@BRP Thats all they can do now apparently look at G4 now their showing "Arrested Development" and it's a cancel'd/series over show..
Arrested Development was an amazing show and it's sad that FOX took it off the air.

"What can I say Michael? I blue myself!" Say it outloud

And yes Pee-Wee is starting to get annoying.

    Mekaleka-hi meka-himy-God, I hate you so much.

I think I was really pissed because labeling the shows as jut things that Fox canceled is, for some shows at least, ignoring (or justifying) the really shitty treatment a lot of them got and the special interest that tend to be involved.
The fact that Fox News seems decidedly right isn't a coincidence and the only reason they allowed Family Guy back was because of the ungodly DVD sales and [as] ratings.
Did you know Futurama was pre-empted by spots so many times that after they had stopped production, they still had a seasons worth of shows?
That's what contributed to the death of the show.
I'd wait every night for Futurama and would see baseball, which I would invariable turn away from, so I stopped trying as often and it lead to the show being canceled while it was far and away better than The Simpsons were at the time.
The reason that people watch the show is because it's STILL better than the newer episodes of The Simpsons, it wasn't forced to marginalize their content or severely damage their characters.
Why does Apu have to cheat on his wife, whom he had 8 children with, TWICE?
I still remember that big valentines day episode they did with them, it's like ruining him just to squeeze out another story.

A lot of the shows Fox has shit canned would have done better if they were simply retooled slightly or given the attention they deserved.
That is not to suggest, however, that Fox is alone in this or that they have not come out with a generous amount of puss-filled crap over the years (they practically gave Geraldo his career, there is a special level of hell for that.)

Gundam Wing was their first gundam anime ever shown so technically you would say it's 'good' but when you watch it again its just a plain werid fucking story line. And as for SEED/Destiny they was done 'ok' but they still cant beat the original(SEED) and Zeta(Destiny) and for the new OVA of SEED Mobile Suit Gundam SEED C.E. 73: Stargazer is done pretty well for an OVA. Trez was a good character as well but he didn't seem much of a 'villan' as Char did in the original, too many white masked characters,Tomino did a perfect job developing him but he didn't do so well for Trez in Gundam Wing.
That's what made Treize so cool, he didn't try to be a cartoony antagonist.
He worked towards and for his goals and people who got in his way were pawns in the game of life.
He didn't do it in megalomaniacal, gimme gimme gimme way, he had a vision and everything was a means to an end.
Even after he died, it was like he was orchestrating the entire thing.
..and his name is fun to say.

Why is it that people who can't argue against me always attack my personality or character?
    Hmmm....
I guess you're right but I would still love to see Char vs Treize in a fully animated short or an SD version like from the SD games for PS1/PS2.

I never insulted the quality of Family Guy or Futurama. I said that shows that were on and canceled by Fox, appeared on Adult Swim, and attracted a bunch of frat-boys-isque to the viewership which would drive Adult Swim to sell out later on.

That seems rather illogical & a bit moot to me.
Suggesting that these shows, which are good programs, attract a decidedly base element and that their very existence brings added consumerism.
They could have done the same with all the anime shows they had.
A smaller scale, yes, but it wouldn't have been less blatant.

Not really illogical or moot in my opinion. (Pardon me while I use a rock band as an analogy.) It's just like Metallica. They were somewhat "niche" in that they had a small(er) fanbase, and catered to them with fairly hardcore metal. Then they slowly turned from their core fans after getting a taste of real fame and fortune (about the time the "One" video hit MTV), and viola... the infamous Black album and every steaming pile of crap they've churned out since then has targeted record sales instead of what the original Metallica sound and attitude encompassed.

The same could be said for Adult Swim. They started off appealing to niche viewers with eccentric programming that was smart and edgy (mostly.) Time has passed, they've begun to distance themselves from what made them in the first place, using revenue as the gauge for what programs should be aired. This in turn has most definitely brought in a wider audience (including BRP's frat boys and the like), and just like Metallica at their turning point to selling-out, it's bordering on being at the expense of the same people who enabled them to be where they are.

It's just the typical corporate maneuvers in the end. I can't say I blame them, after all they're there to make money. However, sell-outs usually consume themselves, as the originality fades and the mechanics of mainstream material replaces it, which gets old fast, and people wander off in search of something fresh and new.

I see that as an immature over simplification and mindless demonizing for the sake of being contrary.
Like people who say FFVII/X/WoW/MGS/Mario/etc. is sub standard, just because it's popular.
The Metallica analogy would only apply if they STOPPED making good shows (or if I even began to give a damn about the shitty ones.)
ATHF, Venture, Family Guy, and Futurama are still on and they repeat the good anime occasionally.
Stop trying to be special for decrying something that at least still produces (what you even recognize to be) quality material.
If you want a real example of a cartoon block selling out, compare Fox Kids to 10 years ago, and weep (Kids WB always kinda sucked).

To be completely honest, the only thing the success of [as] has really done is allowed them to create shows the staff wants.
All the crap that was spawned after it got successful was obviously in the vein of ATHF, SGC2C, & Sealab.
TgttM, 12ozM, & SB are the shows you seem to despise, and you only have the creators of the shows you adore to blame.
Realistically, the deluge of Anime seem like the real attempt to pander to a demographic.
Even the most jaded, JP humping, ‘I import all my DVDs’ Anime fan will at least watch the first episode of a newly dubbed anime (if only to bitch about it), it’s probably the most reliable segment of their viewer base.
“Hey little freaks, here’s another surrealistic, seizure- inducing, highly dramatized cartoon from that banana island that may or may not fit the genre of ‘Action’, but we know you’ll watch it anyway, so here ya go!”
Blame the ignorant, superficial anime fans who just want flashy, drawn out fights with angsty teenagers whose inner-monologues are, in length, disproportionate to their apparent brain power, for letting good shows like Conan get shut down in the first season (to my amazement, the show is still running in Japan ._.) and only allows FLCL to be played only twice through a year, just so they can get their latest fix of ‘Screaming Moron Twins’ (or a variation thereof.)
I’m honestly more pissed off at the many crap Anime shows we’ve been forced to wait through than the relatively few original comedy shows they’ve had on [as].
Lupin, Milk Chan, Paranoia Agent, Eureka 7, the second season of Big O, most of Kikaider, PIOLET FUCKING CANDIDATE (I think that was back in the Midnight run days, but anyway), and Witch Hunter Robin.
The worst part is, as long as it proves to be worth it even in the slightest, they’ll keep dumping Anime down our throats for ratings, just as every other channel has been doing since Pokémon got popular.
At least the crappy comedy shows are original (for the most part), are obviously for the purpose of expressing their vision (however odd it may be), and don’t have issues of mistranslation, incomprehensible pop-culture references (or blatantly Americanized lines), and Screeching Anime Love Songs.
The only Comedy show I really dislike is TG, and I don’t hate it anywhere near as strongly as most people seem to.

My point is, that your idea that
    A) [as] has lost all of their merit as a decent collection of shows
and B) that the comedy shows are somehow conceived to be any more of a marketing tool than any other Television show anywhere, ever
Is Asinine, or at least, if either is true, it is not necessarily the fault of the shows or those that created them.
In my opinion, those who buy the rights to the Anime without really considering their viewer base or the genre they are supposed to be going for, are more guilty of this than the ones who came up with stuff like TGttM.

I enjoyed Eureka SeveN in it's original Japanese format when I finished it a couple months ago. The general audience of [as] are mostly people who want to see mass blood/violence/cursing to prove it's supposed to be on [as]. That pisses me off. Shows like Eureka SeveN.. possibly other shows that make you think just aggrivate 70% of the dimwits that few the network. -Shrugs-

I was sick of ATHF, Sealab, hell.. I'm sick of Family Guy, Futurama and all those shows they have continued to ram down our throats. No matter what happens with anime in the states, people will ALWAYS bitch about.. "The original in Japanese was sooo much better" and.. "God, they should have given us that one other show that's almost about the same thing with different characters." -.- It gets old really fast. Yes, most of us generally enjoyed the originals, but why come to a forum or whatever and bitch about it all day? lol, what's that really help? I actually liked Cowboy Bebop dubbed more than subbed. That's one of the only ones though. Still, I don't whine and complain. x.x anyway.. I'll end my rant now. Sorry about that guys. Just had some wrong buttons pushed.

*Edit* On the note about Bleach's VA.. the argument about how bad Rukia and Chad suck on the [as] forums have gone on and on and we're only on episode what.. 5? It's no headsplitting like One Piece, so I can deal with it. Oh and Pokemon Chronicles.. now THAT is something I can agree with people bitching about.

No, it was definitely cancelled. Don't know the exact story but I think they were originally going to be cancelled after the first season, then they won an Emmy for it, then they were brought back but just didn't have the ratings, so they got pulled for good. Could be totally wrong but I do remember how they were getting lots of good criticism even though they had poor ratings.

Cowboy Bebop with English voice acting is better than the Japanese in my opinion.

    There I said it.

    Beau Billingslea
    Steven Jay Blum

Are probably two of the best if not most popular voice actors/narrators right now.

Wow, defensive much? Let me clarify since it went right over your head. I'm stating the AS is headed in the same direction Metallica went, not that they're there now. They're catering to a wider audience in an attempt to get more cash, and if they continue to do so they'll eventually fade away as what made them unique will be lost.

I have no idea where you got your 'B' bullet point, because I never stated anything about any of Adult Swim's comedy shows. Where did you come up with that one? If you're going for a rebuttal at least make points that aren't pulled out of thin air.

No one, i repeat NO ONE, is more guilty, or more deserving of a pure ass wooping then the creators of TGttM.

Plain a simple facts that are upsetting long time viewers:

Popular well recieved shows are no longer shown.
No attempt to find more of these shows or bring back old ones is happening.
The "original" crap they air now seems more like a "fuck the viewer, we can play what we want", instead of well thought out schedulingt.
And yes, some of the good anime isnt there, and no attempt is seen to get it (and no im not a JP humping anime freak, but some of it is good and AS WAS a decent place to see some new stuff).

AS just needs to drop the programming that is BLATENTLY SHIT, and remember that fans wont just stand for being forcefed rediculous crap (TGttM, Saved by the bell >.>, PEE WEE FUCKING HERMAN, SquidBillies, and the rest of the shows that take no talent, writing, or direction to make).

Detective Conan is on like its 10th or 15th season in Japan. It's either the longest running anime ever or second longest after Doraemon or something. Yes, Cowboy Bebop was a good dub, and yes there are a few other decent dubs.

The Metallica analogy makes sense, but in a sort of weird way, the frat boy bandwagon jumpers matter as much as the "hardcore" fans, and therefore the bigger mistake Metallica/AS make is trying to milk money from the mass audiences without trying to keep up with their changing tastes.

Metallica hasn't faded away, and what made them unique is not lost. They are trying to cater towards aging fans and fans changing tastes in music. The 80's are gone, if they continue to do what they did in the 80's they will probably lose their contracts and alot of money. The new stuff they put out is good even though its not the same as the old stuff, why? because it still has the old, original feel to it that they have always had. It still has the same talent and effort put into each thing they do, except now they are respecting themselves and their fans more by giving up addictions (which in all honesty is what makes alot of bands good, drugs = good music). Adult Swim wants money, hard to believe huh? Why would anyone want money and high ratings, makes no sense to me either.

Obviously they have a reason for lining up the shows the way they are, because repeats of family guy and futurama only work for so long. Turns out that not everyone wants to see those episodes when they have them on dvd, or have seen them a minimum of 7times each. Those people might be turning on AS for something different now, like Tom goes (which i turn off the tv for) and other things. Personally i love 12 oz. mouse, and am sick and tired of Futurama. I saw it when fox played it, and when AS played it, then i saw it when AS played it 30 more times. I have every Family guy DvD set, and i love the show and reciting lines is fun, but I turn on AS to see things other than Family guy now as well.

Inuyasha's last new ep's start i think next month, then they will repeate every single episode from the start again. ATHF has its first new episodes starting this month, the first new episodes in what, 1, 2 years maybe? We are right now in the last season ever of Birdman, when they will be repeated.... they need to put on new shows, the shows they have on only bring in ratings for so long. The new shows they are putting on, i.e robot chicken and others, are bringing in very high ratings. So of course they are gonna try more new shows... Frisky Dingo looks ok.

Personally i dont care if they put on a burger king commercial, an ipod commercial, a movie or a Chrome Children commercial... that CD is really good, let them fucking advertise it. Call them sell outs, but you are being hypocritical... You can't tell me if you were running AS you wouldn't bring in ad's for money? I sure as hell would... The old fans are still getting what they want, new fans are getting what they want, and new shows provide an oppertunity for future fans... Let them fucking advertise, because a commercial is just a fucking commercial, and when its over i'm still happy because i'm still watching my favorite shows and new ones provide possible new favorites.

I like peewee btw, but i can only handle him one time through, i cant stand repeats. Same with Saved by the bell... i think Squidbillies is funny, and sometimes shows with no direction, plot, or skilled writers can be fun to watch... FMA and shows with great stories and plots own, but it's nice to laugh a little bit at something that makes no sense in between the drama filled amazingly large talent driven shows.

Let's state a few obvious things

1- Show are always better in their original language. Comparing dubbed anime to show that are made in english isn't fair. You should watch family guy and futuruma in other language...it sucks just as much as a anime with shitty dub. Subtitle are better, but still

2- Most anime are linear. Most american cartoon are comedy without any kind of continuity. None of the channel here are able to give us any sort of continuity with rerun ever 5 episodes.
