Wii Reservations Start 10/13

my store was allocated 12, Sold out in 5min an 23 seconds.

All 3 EBGamestops around the area I went were sold out either 1.5 hours before opening @ 10am, or close to it. Seems the busiest and biggest mall around the greater Chicagoland area is getting allocated shit for units, I showed up #13 in line to my fav EB which gets 12 units (double the PS3 6 it's getting).

WTF. Aren't they making a shitton of Wiis? Now I'm stuck with a bunch of games preodered and no system. Gonna have to camp Best Buy :/

The EBGames in my area opened at 10 this morning, I ended up staying up real late lastnight helping a friend in Eldieme... so I didn't get there til after first class (1 P.M.) they had 3 left and 2 ppl were behind me... cut it a little close :D

I believe the offical count is 4million Wiis by the end of the year, but no clue on the release date #. I think Nintendo was going for 1m US, 1m JP and a random number for europe.

But they said 4m atleast by end of year.

I think those of us that tried and didn't make it will be prefectly fine. Just think about it...GS and EBGames are definitely not the only people that will be selling the system, just the people that are selling reservations for it.

Places like Sears have electronic departments, Best Buy, Target, Kohls has a small one, TJMAXX, I mean...I'd think that places like that will be recieving a TON more Wiis than the 8 that it seems many GS and the 12 that many EB games are getting.

When the PSP came out, everyone was going insane over them, remember? Alot of people came to GS and we had like 20 to give out, and we sold out really fast. I talked to my friend, and he told me he got his at Sears, didn't wait in line, and they had a HUGE amount but no one knew about it!

So again, for those of us who didn't manage to get one, Nintendo is doing the best they can to be their awesome selves and make it as easy as possible for everyone who wants one to get one. Just have to be a little smarter about where to shop for it now on release day. :wink:

I am half tempted to run a nintendo wii scam with my reserve recipt. Pull up an ebay thing saying i'm selling a reserve recipt and I'll ship after launch. Don't have to do anything but send them the damn recipt after I pick up my system. I'd be a real douche... but it's tempting.

Update: ToysrUs will begin taking preorders for the Wii on October 29th. I saw this on http://www.thehylia.com. They got it from GoNintendo.com.
So for those of you who didn't make it on last Friday you should be able to preorder at ToysrUs.

I went to Toys R Us today and I gave them my phone number/name for when the reservations start. Some start on the 27th, while others start the 29th. For every person that reserves a Wii, the store is guaranteed 1 Console for that person. Don't have to worry about $500 auctions, or waiting in line to be shafted with this kind of guarantee.

Hmm, I don't know about that, isn't that what happened with the 360?
Nintendo allocates a certain amount to be made which is why EB and GS only took a certain amount. ToysrUs doesn't have the authority to guarantee each person that reserves gets one.

They're most likely assuming that there will not be a flood of people reserving Wiis at Toys R Us, so they say they can get as many consoles as people have pre-reserved.

Also that sucks for me, because the nearest Toys R Us isn't really within biking distance (no car at college ).
