Since its too late to go back in time to prevent NINs complete dominance over spells, a nerf would have to be small.
How about instead, make NINs specialize in nullifying magical damage (hey, they're supposed to be all mystical and know all sorts of fancy ninjutsu right?). Let PLDs specialize in nullifying physical damage. Afterall, their 2hour is somewhat representative of their role, and prevents physical damage, not magic damage, right?
PLD can buff up DEF and VIT to obscene levels, but can't do a thing for magic, short of +resist and -magic dmg% builds, which anyone can do.
Make Utsusemi absorb all magic, including AoEs, with just 1 shadow. Make single target physical TP moves go through shadows. Melee hits should take 2 shadows (and hit, if only 1 remains).
Sounds awesome right? No? Maybe its because this idea is just as stupid as the other way around.
