    KS99 Behemoth - Straight Tanked?

    I looked everywhere for a post like this and couldn't find anything so try not to flame. ;_; I can't find it but someone on the KI forums mentioned briefly that her linkshell had done 15 orbs in one night because each straight tanked fight had only taken 3 to 5 minutes each. She didn't say anything about the setup or strategy but I would assume it would be something along the lines of this:

    Party 1 - WAR x3, BRD x2, WHM - Lightning carol, march, minuet x2.
    Party 2 - MNK/NIN x3, BRD x2, WHM - Lightning carol, march, minuet x2.
    Party 3 - RDM, WHM. Random melee. Possibly a BLM to nuke the last few %s at the end of the fight?

    This setup is based on the people in my linkshell that I know will attend. All 3 WARs and all 3 MNKs have haidate which is +50 resist vs. thunder. That should help mp at least a little bit. One of the WARs is a ridill WAR which might speed things up some? Also I don't know which would be better to go with: Minuet x2 or March x2. I do know that we -are- going to be trying this soon but it would be very nice to get some feedback from you guys.

    Thoughts, comments, experiences, ideas?

    From my LS's attempt, and we didn't have nearly as good of a setup as yours, minuetx2 actually had more interrupts than marchx2. We went 3/4 on a melee-burn KS99 Behemoth, 2nd fight we just had no interrupts and kept getting spammed with Meteor(we did 2x minuet 1-3-4, 1minuet/march in 2). Eventually too many died to be able to kite and recover quickly so we ran out of time with him back down to 20% or something

    ya except we did 7 sucessful runs out of 7 straight up tanking it. you can stun his meteor. GAME OVER YOU ARE DUMB

    That set-up should work, the only thing I'd do is put a RDM maybe instead of that 2nd BRD. Have your melee compensate with attack food if they want March, but 2-3 Meteor and you might run into MP issues with that set-up.

    Also, Pretty sure WS (or at least Gekko) can interrupt Meteor pretty consistently, kinda like Faith and Kirin, but having all your RDM spamming Para during Meteor gives really good results too.

    Other than that, keep Dia 2 (3 if you don't mind the extra MP cost) on and even a RNG that lands acid occasionally helps damage a lot.

    We haven't done it with all melee, a mix of melee/SATA SC'ers and conventional tanks. Works ok, but the BLMs end up pulling way too much hate (2k Blizzaga 3's etc.) and move the mob which blows. :/

    I'd bring more cure support than that. Between the meteors and Chlevnik stunning and then beating the shit out of zerked warriors, you might find yourself low on MP pretty quickly.

    War war war brd whm or something similar. Most meteor are interupted with 7-8 melee, but under that, too many might go through. Still killable with 4-5melee in less than 5min, but it can be a pain

    Our fastest kill was 2 minutes from the moment we engaged (like 4min30). Could probably be faster with 2hours and 9war/nin (I give him 30sec)

    Blm shouldnt outdamage your war and mnk.

    BLM that get outdamaged by any melee on a KB-type mob are gimp.

    And melee can't outdamage BLM on kirin. We all know the story... Behemoth mobs have no def, and no evasion. You can do similar dmg than the one you would do in xp party.

    From my linkshell's experience, the most reliable way to interupt his meteor is with samurai using tachi:gekko. He can be interupted with straight melee damage if you have a very strong group of 8+ total war's and mnk's with 2x minuet on, but for some reason it seems that 1x hit weapon skills interupt him more than multihit ones. On warrior i've done 1500+ rampages to him that interupt him less than 50% of the time.

    Yeah, we typically have a couple blu/thf's. Works fairly well, a few still might get through. We dont waste time kiting it anymore, mnk's, war's, etc just tear it apart, and with the blu's stunning its pretty smooth. I have come PLD the last couple times just as a safety measure in case we do need to start kiting. But seems like most of the time I am just sitting there watching

    I always thought the "Final Meteor", as ya'll call it, was actually Mijin Gakure? Chev falls down like he Gakure'd.

    Melee burn is pretty easy and really not as dangerous as you think. You think Metoer is omgwtfdamage just cause you watch BLMs and other mages get oneshotted by it. With melee everyone has way for HP. Melee burn is fun and quick, just need really good melee DD.

    just have anyone who can flash stand just outside the thunderspark range, run in to toss a flash after thunderspark to save tanks the a big hassle. if youre a pld on "just in case" duty then this is a great job for you lol.

    edit: now that i think about it, rdm/pld wouldnt be to bad for this seeing how all they do in this bc if its not kited is haste, refresh and backup cure. so tossing a flash every now and again wont hurt and omgz autorefresh!

    It works, but with 7-8 melee, you won't have to worry too much about that. Just make sure melee use their WS during meteor.


    Meteor with shell and a bunch of melee hit for about 600dmg. It's really not that bad even if it goes through. His stun move is usually way more deadly than meteor itself. Stun --> triple attack can kill you a tank .

    Ditto, it just happens, and is full strength (I.E. the damage it would normally do if only one person got hit, on everyone) so you can't survive it if you're in range. RR or a BLM taking it far away and finishing it ftw..
    You don't have to finish it, it's dead when it uses that insta cast meteor. You can survive if you resist the spell, but it never happen or almost never (I survived it once with a 1000dmg meteor instead of 1800 in maybe 30 attempt).


    To avoid a "wipe" to meteor, you usually have everyone but 3 melee stay for the last 5%. Can't really do better with melee runs
