn't even know or care what the purpose of the scene is, or how it falls into the overarching storyline, he's just there, winning.
Great movie - I missed the first 10 minutes or so (fucking friday night hollywood traffic...took 45 mins to drive about 2 miles to Graumann's) so I absolutely hated Matt Damon's character, which probably is because I missed his entire setup.
