i don't think so. he died and he's going to be remembered as a good cop, would've been better if he was exposed whether he died or not.

he could've been exposed and still be killed of. the biggest thing for me compared to the original series is that i never feel bad for Damon in this one, in the original you feel like he genuinely tries to get out of the situation. Damon just ends up in a loop of covering his own ass.

Anyone notice the rat on the balcony at the end of the movie? None of my friends noticed it, but I did.

lol yes, they do a close up of it. Tell your friends to wake the fuck up.

I normally HATE Walhberg and at the beging I was almost ready to walk out because of his acting. Then I started accepting it. The ending redeemed himself and his role in the movie.
That is pretty gay dude. He was fine in it, he is a fine actor.

Yeah I agree too. But in the movie, i'm surpirse that they didn't emphasize the point of leo's char wanting to be back on the good side (and not only wanting to get back his id) and the matt's char wanting to stay away from the mafia side. Not forgetting the famous line "I am a Cop"

I don't see how that's homosexual that I don't like Walhberg in movies...
Like lolFear, lolItalian Job? As Rob Courdry would say, "I mean, COME ON."

What I didn't like was how annoying he was, remember the begining when you first see him the only thing he does is swear, and you think "man this guy's got it out for everyone, what's his deal?" Remember that? it was towards the begining when the only thing he did was swear and you though "What's this guys deal, he's got it out for Damon AND DiCaprio?" It was towards the beging.
But then when you understood that was his character, not just his outward character but the backdrop behind his role as the tough-guy cop.

Chose to disagree, but in no way is it "gay." That's pretty poor discussion point.

    And...

Damon does get HIS comeuppance. Does he know that he's going to be remember as a good cop when he's dead? Does he know his record and the integrity of the police department could be in shambles post mortem? No he's dead, dead dead, deadity dead.

    Damon's head + Bullet = Comeuppance.

you have your opinion and i have mine. a lot of people commit suicide before they get caught just so they don't have to go through the whole process.

Comeuppance = what he deserves. a quick bullet to the head is too easy, he deserved more IMO.

Jeez, "gay" was just the term I used, guess you're gonna be one of those who flip out and take it for its real meaning, so annoying, anyway.
I thought Italian Job was good, one of my favorite movies.
And he also produces Entourage which is genious.
His character never really bothered me, it was just who his character was, it was pretty amusing honestly.

I'm confused by what you're saying here. You were pissed at his acting, but on the other hand, you say his character annoys you/ pisses you off etc. If his character was riling you up, then from an acting standpoint, he's doing a fantastic job because that's exactly what he's meant to do. Not every character in movies is meant to be liked, not even the "good" ones. I think you acknowledge this because later in your post where you say how you came to understand that was his character as it was meant to be, but I'm confused then how you can slight his acting if you acknowledge that and concede that he worked you up over what he said/did. /confused

Anyways I do agree, fantastic movie, and for anyone who wants, there are some fantastic bootlegs going around atm that aren't horribly hard to find if you want your "dvd" early ^.-

i would've liked the ending better if he got away with it too.

in the original version, you're definitely supposed to like both characters and root for them both.

um, the guy in the original did not die but it wasn't meant as "getting away with it"

the title of the original movie is the name of buddhism's lowest hell, and if you know buddhism you know that they believe life itself is suffering and testiment for where you'd go after you die, in the original everyone but damon's character dies but that really means they are all relieved from pain, but damon's character will continue to suffer in this hell

1 of my favorite scenes was the scene where Costello was kind of interrogating Costigan about who the rat is. Superb acting from both in that scene, had me going "oh shit oh shit oh shit" then nothing happened, lol.

"You accuse me once, I put up with it. You accuse me twice... I quit. You pressure me to fear for my life, and I will put a fucking bullet in your head just like you were anyone else"

Its fun to see both movies The Departed and Infernal Affairs. IMO I thought IA will a bit better, due to the little things, i liked the fact that he only had one handler, on the police inside. (so if that handler, say fell off a building, no one would know he was a cop). I also liked, the little bit about the music stereo and cord deal, helped the ending connect, insted of just a recording of his voice. Also the moris code part was huge, in IA. The departed prob had better acting, but i thought the orginal HK story was a bit better imo. Just my 2 cents.

What years did the original movies come out? I've never heard of them until now and I think I'll take a look at them.
