OP mentions thunder resist....I thought meteor was only affected by shell, not any barspells or resist gear.

Thunderbolt (Aoe Stun) is Thunder based. However; resist setups are so wonky, everyone should know this by now; you have to have insane tier setups to work effectively. This would also not stop shadows from being wiped, even if the Stun is resisted somehow, and it'd be unlikely all mages etc could/would bother to completely negate such damage to make worrying about Thunderbolt anything worth worrying about.
I dunno, we manamarason with fights lasting about 8-10 minutes, at most 15 if things get a bit off; we did a run a couple months ago, where we did ten orbs for our event night rather than try and compete in sky etc.
Also, that last Meteor is a pretty fast cast isn't it? Can you actually stop that in time with whichever Stun, be it Stun, Head Butt, various WS? I dunno, we just all scatter/use reraise as part of our runs.
Yea I was always under the impression that the final meteor was instant cast. Doesn't even show in the log, iirc.
Ditto, it just happens, and is full strength (I.E. the damage it would normally do if only one person got hit, on everyone) so you can't survive it if you're in range. RR or a BLM taking it far away and finishing it ftw.Originally Posted by inafume
Yes, I know it is thunder-based. I asked "Isn't METEOR unaffected by resist gear and barspells?" Wearing resist gear to counter stun would be retarded.Originally Posted by Ashira
IMO I think in this particular BC a manaburn is the way to go, at least if you're going for consistant fast-paced kills. This was one of the fastest without really going insane with 18 slots of BLMs:

We used to do 15-25 orbs a night once every 4-5 months or so (back when like no one did KS99s), so being able to do the BC fast was important. I think we've done around 80-90 runs or so total by now.
Too bad it's not really worth the drops anymore.
Yah, but I don't think the OP was talking about Barthunder for Meteor, but for the other moves. Which is more of what I was going off of, since you'd referenced the OP. /shrug
Dunno about your ls, but mine has 6-7blm at most. Melee burning this bc is a lot easier than manaburning since you can bring almost anythingOriginally Posted by RKenshin
In previous FFs, Meteor varied from being non-elemental magic damage and dark/fire elemental damage, i'm pretty sure it's non-elemental magic in FFXI, i've seen minor damage changes with Shell/distance/number of gilsellers to absorb damage but never a big difference like a resist would be.
If mages are getting one-shot'd by it, then need better MND macros for Stoneskin.![]()
Don't know how it happened, and it was the first time I ever saw it, but a PLD on one of our runs on Sunday resisted the final meteor and survived.Originally Posted by Elondir
I also thought after posting, that BC topography is really wierd, i've dodged meteors while right next to Chev because i've been on a piece of ground at a slightly different height.Originally Posted by inafume
Do you mean it missed him totally, or resisted to like 50% damage?
so.. i'm no expert, but i always thought people kited it because it was hard/impossible to stun meteor?
Anything can be tanked straight up, question is do you really want to. Stun will get resisted. Manaburn is the quickiest for this fight. If you wanna risk TP burning this KS99, by all means give it a shot.

With the spell Stun, staple spell stopper. Large melee damage and Stun WSes will still interupt casting, although it's a bit random if you rely on the damage route.Originally Posted by Matricide

Ptown was the PLD I mentioned. Like he said, he did get hit by it, it just didn't hit for 100%.
Lightning carol seems like a waste of a song to me. Could toss a smn in each pt and healing ruby II after meteors that hit I suppose..
echo this, melee-burn on this is risky (at least more risky than blm) and manaburn really requires no skill. 5 minute fights each, you'll be done quickly. I really wouldn't be willing to put up 99 KSs if there were even a 20% chance of losing. BLM = safe and effective, no reason to change itOriginally Posted by RKenshin
Edit: What the fuck, why is this posted before posts 2 hours before mine?
