From the way you stated your Metalica reference, it seemed like you were suggesting [as] had already gotten there and there seems to be no indication of you thinking otherwise.

The only programming block that I think is declining in quality is the Sat line-up.
I haven't watched it regularly since FMA ended in April (or May. :x)
TG sucks and I admit Squid and 12oz aren't up to par, but you can't use them to say that the block is dramatically lowering in quality.

Canceled Comedy Show A is bought and placed in the programming block.
It may or may not attract new viewer base B.
Success of programming block after Canceled Comedy Show A brings in revenue to produce Original Comedy Show C.
C is unliked, thus it is automatically a superficial attempt at ratings lacking in anything resembling creative thought, and anything that created the money to produce it (A and/or B) is equally meaningless or unimaginative by association.
I believe that to be Correlation implies Causation, a logical fallacy.
It stems from the fact you believe the anime is somehow immune to this sort of thing, and it ain't.
The money that goes into making new shows comes from the same place that licenses the Anime, renews contracts for the shows you do like, and keeps the block as a whole from going under.

The reason I believe bad Comedy shows are better than Bad Anime is because bad comedy shows are rarely an assault on my senses (Except for Friends, Wings, Will & Grace...practically every SitCom since the beginning of the 90's, but lower forms of comedy don’t count) and they rarely, if ever take themselves seriously.
Especially the shows on [as], which recognize their Absurdist style and play into it as much as humanly possible. That is why ATHF & FLCL are awesome incarnate.
What was the last really good Romantic Comedy you saw?
I can honestly say that I wasn't into my teens the last time they made a good one.
It has to be balanced with depth and likeability, two things very few leads have in that genre, in any medium.
That's why Comedic Anime tends to fail in this genre since they don't balance it out with enough character development or immersive action (e.g. Inuyasha started sucking when I realized they were going to be like that Forever.)

LD... not everyone likes every show... some people Only watch AS for Family guy, others only for Full Metal, and others for the 15 minute pointless fillers (TGTTM 12oz mouse and ATHF). AS has realized this, so that is why they have a little bit of everything now. Sure, Family Guy and futurama get the highest ratings, but that is also because of the time slots they occupy. They give everyone a reason to watch.

It's true that anime is more often linear while American animation is more often completely episodic. There are a few good examples of mostly episodic anime like Detective Conan and most of Jigoku Shoujo, but even they introduce continuity sometimes. And there are things like Rumic Theater that don't even keep the same characters between episodes, but those are pretty rare. I think it's because in the west, animation was originally seen as best suited for comedy, so for the most part it stayed that way, while every other genre was done in live action.

And yes, we really do need more Korgoth.

I never really liked him to begin with... But only because of his name... Jim Kramer just tells the most obvious things about the street to the public, and he's on right in the middle of things that are important to brokers and traders. Having to listen to him yelling (for no reason) everyday drove me nuts. Sometimes i wanted to leave the firm and walk down to where the show is shot and yell right back at him... but with all the security and identification needed, it probably would have taken an hour to get there, and the frustration would have mostly dicipated.

No, their lyrics were a "promise"from them to their old fans that they would go "back to the basics" and instead they make obscure referances to a couple of old decent songs. Cliff Burton was the driving influence(aside from the obvious) behind the band until his unfortunate death. It's not just a coincidence that after Master of Puppets everything they have written was drastically different. Don't try to make them sound like some sort of fucking dramatic "documentary" about themselves. The fact is, Lars is a pretentious drummer who thinks he is better than everyone and the truth is he is not very good, not to mention his kit sounds like trash cans. James has always been a pretty shitty guitarist and while his vocals used to be pretty decent, he just can't do it anymore because of his age. I'll admit Kirk is a pretty damn good guitarist but the last several albums his performanace has been less than stellar.

But are you trying to say that was the focal point in which everything went downhill? 20 years ago? Considering their biggest albums game AFTER he died, After Master Of Puppets, i really have to disagree. Sure their music is different, but thats because of the majority of the work on the early albums were from Lars, Hetfield, and Burton all together, and after he died it was just Lars and Hetfield really. Hammet only helped write a number of songs on each disc, where burton was a major influence on every single song.

Looks like you just have a grudge against lars or something, which has absolutely nothing to do with what i first said. They make references to old songs, they have the same people working on them, and their 'newest' stuff really is from St Anger in 03 (which is where the references to old and unreleased songs were made) Giving them the old origonal feel they have always had... since their new stuff is basically old stuff they just never got around to because of alcohol and other problems. If you are gonna L O L at what i said, at least disprove my point - dont just state the obvious, complain about them being older then they used to, and acting like just another lars hater.
